Hey there! I owned that 61 Fury for 11 years. I can share some history with the owner if they are interested. Her name with us was Gladys as that was the original owner's name. The car was originally sold and lived in Lower Michigan until about 1996. I'm so glad she's in caring hands. She's a special car!
💋
Randy sees all the comments here, so I’m sure he’ll see your comment
I own a 1961 Plymouth Belvedere and was wondering what size tires and where can I get those wihtewalls? Also, what oil did you use for her? Thanks.
Back in the day, I thought this car (the ’61) was simply the most hideous car on the road surpassed only by the Valiant. I’d laugh when someone would drive up in one and you’d hear that slant six clattering away. Now I think it is stunningly beautiful, a work of art, inside and out. That’s the camp I’m in.
I was also one of those people who thought it was ugly when I was a kid, now I see it differently too!
You're paying more for this car, so you get that unneeded chrome ribbing... LOL!
Absolutely stunning. Back when automobiles were art pieces ❤🥰😍
Exactly right
What a magnificent collection!!
Randy's collection is one of the best! Thanks for watching
I learned to drive in my Dad’s 61 Fury 2 dr HT. My Mother had a 61 Fury 4 dr. Had a semi~square steering wheel. My Brother had a 61 Fury 2 dr HT. Replaced the 318 with a 383 4B. Rear view mirrors were on the dash & push button transmission. Brings back many memories. Thanks!
Hey, sounds like a dedicated MOPAR family. Thanks for sharing
Suddenly it's still 1957! Great collection! Love the Fury 4 door!
Great collection very cool Fury
People usually rave about the '61 Impala. When it came out it most certainly must have looked like a fresh, angular approach for the '60s. But as a classic these '61 Plymouths are so much more interesting and dramatic. Guilty pleasure: I always liked them. Those concave panels were spectacular. Compliments on your beautiful collection!
They are definately interesting and dramatic
Some people called the styling of this particular year of Plymouth controversial. I think it's magnificent! Very unique and badass!
Very unique. Quirky and cool
Randy is such a nice guy to share his collection of Gems! 💋
He’s an awesome guy
Thank you Jay. For taking the time to get with this gentleman. He has a lot of Mopars, and they're beautiful
Randy has an awesome collection and we’re glad he shared it with us. Check out some of Randy’s other videos on our channel
@@TwoGuysandaRidethose are rolling art was wondering what paint was used at the factory laquer or enamel to last that long
the 61 Fury is the best one- it shows off the italian collaboration the best- it looks more 60s jetson euro- thanks for showcasing that car - one of my faves
Definitely a Euro flare
@@TwoGuysandaRide Or maybe flair.
I like the '61 Fury's angry scowl. Cool.
Definitely a face only a mother could love
Film: HOT RODS TO HELL
Saw this car last night on an episode of Leave It To Beaver. Always been a GM guy and a Ford guy to a lesser degree, but the styling on this one is sublime and handsome!
We agree. Its cool and quirky, fun and square all at the same time!
I was a kid in 1961 and I thought these cars were nothing but ugly. Now they still seem awkward to me but I think I understand better what the stylists were aiming for.
@@GUAMANIANable I disagree. The late 50's and early 60's were the pinnacle for American style. Cars had a lot of personality back then. A far cry to what so-called automobiles are now. :( Even though the styling was extraordinary, the look still was handsome and all "Americana" at it's best.
@canibusnj Absolutely re late 50s & early 60s in general. I even like the GM 1958s that usually get panned. Automobiles of that era capture the energy, enthusiasm and confidence that characterized the culture at that time, at least as I recall. But for me the 61 and 62 Chryslers takes some getting used to. Would still like to have one, though.
This is a fantastic collection! These are art pieces on wheels as we always say. I agree with everything said on the Plymouth. It’s so ugly it’s pretty, I’d say outstanding. Still more pretty than most cars today.
The one thing I’d have to disagree with though are the taillights. I think Chrysler put way more thought into those taillights than any other car since the 80s maybe. Although taillights have gotten more interesting again, most are still plastic rubbish.
Fantastic tour of this collection! Thanks for sharing it with us!
It’s a magnificent collection and those are a couple of Rayovac Flashlights stuck on each rear quarter panel….lol… seriously though, thanks for sharing!
I was born in 1961 and Im glad to see the cars that were already built in those days. Regards from Argentina
Welcome friend and thanks for watching
Born 1948 USA, '61 Plymouth was my sister in law's new car... never forget those tail lights...
Wonderful 61, agree the owners description, so ugly its beautiful... but the more I see these cars, the "ugly" fades away, the car is beautiful.
We agree 👍
From the beautiful 1957-58 "Forward Look" to the 1961 monstrosities. It's as if Virgil Exner had a stroke.
lol it was a dramatic change
In fact: he had!
Forward Look was only 'styling', unaerodynamic in the Jet/Space Age 1950s... prolly why GM had 52% of the market with it's streamlined cars!
Why is unique so often labeled as ugly? The '61 FURY is a beautifully daring design. As a kid I found those tail lights to be quite fascinating. On into the mid '60s the FURYs were quite boring until '67.
In total is may look quirky and odd but you have to appreciate the style of the times
I think the 1961 Plymouth is beautiful 😍
It grows on you
I agree. When I see it my heart literally skips a beat. I personally love the back. The lines and detail are the epitome of 1961 design.
@@lanceharding6573 1961 Plymouth, Ford, and the entire GM line were stellar.
Not to be morbid but I hope they have nice relatives that love them as much as they do. Beautiful!!
It’s a beautiful collection
Salmon...smoked... yeah, that's the color... Love it. SO Fugly it really is beautiful.
Fugly for sure
Love these old cars..
He’s got a fantastic collection
What a video very interesting your classic cars are beautiful ❤ colour on last car looks like a mink colour ITS beautiful👍 From Belfast
Hello friend. Thanks for watching
Just... WOW!
Right??!!
@@TwoGuysandaRide Honestly, Desoto had some incredible vehicles in this era and I would've nary been aware sans
'Two Guys & a Ride'...
"Ugly Bomb" is so quirky that it's uber Kool!
I remember my mother had a 61 fury basically the same car except white. One day we were at the local shopping market in Denver and she had forgotten that reverse was out. Of course we pulled right up in the front row. 🙂
Cool memories
Beautiful! ❤❤❤
We agree!
Quite a remarkable, beautiful collection.
Indeed! Thanks for watching
I think it's Bronze Poly, code ZZ. Fawn Beige wasn't a metallic paint like this car has. When I see a 1961 Plymouth, the theme song from Leave it to Beaver runs through my head. I always liked these cars since I was a small child with little plastic 1961 cars to play with. It was my favorite along with the 1961 Buick. These cars are sometimes called plucked chickens since the previous year's car had such huge tailfins.
Thanks for sharing
It absolutely is Bronze Poly and I can confirm that every drop of that glorious bronze was applied at the factory.
yup ... agree w/owner that i always thought the '61 Fury was ugly & weird lookin, but, when u look-back after all these years on an original/clean/shiny/factory (even as a standard 4dr sedan) it's a sharp ride for sure. The other machines are simply beautiful investment-level gems! So cooool!
So cool indeed and we are so very privileged to call Randy our friend and for him to happily share his rolling art masterpieces with us.
Great cars!
Agreed
How on earth does a 4 door sedan remain so pristine. I think she's beautiful
Makes you wonder. Somebody really loved her
When these were new I had a Jo-Han model kit of one of these. It was molded in light green plastic. I really liked this year of Plymouth. The year they eliminated the rear fender fins.
Cool memories
Beautiful cars. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Those cars are nice, but they are just too, too perfect. 😮
He likes the top notch show quality and his awards reflect that
Jay this was a great lil tour my dude ❤
Agreed. My son did a great job.
Verry nice collection. I even like the 1962 Plymouth. Sad that most of these beauties either rusted out early, or in the late 1960's, robbed of their powerful engines and transmissions and the rest of the car junked.
You should check out some of Randy’s other cars that we’ve featured on our channel too
Beautiful collection!
He has a fantastic collection
I love Randys collection. He has excellent taste in Mopars. You overlooked the red 60, Polara or Dart, in front of the 61 Fury.
We filmed the Dart that day too. It on our channel
@TwoGuysandaRide Ah cool thanks I'll look for it
What a beautiful car collection! I love the letter cars and the 413 engine is really magnificent looking and nice how they made it work like that.
Randy has a fantastic collection. Thanks for watching
Thanks Rob & Jay!!😃
Randy, thanks as always for sharing your impeccable collection with us!
I would give anything to have a collection like that!
I'll second that 👍
Randy has been very successful. He’s worked hard to get it
We agree
Buckskin Gold..I love this car..
Thanks. She’s a real beauty
I am impressed
It’s a very impressive collection
Would have been great if you'd taken us for a ride. Any one of these beauties, specially one of the 300's. Though again anyone of your super nice collection would be a major thrill.
As Jay mentions at the beginning of the video, it had just rained. However, we’ve filmed several of Randy’s other cars and we have taken those for a ride. Check out the Dart Phoenix, Impala, ‘60 Fury and a DeSoto videos
Totally inlove with the cream Desoto convertible.❤
She’s a beauty
Stunning car. I don't think it's ugly at all. You could just sit and gaze at it. Never need to even drive it.
Agreed! Thanks for watching
The rear of that Plymouth is much superior to its iconic but wacky front end.
The rear was forgotten. They didn’t style it 🥸
Plymouth had an advertising slogan, "Suddenly, it's 1960" set to music. I was about 10 years old, obsessed with everything automotive, and laughed, "what are they going to say in 1960?".... They did not update that ad slogan for '61 as I recall.
No they didn’t, but we took the liberty. Thanks for watching
My 1960 Dodge Polara is the same color as that 61 Fury. My factory information says the color of it is called Cocopoly ... the color of coco (chocolate milk) and poly is what they used back then to refer to matalic paint now.
Oh that’s cool. Odd name for an odd looking car
@@billt3357 fun fact, each division called the same color code (Z) by a different name. Since Plymouth was the entry level brand, it had the simplest names with it just being called “Bronze Poly”. Dodge called it “Roman Bronze Iridescent” while Chrysler called it “Tuscan Bronze Iridescent” and DeSoto called it “Bahama Bronze Iridescent”. Your 1960 Cocoa Poly Polara is color code U which is slightly more brown than the 1961 Code Z shade.
I’ll never forget the advertising tag line used for the 1961 De Soto. There were rumors, of course, for a couple of years about the viability of the De Soto marque so this model (‘61) was introduced as “The Car With The Built-in Future”.
That tag line didn’t age well 🤔
Chrysler Corp (MOPAR) interior and exterior designers were living in Wacky-Town from 1958 to 1962. Now they are collectible just because they are so weird. We had a 1964 Plymouth Fury 4-door sedan with a 318 that was a wonderful car and no wacky styling. Easier for my mom to handle compared to the full size GM and Ford of 1964, but plenty of room for six adults and a huge trunk. The dash in the 61 Plymouth is a killer; put some 3-point seat belts in that puppy if you are going to go more than 5 mph. 😉🤣😊👍 Beautiful collection, love the engine in the 300F. Crazy!
They had definitely traveled a few times to wacky town! Thanks for watching
"Wally!! Beaver!! can you boys come downstairs for a minute?"

Nice !!
💯 % most definitely
Props for keeping them original and not resto-rodding them.

@@terryballard4674 Randy certainly is a character but what a fun guy he is, a good friend and what an awesome collection
I look at a Lexus now and call it ugly.
True
This car is beautiful. Where is Ward Cleaver ?
He was off scolding the Beav
Oh my gawd... That '61 is identical to my Mom's '61. Hers didn't have seatbelts, but it did have power brakes though. I loved that car! Sadly, it rusted out so badly, it looked like swiss cheese. The taillights were held on with duct tape... lol... She traded it in '68 for her Satellite. I miss that car!
Cool memories! Thanks for sharing
The creamy white on the Adventurer was common around then. Lincoln had a similar cream color through the early 1960s, Sultana White. White cars now are all more artic white.
Got it
Randy has all the best.
19 and counting
What a beautiful collection! As for the '61 Fury, I think it's ugly, but I would love to have it!
We definitely agree
61 ply. Looks like a champagne color to me.
It’s that, then beige, then pink…depending on the light
Great video, but why did you miss the red convertible Dodge
We have a full stand alone video of the Dodge Dart Phoenix on our channel
A great collection of old Mopars. I'm envious. You are correct, that is the ugliest car ever made, but like you, I have a perverse attraction to it. RUclipsr Scott at Cold War Motors is a fan of them too. He recently completed the restoration of a 1960 Fury hardtop by splicing two rusty cars together to make one. He is a master craftsman and has a yard full of old Mopars.
Thanks for sharing. Randy also has a 1960 Fury convertible that was actually rescued from a trash heap. We have that video on our channel too
It’s called “Fawn Beige”.
Thanks
"I just kept bidding until I owned it". Must be nice...
You have to know him to understand how funny that comment is.
5:16 aka C biscuit. I'm surprised he didn't mention that. 13:50 that's quite the front end. Call me crazy but I like that there are fins over the headlights. Gotta love Virgil Exner. 14:42 that has gotta be one of the dumbest looking dashboards ever. I love it, done at a time when the goverment wasn't concerned about your safety. I don't know if Mr. Guyer said this about the '61 what a time capsule. Sit in the car and it's 1961.17:05 👍👍👍👍👍 Amen. It's so ugly it's cool as are all the forward look cars. 17:40 Fawn beige 20:16 and I thought they weren't gonna mention that gem. That car is stunning.I like the '60 Dodge and '60 De Soto probably the high water mark of the forward look cars
Ahhh...true
i wonder if rust is an issue since their from minnesota and wisconsin?😮
Not on this one but you are correct that the upper Midwest cars did rust away
Why when you share this does it say Suddenly it's 1960 and the description below the picture calls it a 1960 Plymouth Fury?
No idea.
Thanks for sharing it
my parents had a green 61 Plymouth 4 door
Cool!
I disagree, I do not like big steering wheels! My Chrysler 300c Platinum and Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit both have small-diameter power steering wheels, and love them both. I love Plymouth cars and trucks, but my favorite is the 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury Coupe and Convertible.
Thanks for watching
In my opinion, the color is champagne. One of my sisters owned a 1986 Toyota that was pretty much this shade, and they called it champagne. So, to me it's champagne.
I think it is a beautifully-kept car for what it is. But by 1961 this was pretty dated-looking. And it wasn't one of the better-looking cars that year...still, there are things about this car that just stand out, like those taillights and that grille. But even as a kid back in the 1960s, when there were still quite a few of these on the road, I thought they were kind of weird-looking.
It’s almost so ugly as to be pretty. It’s definitely quirky but you have to love that early ‘60’s jet age style
I graduated from high school in 1961. It's hard to believe that new cars were that ugly then but I was mostly paying attention to cars I could afford.
In 1960 I paid $65 for a 1937 Ford coupe. in 1961 I bought a 1949 Ford 2 door sedan for $90. One could say they both needed some work.
Those are cool rides and great memories!
Straight from the Jetsons 😅
lol cool cars with jet age style
I think you will find the official color name of the “red” 300f is Terra Cotta.
Thanks
Color of Fury is Mauve...?
Good info
Very confusing! The thumbnail and the featured car is a 61,NOT a 60! So, why the title?
I would call the 61 Fury sedan medium rose beige.
Sorry for the confusion. You are correct that this is indeed a 1961. We loved the advertising of "Suddenly it's 1960" that they used and we included at the beginning of the video so we out that on the Thumbnail. You have a very good eye in catching that this isn't a '60 model. Thanks for watching!
Randy does also own a 1960 Fury and it's an amazing restoration story. Check it out: ruclips.net/video/R5c6-V9Odzw/видео.html
I believe "Suddenly, It's 1960!" was the advertising starting in 1957 with the new "Forward Look" designs offered on all new Imperial, Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge and Plymouth designs. Those beautiful designs took the market by storm.
My family called this color salmon.
Thanks
That Fury is downright hideous. However the color, interior and details are gorgeous.
It’s so ugly that it’s pretty. Thanks for watching
I would say it's copper in color, like a penny....and he always says it drives flawlesly...lol..that's what they should do I guess, unless something goes wrong
Well, he means it Still drives flawlessly. That’s a pretty big deal for a car this okd
Too bad the 1961 Plymough doesn't have factory air. The system Chrysler used was integrated and basically similar to modern AC systems. It obviously makes a driving a vintage car much more like a modern one. BTW it's 4170 Bronze Metallic, or if not metallic it's 4165 Beige or 4168 Tan.
Thanks for the info
13:15 if you're interested in skipping right to the car in the title and avoid all the unnecessary talk.
Patience is a virtue
