I must admit watching from the beginning I thought it would not make a decent forest arrangement, how wrong I was I love it as you say it looks natural, the little group of trees ads a lot more character to the group planting. Thank you Peter, nice to have you back on home turf.

We had minus 35 in my region (Moscow) last week. The climate restricts bonsai hobby a lot. But we have a natural “bonsai master” - it’s heavy Mr Snow that changes the shape of branches and even trunks and Mr Frost that kills brunches and apexes.

I also rot down the leaves for soil as well as compost. It's cheap, natural and holds on to the water so I don't have to worry about daily watering.

Loovvvvve it.😂 I appreciate when you share what rules you may, or may not be Breaking and when. I did a big experiment this year going against all of the rules pruning trees at times they’re not supposed to be pruned, digging them up potttiing them. I even did some air layering projects. I dug up and pruned at least 20 different species that are local, giving them a better chance. I also have a small indoor grow space where I took a few of my favorites. I learned a lot and having a lot more successes than failures indoors at the moment. And I can’t forget the cutting that I managed to get to root that is thicker than a pencil, not matchstick sized. I hope the bigger trees outdoors fare well. Thank you so much for all the wonderful techniques and invaluable information about tree species individually. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Another amazing transformation! I picked up several dwarf Alberta spruce and look forward to working on them when the weather warms a little. Some areas I live have deadwood on almost every tree so it would be natural to include that feature in every bonsai based on those landscapes.

Amazing again, mr Chan! Of course there is no such thing as a "final result" in bonsaï (I think) but the actual result is very much better than I expected, I must give you that! I had quite a few spruces myself and I was able to sell them after a few years of taking care. And so I learned that wiring spruce is quite a neverending story, don't you think? On the other hand: it's a very tolerant and very strong species and over here (the Netherlands) it's certainly not expensive. Furthermore: it keeps you going as a bonsaï lover...!

  • @jang.1185

It looks great. The spruces high in the mountains often have more leaders or more trunks. Also crazy bended and twisted brunches - even the thick ones.
