Thank you Peter for a very lovely tour around. What makes this one special for me is that a few days prior to your filming this one I was walking amongst all these beautiful trees, enjoying a day at Herons for my workshop. A lovely memorable day! Keep the tours, strolls, and walks coming. Thank you again Peter, and keep well

I so enjoyed doing the workshop with you the other day and recounting the times forty years ago when I used to give talks and Demonstations at Southend Bonsai Club. The glory days of bonsai in the UK when club meetings were attended by 130 people and more !

I absolutely loved this video and you are such the greatest! I love listening to you and your knowledge! I could listen to you all day! I was wondering if you could do a video on an Acer Palmatum Dissectum Viridis one day. I haven’t found any videos of them on your channel. I’m interested in learning more about them from you. I just bought on over the weekend and I love it. My mom had one when I was a kid and having one now is bringing a lot of joy and memories.

I said on one of your posts about moving to Devon Dorset now I’ve followed you with a good walk around wow your place is so huge. It’s a shame that you’re in the flight path otherwise it would be interesting to get a drone up and take an aerial view of what you have. That is incredible Be nice to come up and spend an afternoon there

Hi Peter. I love your garden. I nearly bought a lovely white crab apple the other day, but it wouldn’t have fitted inside my sisters car 😟 Do you grow any Acer p. Mikawa Yatsubusa? That’s one of my favourites as a little garden tree. Almost like a natural bonsai and very slow growing.
Incidentally, I cut out a couple of good-sized branches from my 30-year old Acer p. ‘Shishio Improved’ the other day and the cuts are still bleeding quite a lot (I know, it’s late), so I was wondering what brand of cut sealant you use to help them heal?

    • @peterchan3100
      @peterchan3100 5 месяцев назад +2

Dont worry about the maple 'bleeding'. In Spring they do that - same with Silver Birch trees - they will stop eventually - No need for cut paste. Save your money.

Thank you Peter for sharing your garden and range of trees, Larch are my favourites I have small medium and a very large larch trees, the foliage is a beautiful light green colour, there is a slight difference I found in colour between the Japanese and the European larch, my money is on the Japanese foliage colour. I love the the group planting of the Larch you have created with 8 trees in a pot made I assume from concrete to resemble a conch shell I can see why you are proud of the work you did.
An observation I have made this year the foliage on a lot of the trees is fuller and slightly bigger than previous years, the flowers are more numerous also, I have a maple that is ready to bud break with flowers, it has not flowered in the past. I did hear years ago that sometime an unhealthy tree will flower because it is stressed and needs to issue seeds to continue the future of the species before it dies. This happened to one of my trees many years ago 😅, I can’t remember the tree but it did exactly that, it flowered a lot more than usual and then died.
Getting back to the reason the trees are growing stronger and displaying more healthy foliage and flowers this spring I assume it is due to the wet mild winter this year plus the the wetter spring and the odd very mild days we have had here in the U.K.
Dusk is a magical time of the day, you can hear the birds singing their songs,
The magnolia is magnificent Peter .
My large Crab Apple has been in bloom for over a week, today’s date 4th April and no sign of them dropping their petals.
My Chinese quince has yellow flowers all over it which have been out for nearly a month, the odd flower dies and another takes it place.
I have a Burberry covered in lichen, it doesn’t harm the trees, some people think it is ugly, I don’t, I leave it alone.
I watch your videos on my large projector screen first uninterrupted if possible, then I watch it again in my iPad slowly so I can comment as you go round your nursery. Have a great year at the nursery and thank you once again for your tours.

Very nice and beautiful but a bit surreal from the Finnish standpoint... Please let me humour you for a moment with some data from Central Finland, regarding the ongoing winter:
10/23: no snow cover, temp min -13
    11/23: ~10-20 cm snow cover, temp min -23 °C
    12/23: ~20-40 cm snow cover, temp min -23 °C
    1/24: ~25-50 cm snow cover, temp min -34 °C
    2/24: ~50-60 cm snow cover, temp min -32 °C
    3/24: ~35-50 cm snow cover, temp min -17 °C
So, we still have 30+ centimeters of snow, and the weather forecast is calling for -10 °C for the next two nights. But there are catkins in willows, so the spring might be coming soon!
