    Y'know, I've always wondered why the version of 'Sunset Haze' by Keiji Inai that you use in your videos just had a random line of some guy saying "Enjoy your time in the mountains!"
    Well after that ending - and some internet sleuthing - now I know...
    (Seriously that Francis Higgins guy is hilarious, I can't believe I'd never seen his videos before lol)

    • @TeaKanji

      My IRL friend group quotes his videos all the time, and when I needed to make an extended version of Sunset Haze for the GT2 guide, I figured I'd add a little nod to one of my favourite RUclips videos. It's been really funny getting comments like "I've looked everywhere for the version of Sunset Haze you used but I can't find it", the voice clip adds to the song's vibe surprisingly well. Francis's videos are incredible, but the issue is, you'll never look at Merseedays or Zuuuuurichhhh the same way again after watching them, they pollute your mind in inconceivable ways.

      @@TeaKanji they sure did! One thing I would like to see though is kinda the thought process you go through when trying new builds. Things like what is your top priority when tuning, how do you feel like something should or shouldn't be changed, all that stuff. Do you follow some sort of "formula" or method, or is it purely try and error?

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Год назад +1

      @@joaquinpena7009 Recently my tuning process has changed a lot, because now I have access to SpecDB which tells me exactly what a car's weight distribution, grip modifiers and tyre stats are. It's how I narrowed down which cars to make builds for. Generally I take a look at its stats, make ballpark guesses on ride height and ballast based on things like how much rear grip the car has relative to the front, or how rear-heavy it is, then make small adjustments to the springs, LSD and everything else until it feels right. When I make the hybriding guide, I'll probably go into detail on how SpecDB simplifies the tuning process.
      Here's the spreadsheet I made using SpecDB data if you want to check it out: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DtAPfe5YhuQ4p1mdoPcVAMF5NzzpZ7Jb0Q0gUpl1sEQ/edit#gid=362094050

    Hi TeaKanji, this may not be the best video type for asking but could you look into the Lotus Elan? The specdb list mentions that it has some of the worst grip modifiers in the game at 88 F/R and it gets no option for a GT wing, yet the car grips like it's at least two to three tyre compounds up from what you put on it (i.e. comfort tires on an Elan have the same cornering speed limit as sports mediums have on an average car with normal 100/100 grip modifiers.).
    Just for extra context, this car on racing hard tires managed to contend with JGTC machines and often won by significant margins on tighter tracks like Suzuka east, Hong Kong and Laguna seca. On sports tires, full tuning and with NOS, it managed to win every single race in the Pan Euro championship against SLR's and the sort, while only boasting a measly 210 HP and weighing 581 KG.

    My fav was the Esprit sport 350, since gt2 I have loved this car and the presentation with Photon Rez gave instantly sporty vibes... Teakanji I have said it many times and will continue seconding it (as it follows the opinions of many)... I love your videos, I dont use your tunes simply because I prefer to make mines, but I admire them as much as the ones I make.

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Год назад +1

      I'll be honest, I completely forgot the Sport 350 was in GT2, so I booted it up to try it out. It's a lot of fun in that game too, yeah; despite lacking downforce, it has enough mechanical grip that you can toss it around corners and it holds really nice lines.
      Thank you, by the way! My main goal with these is basically to provide a resource of baseline tunes for people to work with, and to give people the confidence to tune their cars. So yeah, if you're making your own tunes, that's mission accomplished for me, I'm glad to hear.

      Spyker is pretty good yeah, honestly it could have made the cut over a few of these cars (it's slightly faster than the Tuscan on Midfield Reverse), but I guess I overlooked it due to its stats on paper not being the best. My bad on that one. Zonda lacks downforce which makes it annoying on tracks with crests and bumps, but with a good setup, it's very quick once you learn to brake early. The concepts aren't eligible for Supercar Festival unfortunately.

      The R34 was one of the most fun cars to drive in this showcase for sure. As long as you keep the LSD and VCD stock, you can do some insane four-wheel drifting by throttling mid-corner thanks to ATTESA. It works best with the M-spec Nur because it has the best grip modifiers of all R34's, so it has both great turning response and mid-corner traction despite weighing a bit more. Also helps that its engine has a wider torque curve than the V-spec's.

      It's the SLR McLaren engine with stock exhaust; not only does it have an ideal torque curve, it also has extra meme value in inducing Mission 34 PTSD. If I were making an optimal build, I'd probably use the Speed 12 engine or something, though sports softs were barely able to handle the SLR engine as-is.

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Год назад +1

      Glad to hear, thank you! Ah, the V8 Vantage, one of the most infamous cars to tune in GT4/GT5. Basically, I'm pretty sure PD got their stats wrong, because they gave it a 65 : 35 weight distribution for some reason. I can't find an exact figure of what the IRL V8 Vantage's distribution was, but I don't think it makes sense for a FR of its length, with luxury wooden interior as well, to be so extremely front-heavy. The SL 65 AMG, with a V12 up front, is 55 : 45, for comparison. The lack of rear weight causes the massive traction issues you experienced.
      There's a setup for it in the tune list now, link in the description. It still handles like a boat, but at least it turns and holds traction decently enough if you keep it in 2nd gear and above at all times.

    No wagons?
    The Stagea is absolutely great for the Supercar festival and can even hold well enough against JGTC / Touring cars, the other wagons aren't close to bad either.
    Some of the used car dealer stuff could've been fun too (SVT Cobra R, C4 Corvette, Griffith 500, V8 Vantage, R32/33 Skylines, SL500/600 etc)

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Год назад

      I tried to stick to new cars so engine/rigidity wear isn't a factor, and also because the new cars generally have much better stats than the old ones. This is especially true for the GT-R's, as the R32's have pretty bad understeer due to their low front grip and the R33's feel worse to drive overall than the R34's. Maybe I could have slotted in an extra 'meme car' or two, but the video was already taking so much time to make that I stopped at 15.

      @TeaKanji  Год назад

      The setup in this video works well with racing hard tyres, I used it in the All American Championship and had a lead of over 10 seconds over the Panoz in race 1. Pick up some racing brakes as well for better braking distances. One thing to watch out for though is jumps; it has less downforce than race cars, so it spends more time airborne and tends to bounce up when landing. Try to keep the car in a straight line over big jumps like Seattle's uphill section, and brake early. It probably won't beat Group C's/LMP's, but it can put up a fight in other events against 38 / 53 downforce race cars.

      It's good yeah, I could do 1 : 14's with it around Midfield maxed-out (without NOS), but its issue is its fast front tyre wear forcing it to run mediums on front. I thought about including it, but the video was already way longer than I expected it to be, and the other cars felt more enjoyable to drive (well, besides the SSR, but that was too much of a meme not to include). Running it with NOS is a whole different story, ridiculous acceleration.

      @@TeaKanjijust a random question? If i have a na car should i turbo it, na or supercharge it? In gt4 of course not irl

    • @TeaKanji
      @TeaKanji  Год назад

      It really depends on the car and what your goals are. Like, for the SRT10 for example, I could have gone for NA tuning stage 3 for a much bigger peak power increase, but its handling felt a lot more balanced with the supercharger, plus the extra torque at low and mid-RPM's gives it an extra punch when launching and exiting corners. Higher peak power usually leads to faster tyre wear on the driving wheels as well, so that's another factor to consider. For some cars, like low-powered FF's, going for a turbo instead of NA tuning might be worth the sacrifice in mid-RPM torque.
