I disagree, while it's fun to learn but body work is not easy and takes a lot of experience so it doesnt come out wonky. I was excited when BodeVision was tapped to take a look because he has extensive body work experience and he'd make it look seamless. In the end, it'll be a big time suck to learn and trial and error and I guarantee it wont come out as level, and even on both sides to DIY it.
Maybe try to work with Taylor Ray on some of the century swap since he loves welding so much and it'd be great content for both channels. He's also a DIY kinda guy that would love the build
If you enjoy it pleasee just try to do it yourself, like as much as you can probably. I think it'd be an amazing build series, and maybe just a stepping stone for you to make more crazy swaps and builds.

I would love to see you do it yourself! One it will be cool to see the long process to do it and two it will grow your skillset and open the door for other cool wild ideas you might have in the future!
It may be that prepping the stock fender's to recieve the front end treatment and hood. Same for the hood. It might be easier to modify the shap of the hood to line it up too. You may be able to modify and use trim to blend the bumper and side skirt kits may help blend in the side.
I love the build. I just don’t know why anybody would ever get rid of the LS400 front end. I’ve had my 400 for the past 10 years and it’s my favorite car. I’m also building it it’s not done yet. I did the motor first and everything is brand new under the hood. However now that I’m doing bodywork I could never imagine getting rid of this front end LOL good luck with the build buddy it’s coming along great
It looks so good honestly from guy that dies paint and body on high end hotrods the paint job on the bumper laid out great especially for spray paint. Iv spray painted entire cars before and couldn't tell it. All in your prep work. Too bad your ending the car as you said
Mike I have to say you have inspired me to look for a ls400 and I am trying to get one very soon. I think you could tackle the century swap and it’s going to look so good when you’re done
I agree with two previous comments. I think it would be awesome to see you take on the century front end swap, and see you collaborate with Taylor Ray. Your content together would be great.
I'm not a body guy but I think bolting the bonnet on and getting it propped into its final position/height then working how much of the original guards you need then cut them, usually keep the top and back of the LS400 guards and adding the lower and front of the century guards then from they make the bumper and lights fit 🤷♂️ maybe way off but thats how is tackle it. Maybe get some donor ls400 guards?
I like the look of the bumper, the angles seem off though. You mentioned liking the slim profile of the car, but the bumper looks much wider than the rockers.
Dude, black chrome layering might blend that back bumper. It's right but color light and shading. A slight angle tip in front of back tire and in back of front tire will help and if done subtlety won't change the look too much. Or auto steps from a SUV. Ha ha. It's coming along though a step at a time. Cool ride. Dark, long and lower than limbo mon.
May be able to use some brakets to suck the bottom of the rear bumper in more, it would help split the different between the aggressiveness of the bumper and the tame of the factory rocker area. It may also help with the height issue somewhat. Granted it all depends how much flex that fiberglass has
I would say do it yourself to truly understand what it takes to do bodywork like I did. It’s a great learning experience I enjoyed rebuilding my wrecked ucf 20 and jimmyO tip drimel is big help with light fiberglass trimming.
Love the build, I think it would be definitely worth your while to get matching side skirts since the body doesn’t flow the best from the rear angle, definitely not horrible but a little width on the sides would be nice to see to match the rear bumper. Also I wouldn’t worry about adding too much width considering if you decide to keep the extra length of the century front end then it would balance out brilliantly. I get youre a Stancy boi but I think the car would look much better If it was raised ever so slightly and the gap from body to ground was filled with a larger skirt! Just my opinion and not saying there’s anything wrong with your aims for the car! Also I really like the idea of getting Taylor rays help with the build, he seems like a cool guy and does like to diy stuff and I bet he’d be great at helping improve your knowledge bad when it comes to building stuff also!
As a professional body guy, I say please leave it to the professionals. Body work isn't something you can just pick up and tinker with and have it look good. It takes years and years of training and practice to become good at body work. I 100% guarantee you that it will look like shit and won't hold up if you start to mess with body fillers and fiberglass fillers and patch panels and stuff, not to mention won't be as safe as it would be if a professional did it. There's a reason quality bodywork is so expensive. Yes you'll save money but you won't be happy with the result. I know I'm gonna get hate for this but as an actual professional with real insight, it's the truth. Bodywork isn't something to cheap out on. You've already spent the money on the parts, now spend the money on getting it done right. All the typical RUclipsr's that buy and "fix" crashed sports cars are massive hacks and the cars are nowhere near safe to drive, while looking like hot garbage to anyone who knows what they're doing. If you hooked up with someone like Bodevision, who is a RUclipsr who actually knows what he's doing, you'd be good then. Let him do all the metal work and filler work.
Oh I’m well aware I’ll need a long time to understand it, but paying thousands and thousands to have it done right is pointless with the future car I have coming anyway
As someone who has done similar type of body work. I'd seriously recommend just having the professional do it. It'll cost more but it will be worth it. Welding sheet metal sucks if you aren't good at it. Body work is terrible and I also enjoy the kinda tedious stuff (I actually spent hours sanding the groves out of the inside of my wheels just cause). I do not understand why people choose to do body work. It's a terrible task. And it won't make the good content you think. You can only use so much footage of you sitting in the same spot tac welding a line or sanding for 6 hours.
I know it’s a stretch but I’d like to see you work on this with LEP Auto. I know he’s working on his own project and is thousands of miles away but you guys are my favorite for LS content and I know you guys are friends
