I cried this morning while listening to this. I was in bed and decided to flash back to when i was 18 years old. This song and all he made at that time, controlled my thoughts and emotions. Elton is a genius song writer and singer. Thanks for having his songs available for me, a 65 year old man.
i saw elton in concert1970, when he was new. i turned 70 this week. full circle! my step daughter framed 'how wonderful life is..' as a gift to me. as i love that. i am blessed!
I like this Elton, You can see the Uncertainty in his face that this may not even go anywhere with no flamboyance he looks and sounds more vulnerable just a guy at a piano.
This song is one of my all time favorites. Elton John's music is timeless and I know 100 years from now people will still listen to this song and smile:)
Amen. Elton John songs should fill up our time capsules and everyone in the future will envy the beautiful world we lived in. If more people listened today, surely the world would be a better place.
This IS my favorite song of all time and Elton John is my favorite male soloist of all time. Just an amazing song and no one has ever done it as well as the master.
I'm pushin' 60 years on now. I know I don't have that much time left. Enough to remember the good times and great music. I think fondly of all my family members who are now gone. Not many of us left.
The maturity of this young talented of 23 years old. Mstery of the piano, of the voice, and at the same time, one sees clearly his shyness. He is already very professionnal and will remain his life. Ladies and gentlemen , Elton John .
To be fair he'd been playing infront of audience's since the mid 60s when he was playing in pubs, so was a seasoned pro by 1970, he'd already achieved commercial success in the usa before the uk
I saw him perform this live this past weekend in Syracuse, for a crowd of 38,000 people. Watching this video of him performing the same song over 50 years ago moves me to tears. He is such a treasure. I was born too late to see him in his younger years but to see him in 2022 for his farewell tour, and to share that experience with my 14 year old son, makes me feel incredibly lucky. I don’t think I will ever see another concert that can top it!
I absolutely love Elton, always have. He was a musical genius, and in his prime did put on great shows. I have the utmost respect for the man, but, if a 75 year old Elton John show is the greatest live show you've ever seen. You gotta get out more.
I'm 50 years old . I was born in 1970. My parents listen to Elton John . I still have all their albums. He has been apart of my whole life. I wish I could thank him myself. He may have had a lot of downfalls and strife in his life but when he got it right it was amazing............
I was 10. Music was beautiful in the 60s and 70s. Im almost 60 but i wouldnt trade my youth in the 60s and 70s for anything. America had a ton of problems, vietnam, racism etc. but technology has taken human connection and it continues to chip away at it.
I was 7 at the time. I know this song so well, but just today I saw this video. 50 years later. I know what you mean about tech chipping away at the spirit in everything. 60's and 70's music is the best. Even the very old and the very young mostly would agree. Not just our generation. It was a very special time. I try to keep that alive as best as I can.
fucking amazing, sorry for the language. But I simply can't explain how good Mr.Elton John sings this song, it's the best version. You can tell he means every single word. quite simply amazing! WOW!
really, wow that's amazing. well done. i love watching singers in their early days, before they turn into iconic machines. you can see at the start of the song how nervous and his had huge levels on concentration. it was in the second half of the song he finally released his vocals and enjoyed it, as he knew he had it perfected. it was a great performance.
omfg stuart epps, I didn't even read the name. you're an absolute legend. I read up on your career years back when I constantly heard your name bouncing around. you are the real deal, and if any artist wants the best brought out of them, you're the man for it. your experience, advice and tutoring would be second to none. well done on such an amazing and illustrious career.
+paulie walnuts shaaaa. baby Elton John all nervous and stuff! Todays musicians definitely need to watch youtube and take notes from a few people ..!,I agree! Imsaid The same with Stevie Nicks vs todays female singers..ugh!
People forget what an utterly magnificent voice Elton had. It's almost completely gone now, BUT we can still hear recordings of it. and those will last forever.
I like to listen to this song at least once a day, Elton John is one of the ALL-TIME greatest entertainers/musicians/songwriters ever in the history of music, He may well be the best ever, With this year being his farewell tour he's finally calling it a career, What a fine career it was!
My Dad died right after my 14th birthday, I spent so much time listening to Elton John in my bedroom. I somehow could feel his sadness in those songs. Music does heal and Elton forever lives in my heart.
First time i listened to this song i sat down in silence thinking “oh My God”. Couldnt talk and then turn on again and again then played on piano. Changed my Life. In better. As a musician and a Man. Thankyou Elton and Bernie.
!970, I was in High School.I was a sophomore just trying to get by then.I guess I've not changed much. The years have been kind even though old friends are no longer around.I still love this song. Timeless for sure. Thanks Philip for posting this gem performance.
I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind, that I put down in words how wonderful life is when you're in the world. That's for my beloved soulmate Moonie, who left this world two years ago.
My heart soars everytime I listen to this song. My favorite ever! "How wonderful life is while you are in the world"... who can resist to that pick up line, eh?
I think of my oldest daughter Gabriela Sheila when listening to that song. I love you Ela, with everything I am, love Mama Today is her birthday and I miss her so much.

Let me make this clear anyone who dosent like such a beautifuly composed song plus being the first top ten hit of the most charted male on billboard is a fool this song is beautifully gorgeous and this song is better to sign to a woman then that garbege you people call music today I love Elton Jon saw him live seven months ago I'll never forget it ever
Not for the first time while I listen to these amazing musicians, singer and lyrics I think to myself ‘I am so blessed to have grown up with this beautiful, wonderful, amazing music from Elton, Bernie and the incredible band’. Blessed indeed!

+locombia24 they don't sing today they talk, think Rap or they screech! I am so glad I grew up in a time when music really rocked like Sir Elton just did here ;)
I love Elton John's early albums, and I am old enough to have had his early 1970s singles bought for me as a child, but I have to say that I disagree about modern music. It is easy to fall into the trap of hearing what is played on the mainstream media, and presume that all modern music is awful. There are many excellent singer-songwriters and bands around. Admittedly, you have to do a lot of searching, or follow recommendations, but that does not mean that the talent is not out there.
Sign of the times, that RUclips brackets these breathtaking, legendary performances with the most insipid Messenger ad melodies one could possibly imagine.
Just seen a interview with Cory Wells of the three dog night. Saying Elton John gave them this song to sing. Good thing Elton did record it. I haven't herd the song from three dog night. This song is so good.

Generally, Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics to all of Elton's greatest hits. They were a sublime duo.

How the years past...
It was fun and intense when you were young, wasn't it...
It sucks time has gone so fast. Already 2018. Seems like 1970 was 10 years ago
@@jordan6988 i am with you, i am 62 and still in my mind i'm in my teens way back in the 70s , we had the best music ever, late 60's to early 70s
A true gift from God ..to help us all where we are ..tears from the heart
If this doesn't move you , then your heart isn't beating.
Só true
Or you don't understand English. I mean just a possibility 😂
You got that right! What a beautiful thing to behold 🎶🎶
I agree. Anyone alive is moved. Great song.
I’m 15 and adore Elton ! He’s my idol and I cry wishing I was born in the 70s honestly I’m crying rn

“Yours are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen”
Does anyone else get chills every single time?
yess that's my favourite line
That's the line that always touched my heart. "Any way the thing is, what I really mean." That comes just before it and I love that too.
Bernie taupin’s lyrics he wrote practically all of Elton’s lyrics
dude i read this while the line you mentioned was playing it was fucking epic
tried singing it karaoke and cant make it past that line, or "while you're in the world.." 😭😭
My gift is my song, and this one's for you - One of Rock's greatest lines.
Up there with "guilty feet have no rhythm"
Brooke Stuart that line is lame as hell. I like George Michael (Bluth), but that line does not even come close to anything from 70s Elton's catalogue.
Is Elton John rock?
It still is nearly half a century later

This song is one of my all time favorites. Elton John's music is timeless and I know 100 years from now people will still listen to this song and smile:)
Without a doubt! Ian dancing this with my daughter at her wedding!

This song is amazing, but also very sad at the same time, as if it draws you into its sadness....kind of hard to explain.
Truth in your words. It's a happy yet sad song. Love it or hate it, it's golden and so special that Bernie and Elton shared it. Bravo..
I understand what your saying..
This is one of the most beautiful comments I've ever seen
see whtat you mean...I think it's the sadness of loving someone who is not in your reach, or not yet anyway
I remember when this came out. Just started secondary school. Great times and memories ❣️
Incredible melody ... but the lyrics are somehow even better. It's a masterpiece.
You can thank Bernie Taupin for the lyrics, for all of Elton’s lyrics.
Bernie Taupin is one the most exciting poets in our lives. For Elton to put such complimentary music to this creates world class songs. Thanks guys.
Played this song at my father's funeral.. One of the truest most beautiful songs ever composed. Thank you Sir Elton
"This is OUR song..." a very simple song with a powerful message: How wonderful life is while YOU'RE in the world." Jfr

This Is one of the most real and beautiful songs ever made!!! Use to listen to this back in 1977 in kindergarden and sing it.CLASSIC

I always feel happy when I hear this song.
That's because memories from a long time ago come back like it was yesterday.
I wonder how many folk in the audience realized they were witnessing a LEGEND-IN-THE-MAKING?
The KING of POP before he ascended the throne.
I wondered that same exact thing- boy what I would have given to be there:)
IM SURE THEY DO
Lol, what's with all the caps-lock? 😅
They would have been comparing him to The Beatles who just broke up
I don’t think there’s a more positive comment section in any RUclips video than Elton’s music videos. Much love to all you wonderful people ✌🏻☮️
How can you not love Sir Elton John? Bless him!
my parents wedding song, and mine, hopefully my son's too!
This was my last dance at my wedding
Tiny Dancer is my favorite Elton John song, but I can't listen to it without crying. This one I can handle.
1970,2024. Elton John has laid the groundwork of 50 plus years of music & memories!🎶

Almost lost my husband last year and when Elton sings the part “how wonderful life is while you’re in the world “ it really gets to me.❤
