Man I'm such a novice. My dad used to teach me when I was a kid but that was a long time ago and he's passed on. I'm trying to teach my kids and I'm the only one out there not catching anything, fumbling with my knot tying a hook, having to look up fish I do catch. Just a disaster. But they both love it and I'm trying.. thanks for the tips.
One of the first lures you showed has dual single hooks. They look to be a correct size; however, both of the hooks should be placed on the split rings with the mouth of the hooks facing outwards and not "in." I recommend removing them and switching the hook tips around so they face the outward direction of the lure.
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Can you a tackle Tuesday on tips or something for beach/Surf fishing please?? I live on the south Florida coast, and I just got into it and I already have a rod and reel and I am interested in what paths there are to take for Rigs and or lures.
This area is so broad, is there something in particular you are interested in? Also what beaches will you be fishing mainly, then I can better guide you.
@@jessiebfishn Try bubble rigs. You can tie some up for a fraction of the cost of a gotcha and IMHO they catch 'em better. I don't think I've ever caught anything but spanish on them, they seem to weed out everything else. Sometimes you'll see 3-4 swipes at the lure in one retrieve. love the top water action so you can see whats going on. I always seem to get more blues than spanish on my gotchas.
hey i was fishing the deerfield pier today with the gotcha lure for about 3 hours and didn’t get one hit and i was doing all the retrieving methods you said in this video. any tips?
Thanks for the vid, definitely liking the vid since I'm a common pier fisherman do u think white pompano hair jigs work on Spanish mackerel and what about yellow ones too?
Any advice for Destin fishing? Going in August and heard that the Bridge and Okaloosa Pier was on fire then but was wondering if anywhere else and what's good to use then
I'm new to saltwater fishing and pier fishing so how do you work the diamond jigs?? Is it more like vertical jigging or like casting out and letting it flutter ripping off the bottom and letting flutter again?
Hey, nice video. I just moved to FL in August of 2016 and I am still trying to figure out this fishery. It is always nice to hear what others have had success using. Do you ever tie your gotcha lure to the main line with wire or directly to mono or flouro? I have fished Gotcha lures a few times and caught one fish, a Spanish Mackerel. I have lost one lure getting stuck on the bottom trying to fish the whole water column and I think I have been cut off twice. I was tying it directly to fluorocarbon. Since losing my last Gotcha lure I have considered connecting my main line to the lure with a short trace of thin wire in hopes of preventing or at least limiting any more cut offs. The connection to the lure would be a haywire twist to try to prevent the loss of lure action. Do you think that is a good idea or is there a better way?
Does the color on the gotcha lure matter? I searched around a little while and couldn't find the one in the vid. Great video you just earned a like and sub from me
the company that makes it is called Gotcha. but since there are others making it like tsunami and buccaneer. it's just a piece of metal with hooks on it. mackerel will bite anything if they're around
The link for Facebook is a broken link for me. I'll find you and like your page if you return the favor and like my family's band page. I love what I have learned from you and by the way I have caught over 100 bluefish and Spanish mackerel using nothing but a got-cha plug. They are by far the best. Easy to change hooks on them also. Thanks!
I'm in woodshop shop this year so I stared making wooden lures. I might try to make the last lure you showed. I need to get some of those. I don't have any in my tackle box.
Lures that are heavier such as a gotcha or diamond jig or heavier bucktail jig (2oz). Or a plug like an xrap with a lip, A topwater like a spook will just float if its windy.
I absolutely love Dimond jigs and gatcha plugs for peir fishing!!!!Love the tackle Tuesdays, keep it up!!
Thanks Gus +Fishing Adventures with Gus

Can you explain what you mean when you say high lying / (line) ? Piers. Vs Low lying line ? piers . Examples of each thanks 🙏🏻
What kind of rod would u throw the crappie jig on because I’m pretty sure six pound test on an ultralight would not work lol

Great video! Thanks for the information
Great advice
1:14 which jig is that
Does the Got-cha work in freshwater also?
Thanks for the upload, the hook seems really large on the diamond jig for bonita or macks, what size do you recommend ounce wise ???
It's more for kings, bonito, jacks and bluefish. Weight depends on your rod rating and how windy it is. +SHABAZZ T
where can you get the deerfield lure you were talking about?
Do you have a video on shark fishing from piers? Or is it the same process as cast fishing from shore? thank you
What kind of line do you recommend
What would you use for days with rough water and wind on the pier?
Do you bait the pompano with that tear drop jig or just use the jig alone.
Gotcha rigs are the best for macks hands down. I can pull 15 in 30 mins when they're biting.
They are killer
How do I tie them up? What knot you recommend. I bought my son a gotcha one day out there and he stil has no luck. I got a blue on mine tho. Thanks

Any tips for the Jacksonville area.
Do you have a recommend website to get all of these I live in Indiana and don’t have tackle shops that carry salt water stuff.
Are those also good for California piers?
What size is the gotcha lure?
Thanks for the vid, definitely liking the vid since I'm a common pier fisherman do u think white pompano hair jigs work on Spanish mackerel and what about yellow ones too?
Oh yeah they work great especially when it's too windy to work a crappie jig. +Alex Sigala
ok great and thanks for response
Any idea what to use on Clearwater peir
i caught a parrot on a size 12 rapala x-rap bunker, that was a surprise, it weigh about a pound
How do you fish the diamond?
What’s the hand tied one with the feathers that looks like an octopus
Where can I find the deer field pier special?
Any advice for Destin fishing? Going in August and heard that the Bridge and Okaloosa Pier was on fire then but was wondering if anywhere else and what's good to use then
No idea about there
I'm new to saltwater fishing and pier fishing so how do you work the diamond jigs?? Is it more like vertical jigging or like casting out and letting it flutter ripping off the bottom and letting flutter again?

Either connect Gotcha , to mono/fluoro/ or wire leader, but always need mono between your main line if you are fishing braid as your main line.
hi, whats the name of the las lure?
Does the color on the gotcha lure matter? I searched around a little while and couldn't find the one in the vid. Great video you just earned a like and sub from me
No both chartreuse and red work equally as good. Thanks for watching and subbing! +Saltology
Which is better for the gotcha lures a metal body or plastic body?
Both work
i've seen the white body and red head (plastic looking ones) kill blue fish in the winter. i just don't care for that fish
I prefer metal bc it shines and attracts fish
Thanks partner !
Thank you
I got 4oz pyramid sinker is that to heavy for pier fishing?
KillerCroc Gaming it depends on your rod and the current/waves but I'd say 2-4 oz is about right
Wow just bought 3 of each of those!
What is that last lure called? The shiny with yellow head?
the company that makes it is called Gotcha. but since there are others making it like tsunami and buccaneer. it's just a piece of metal with hooks on it. mackerel will bite anything if they're around
what is the best for around Tampa/st.pete
I believe most of your piers, are low lying and you have the skyway bridge to fish. I love spoons on the west coast. Docs goofy jig for pompano.
Thanks
great video but I can't hear the names of the lures. can you listed them in order for me please
How do you fish something so small off a pier like a spro jig? I feel like you couldn't get it out very far at all
yeah no kidding. they don't fly far at all
Gotchas and bubble rigs!!
Thanks awesome
Great video
I don't about killing the fish . What if I want to catch and release.🤓
Accidentally bought deep drop crankbait for pier fishing instead of shallow drop crankbait :(
Will the spook catch blue fish
Hell yeah +Robby Ellenberger

I now make my home made spooks but I make bass lures are the bass spooks and salt water spooks the same size
Nice man, I have been wanting to make my own soft plastics as those are so $$$$$$$$$.
I'm in woodshop shop this year so I stared making wooden lures. I might try to make the last lure you showed. I need to get some of those. I don't have any in my tackle box.

What's Good For High Piers?
Lures that are heavier such as a gotcha or diamond jig or heavier bucktail jig (2oz). Or a plug like an xrap with a lip, A topwater like a spook will just float if its windy.
