Hey guys! We are here chillin answering comments! Today’s question, what are some of your favorite pier fishing lures and rigs? I’m sure I didn’t cover all of them!
I tried a gray shad colored saltwater assassin fluke with a 1/4 ounce chartreuse shad head and switched up with a bunker colored 3/8 ounce spro bucktail the bluefish liked it the first hour but then the bite got slower so I tried a shrimp rig with some clams only caught 1 15 inch bluefish
I couldn’t tie a dropper loop to save my life, lol. You should make a video of yourself trying to use a Sabiki rig-in as many scenarios as you can think of. There isn’t much too much coverage on that technique. Tight lines!
One question I had was whether the height of the pier would impact what swim bay to use? Many of the California coast piers are really high up and the angle of retrieval feels off.
Here's a little trick I use with a sinker. I attach an ordinary paper clip to my line and put the weight on that. It has very low break away weight. If my weight snags in the rocks, that's all I'll lose.
I love all kinds of lures and rigs that's how u check out what bites the most in styles remember all species have different ways to eat on there moods. I just experience anything new to get excitement to see what the fish behaviors on the bites that's the fun of sports to challenge tks keep doing what your hearts do keep on fishing
Great video y’all a video suggestion would be to do a food chain challenge! How it works is you start with something like sand flees and slowly work your way up the chain until you catch big fish! Love the channel much love from San Antonio Texas
I love gotcha plugs I catch pompano, jacks, ladyfish, spanishmack, speckled trourt, blue fish and much more I also like fishfiner rigs with fishbites and dead shrimp.
I like to start off with a speck rig when I get to a pier after I’ve set up a pole with live bait. I’ve also used the lures to catch live bait while I’m waiting on the big rod to get picked up. I’ll also use a modified speck rig, where I’ll only have a jig head on the bottom leader, but leave the top leader with an unweighted swim bait. After a few minutes I can narrow down where in the water column the fish are at. For example, if I’m getting more fish caught on the jig head, I know they are on bottom. My second favorite lure for pier fishing is a rattle trap style lure. Especially in really murky/dirty water.
I’m from Texas and fish the gulf coast here. Primarily the surf, piers, and wade fish the bays on occasion. One of the greatest kept secrets to pulling big fish off of jetties are using big spoons, 2-4 oz towards the end of the jetties at the edge of the deep water.
Good advice. thanks. I have used a lure once or twice and didn't have any luck. I tried this morning for 3 min. before a lady got her line into mine, then went back to my live bait. I fish the jetty always. Think I'll go buy a spoon and try it again.
The pier where I fish mostly is at Huntington Beach Pier in CA. Sabiki are used mostly because Mackerel and Smelts are always present at the end of the pier. Sometimes I see a few shark anglers there, but I'm not too interested in that. Anglers here use Carolina Rigs or Fish Finder Rigs to fish for Perch, Striped Sand Bass, and Yellowfin Croaker. These fish are mostly near mid or even beginning of the pier; though they use mussels to fish these. I wonder if spoons or the "flounder rig" works here at the pier. It seems it would work for surf fishing just north of my pier like around Dog Beach or near the jetty. I'm just so use to bait fishing for Mackerels and Smelts that I want to fish other species xD.
Mario rodriguez from Ontario California Great video really good information & tips really appreciate thanks keep up the amazing videos can’t wait for the next video 👍🏼
Hey! Fish from piers alot. Super useful. Im starting to make my own salt clams and thinking about starting fishing channel! Its great what you do. Tight Lines!
Thanks senko skipper for the help go back to mexico to where I where born, giant carp mojarra aguascalientes mexico .you'll be very welcomed ,you team it making a great job
Do you ever fish So.Cal.?I notice alot of your videos are out of Florida and the Gulf waters...Does the baits and fishing tricks you use change in the Pacific waters??
awesome video lol i remember 1st starting using lures on freshwater, i wasn't sure if it was gonna work but ever since i was able to catch fish with it, lure fishing has become so addictive lol
I don't have a pier near me but I do have plenty of rock structure and a couple jetties (northern CA). For cut bait, do you recommend a carolina rig or the high/low? For swimbaits/ lures do you recommend tying directly or would a snap swivel attachment be ok? do you put a trailer on the swim baits or lures (squid etc) ?
Hi guys are you ever coming to England to fish. Yes we have some peers here in England but some of them we cannot fish I love your videos and watch them all the time I'm still trying to learn how to tie knots so take care & thank you, oh are you shipping to England yet ?
Some brand of soft plastic swim baits advertises with fish attractant as well. Do you know how long the attractant generally lasts for when in use? Tx.
What kind of rig do you recommend for fishing off the rocks which also contain a ton of barnacles in the water. We kept getting our hooks 100% stuck last time. I'm thinking a stray line rig. Appreciate it if you answer. Cheers.
Do you have a basic rod/reel combo you’d recommend for some occasional pier fishing with a bit of fresh water fishing? Trying to stay below maybe $75, thanks in advance! Keep the videos coming.
My favorite pier fishing rigs are the Sabiki rigs, Paternoster rig and the Float rig and lures are: the Gotcha Plug, the USB Rechargeable Twitching lure , the Rapala X-Rap ,Diamond jig and the Bucktail jig😎😎😎😎. I would like you to test out a lure for me called the USB RECHARGEABLE TWITCHING LURE😉😉😉
Is there some kind of artificial bait. That will be good. To use with a float of some kind to cast it out. And just let it set. Out there. That will get the fish to bit it and take it. That with the float will set itself. And catch fish ( passively. ) I am a outdoor survival Bushcraft man. If so what is it and how does it work that have a good chance of working
Great video ... do you have any recommendations for the pier but from the west coast I’m pretty new to fishing and just know the basic but I always get with tiny bass or stingrays ... keep it up 🙂

I dont leave home without a gotcha plug
What do you catch on gotcha? Blues, Mac?
Nice man, yea those bluefish get so aggressive with the swimbaits, often times biting my plastic in half!
@@HeySkipper never tried but possibly will try in the future
Going for our first saltwater fishing trip to Galveston in 2 months. I'm devouring your videos trying to get prepared. Great information!
