    Do you think there is a big difference between fresh and frozen shrimp when targeting whiting? Also, is a pompano rig ideal, or a different one? I'm fishing on Folly Beach, SC.

    • @SaltSquatch
      @SaltSquatch  4 года назад

      Fresh is best as frozen often leads to catfish. I like to tie single drop pompano rigs with 10lb flouro and size 4 or 6 hooks (no beads or floats). If you don’t have access to that, then yes, use a pompano rig.

      @@SaltSquatch last question haha. For the single drop rig for whiting, how long is the whole rig and how far from the sinker should the drop be?

    • @SaltSquatch
      @SaltSquatch  4 года назад

      A lot of it is personal preference, but my whiting leaders are about 18”-24” and I tie both low single drop and high. I haven’t found one work better than the other...middle of the leader should work just fine!

    Spot on, I just don't know how y'all catch with color. I just started watching these shows within the year and literally caught nothing with floats and beads. Took them out of my bag around 4 months ago and started catching Pompano, Reds and Whiting. FRESH bait, I've noticed, is the key as well. Thanks for the video Phil,,,

    • @SaltSquatch
      @SaltSquatch  4 года назад +1

      I’m sure that it varies based on a lot of factors...you absolutely have to have the right bait combined with added color. I’ve also had days that they would only bite without beads and floats. Keep doing what works!
