Would it be better to switch those black legs to the rear? I am just thinking of the lateral stability of the rack when you are reracking a heavy bar. Now that you don't have the third set of uprights behind the primary uprights that hold your j-cups, it seems like the rack would be more likely to tilt/shift when tossing a heavy bar into the racks. Having those feet in the rear would stiffen up the lateral support quite a bit (it seems).
I use the front posts for heavy work (squats) and the rear for light work (bench). My thought process is when I rack a heavy squat I’m pushing the bar forward into the front posts, so having the feet there prevent any potential tipping.

Here in OZ we don't have as many Rogue racks to choose from. The one I am looking at is the RML 390F. I do like the one you have but not available in OZ. Thank you for the videos.
My first time watching your videos. Great job, I watch all of your videos in this series. As you were finally reviewing the Rogue, I was thinking to myself why not just go with a full rack instead. Not disappointed at all that you didn't go a 1/2 rack. Thanks for your detailed thought process. P.S. Yes I hit the Liked & I subscribed.
Hey man I appreciate that. I didn't think I could fit one initially, but at the end it just made sense and I'm happy with the route I went. I actually just made it into a 6 post rack.
Even though Rogue is not my favorite brand theirs some equipment they make so well it’s hard not to go with them. And their racks are definitely one of them.
Mark Marco there is a lot of great equipment out there. There’s no point in owning 20 barbells for example, so selling equipment I don’t use to buy new stuff is an easy way to get to use cool shit and not loose any money as it almost always retains value.
Brandon Campbell Diamond you had 20 barbells, you sold them all, but they will come back again for sure, not only barbells...By the way I was just asking because its a lot of waste of money...I am not judging anyones wallet but by now with that money you could have owned already a commercial gym.
Mark Marco hardly any waste actually when you factor in how much they cost, minus how much I sold them for, and how long I owned them. Ends up being about the cost of a gym membership.
Restoration plates! Would be nice, some elbow grease and can turn the plates into a theme to match the rack, gunmetal with black lettering...my two cents, I'm myself saving up for one and thank you for sharing your thought process great insight. Cheers from Los Angeles
Love the rack! Great choice with the white, very clean look. I was expecting blue actually. Hope the paint doesn’t get nicked up too much with use, but you probably won’t have that issue with a rogue product. Well done! Can’t wait to see the new plates and barbells.
I think in some areas it will (especially if I use the pin safeties). One of the nice things about the attachments being padded is it protects the steel.
Brandon Campbell Diamond Great point! I think the set up is going to look wicked with the addition of some colored bumper plates or Competition plates, assuming you went that route.
I like that rack. I need to get a new one. Shipping is a deal breaker for me. If the shipping adds too much to the cost I skip the buy. I worked in transportation for 40 years. Shipping costs are very flexible. Companies can get volume discounts from truck lines. The more they ship (shipments per week, per month) the better the discount. Who knows if they even pass that savings to us. Rogue has that buy three it ships free deal. Who needs three racks in the basement?
Brandon Campbell Diamond To each their own... I love the flat foot design and certainly helped me with max height limitations. What is your issue with FFD? Aesthetically not pleasing or???
I've found that it's harder to get it level on uneven flooring compared to that of a post design. Design also does not allow you to use band pegs spotter arms, or add an extension if desired.
The slinger is something practical. I don’t like hanging loosely. I’d prefer not to have straps moving parts near the top of my rack A) it gets in the way B) possibly dangerous I may go with a separate lat pull down or a spud inc pulley instead
Alex Figueroa I DIY a spud inc pulley, bought the cable and hardware from a home store and paired it with a loading pin from Rogue. I then bought a full set of (paired) bands from EliteFTS during the Holliday’s. Probably $200 total cost. IMO it’s a better set-up. Couple the pulley with bands for a quick warm up and then add steel weights for more resistance, but most of the time I use weights and bands for varying resistance. The added bonus is having a full set of bands that can also be used for other barbell work. The base slinger unit is about $300. Add bands and it jumps to over 360. Doesn’t seems financially/functionally practical when the same can be done for under $200 with more versatility.
I'll try to talk about this when I eventually do the slinger video. I had the Spudd Inc pulley previously and it ended up working out really well. The slinger is much higher quality (pulleys, cable, attachment, smoothness), but function-wise it's not as versatile other than having a higher mount point.
Are the band-pegs actually useful in this config? Since the rack isn't bolted to the ground, don't you run the risk of the bands lifting the rack up off the ground?
That is a great rack. The storm trooper look is sweet. I hope you do the video on the weights you picked up. Its good to get a knowledgeable opinion on different types of equipment
Loving the new rack. It’s a nice look. DM me more rack pics 👀. Jokes sides I think this will hold its value really well, which if I’m not mistaken was your goal to begin with.
Love the content as always! So I’m about to order a REP Fitness PR4000 with 80in Uprights & 30in Crossmembers. Is the rear stabilizer necessary for stability or will multiple weight horns with 345lb’s of plates be enough to stabilize it? Thank you as always for the great input!
Hey Brandon, I was wondering if it is enough to have the stabilizers only in the front. When I squat or bench I typically place the hooks and barbell on the back of the rack. Does it stand safely? If yes, what exactly are the stabilizers for then? Only for keeping it stable when doing pull-ups?
Stabilizers make the rack much more stable and also help prevent tipping. If you're racking on the back of the rack but only have the feet on the front, I'd worry it could still tip backwards.
So they've actually been pretty good so far. I sent them pics of the bolts and they saw the chip on my crossmember and they said they'd send a new one without me asking
What was the final cost with the upgrades and so forth? If you don't mind sharing...??? I liked the series. It was a very interesting to hear your thought process. Thanks for sharing Brandon.
Brainchild Designer for the rack and rack upgrades (straps, name plate, sandwich cups) it was $1395 before shipping and tax. Not counting the slinger, monster feet or plate storage however as they are largely unnecessary.
Do have plenty of room to bench with weights on the plate storage? Any problems hitting them? Thinking about going with satin clear to avoid the "no paint in the inside of the uprights problem" Thanks for pointing that out. As always great review!
Brandon, first of all, thank you for the information you have provided on your channel: it has answered a lot of questions I have had as I am in the final throes of the process of selecting the "right rack" and I am narrowing my sights on the Rogue RM-4. I have a couple of questions that I hope you might be able to shed some light on. 1. Finish. I am concerned about corrosion and for this reason am looking at the Stainless Steel option (+$900) or Black Cerakote option (+$430). I am wondering whether (a) these two finishes are more effective against corrosion and just general wear and tear such as bangs with some other heavy piece and (b) if this constitutes throwing money away, or will I be able to get it back if and when I try to sell the rack? In case I choose a standard powder-coat finish, does this coat cover the INSIDE surfaces of the tubes sufficiently well to protect against corrosion? 2. Plate and bar storage: on the rack or separately on a rack tree? Since I am planning to use a shrimp trawler (for a kickboxing bag or may be rings in the future) and I am NOT planning to bolt the rack down (though I WILL use the feet), I am thinking of hanging the weights on the side of the rack that is opposite of where I will place the trawler, to provide some counterbalance, for stability. By the way, I am small (135 lbs) and older (67) so the weights I will use will be correspondingly on the smaller side. Will this work, or should I either bolt it down, or not use the trawler? Thanks again.
TBH I don't think you'll run into corrosion issues on a rack unless it's outside or in extreme humidity. Even then the other finishes are still not worry free. The powder coat only really gets the outside although some overspray will get inside the tubing. For stabilizing, it might be good to have some low weight storage to balance things out, but I wouldn't go crazy with it until you get it and see what's needed.
Nicholas Magnani that’s because most gym owners saw how wasteful they are. You could invest in a set of bands and accomplish the same effect without the “Rogue” price tag.
I have a solid set of bands now but I thought slinger might be cool. It didn’t seem like he was very impressed w/ it in the little bit it was mentioned in the video.
I enjoy your ramblings on fitness equipment. I find them informative and entertaining. Brandon, will your give me your thoughts on the good quality grip weights with urethane or rubber covering. Is there such a thing? Also, what's your opinion on fold away racks? Thanks. Lastly, I subscribed to your channel first then Coop's at Garage Gym Reviews.
I never really liked grip plates personally, mostly b/c I haven't seen any that hold much benefit over good steel plates with a lip on them (or the Rogue six shooters/Ivanko revolvers). I also don't care too much for the ones with coatings on them as I've also seen them age poorly over time (especially if not in a temp controlled environment). But that being said if there's a set you like and they're affordable and have good tolerances, no reason why you shouldn't get them. For fold away racks, I don't really see a big advantage over a squat stand. My biggest gripe is that they look similar to a full cage, but don't offer the functionality of training inside of them.
Hey Brandon, what do you think about 100in high racks? I want a taller rack because I’m 6’2 with a 77in reach and enjoy doing pull ups and other hanging exercises with room to hang with straight legs, however I’m conflicted because I’m worried about being able to fit my rack in my home. Right now my set up is in my Dad’s garage and the ceilings are about 12 feet so i have plenty of room for now, but would like to eventually move my set up to my own space, preferably a basement with high ceilings. Do you think this is realistic or do you think keeping the taller rack will be a hassle in the long term?
You’ll need a 9’ basement to fit it in a useable way. In my experience this deep of basement isn’t that prevalent. You could consider going 90” and then getting one of the pull up add ons you can mount for higher usage.
Hey Brandon, love this series of yours. Irish watcher here, and I'm looking to build my own home gym. So far, both the commercial and second hand markets are really thin, in terms of power racks and barbells. I think plates might be easier to find second hand. How would you recommend going about creating a home gym build in Ireland? Is Rogues fitness Europe a good distributor? Power Rack (decent quality that will last but nothing fancy, around 500-750euro) , Barbell (good multi purpose bar 200-300e) and plates (second hand cast iron, maybe a few bumpers). Love to see if you have any advice. Thanks
I think the issue you'll have with Rogue will just be overall cost getting it to you. Things get marked up a ton. I've had a lot of luck on FB marketplace for buying/selling stuff as of late. You might also be able to get a good budget set up to hold you over and upgrade things over time. For instance I liked the StrengthShop Bastard Power bar.
Hey Brandon, have you by chance seen Rogues RM-4 Monster Rack 2.0 in stainless steel? I want to know how it looks because of the huge price difference.
What do you think about the new Rogue stainless steel option for the monster series? Also do you think having bigger holes on the monster series would weaken the rack over the 5/8 monster light. Not that most people would ever lift enough to even make a dent on either rack.
You mentioned that once you had the feet installed you really don't think they're necessary. If you wouldn't have got them would you have bolted it to the floor?
What rack would you recommend for a 16 year old that is looking for a versatile rack. I would like the availability for a pull-up bar and a dip bar. And I am on a budget however I am certainly willing to invest more to get quality and to get above the “cheap” tier. Thank you in advance
Yes I want to know how you like rogues 6 shooters I was debating getting calabrated plates or just regular ones would like to know your comparison between them
Going through the right rack series now. Wanted to get your opinion on RM3 vs RM4. I know you went from a 43” RML to an RM3 (I also had the 43 RML) but curious if you could do it all over again would you still get the RM3? My only concern with the RM3 is I do like the new Monolifts and I might want to do the slinger (plate loaded not bands) at some point. I don’t have the room for a stand-alone lat pull down. I saw your slinger review but unfortunately space is tight it might be my only option (using a spud inc style pulley before). Given my potential attachments would you still get the RM3? Thanks in advance!
I don't think i'd ever go deeper than 30" again personally. I can do everything I can do in a 43" depth as is. If your budget allows, I might look into the Surplus Strength UPS pulley. Really integrates well. I'll be doing a review soon (and giving mine away).

I own rmlF and I love it I bought my big brother a rml490 and he loves it. 👍🏽
Hah I really tried to stray, but in the end it was the best rack!
Yo bro what do you think about an Eleiko powerbar vs the Kabuki powerbar
I think if you're spending that much you should consider the Eleiko for sure. I think I said that in my Kabuki review a year or two back actually!
Please do a video on the weights, and also what barbell/s you will be using at this temp location.
Will do!
Thats got to be a better option than a half rack, 30inch is deep enough to work in, standard pull up bar, if you can fit you head in that gap.
I think you made the right choice, still bet there's a bit of you still thinking about the other ones 😂😂😂.
Feet at least look cool, even if they don't add much.
I'm looking forward to the plates. I hope you find some old York barbells ones covered in rush and have to do them up 👍
Def would be a sweet restoration job, sadly not a lot in my area currently!
Scary how much I relate to your gear-related O.C.D, B.C.D...
Hah great minds think alike!
Great decision process and therefore a great end result. I haven't seen many of the Monster racks in white and it manages to look both classy and simultaneously badass. Congrats!
Scott Ohlms let’s hope I can keep it clean, although some people like a dirty rack 😉
go to a nuts and bolts place, they have black bolts there (just not shiny looking)
Gotcha!
York has a decent price on their Legacy plates that are within 2% accuracy and sometimes runs sales and they look super slick.
I actually priced them out and it wasn't much of a savings vs what I got (and mine ended up being 1% accuracy).
I replaced one side of my safety strap bolts with 5/8 grade 5 hitch pins so I could easily remove then to use my lever arms and slinger.
Might have to do that, smart thinking.
@@BasementBrandon also for your next rack its easier to set them up solo if you use the band pegs to line up the bolt holes and hold things loosely in place while your bolting it together.
I know it probably sucks for you, but I actually really like the format of these videos! Your neurosis is only slightly higher than mine, and your equipment buying knowledge is lighters ahead. So if you can do all the worrying for me... That would be great. Haha! I would spend another 90 minutes on plate choices
haha appreciate the kind words.
Brandon how would you make rogue sml squat stand monster and monster lite squat stand more versatility, do you have any ideas for rogue Maybe add jammer arms to it. What would you do to add.💪💪💪👍👍👍🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️
TBH a conversion kit like they offer for some of their other squat stands would be a good start.
Your videos helped me to make decision to purchase the right rack - thank you
Great to hear!
I’ve been watching soooo many power rack/ gym equipment reviews. This is good informative content
I appreciate it!
Nit pickin the over spray inside the uprights... LOL.....safety straps look a little stiff as well.
Coming from a RML it’s an important thing to point out 😝
@@BasementBrandon Are those safety straps too short or just stiff?
David Holzman neither!
@@BasementBrandon so why no slack? How do you angle them if they are so tight?
David Holzman they have slack still
Here in OZ we don't have as many Rogue racks to choose from. The one I am looking at is the RML 390F. I do like the one you have but not available in OZ. Thank you for the videos.
Ah yeah def tough outside of the US!
I hear ya!
Make a video on the weights!
Looks like I'll have to do that.
Why you buy a lot of equipments and then sell them again then buy them again? Do you keep your motivation buy spending a lot of money? Sorry to ask
Def would like to do that, just haven't found any ones worthwhile yet!
WOwww didn't know Rogue had that pulley system- i'm excited to see a review.
I am so onboard with Rogue and Sorinex now.
Initial impressions are not that great, hoping my opinion changes!
Lol true, but I don't think the 3 for free applies to racks. You do get free shipping on anything over $5k though, so get to spending!
@@BasementBrandon I think you are right. There are two ways to get free shipping. $5,000+ is a little much for me though. LOL
Great video, knew you would get the rogue.
I can testify to Brenden being helpful with equipment, helped me with gym ideas!
ha i honestly tried to go a different route, but when I laid everything out, it was the best choice for me.
@@BasementBrandon haha i am sure.... I thought i wouldnt go rogue also as i sat building my rig on their website
Very analytical. I like it.
appreciate it!
I think you should have gone with the RML-390F. Not 1” hardware, but does not require bolt down, can add plate storage and is 30”.
Didn't want 5/8", had it on my old rack. I also am not a fan of the flat foot design.
Brandon Campbell Diamond
To each their own...
Love it, perfect garage gym rack
Fits the space nicely IMO!
@@BasementBrandon nice power rack what was final cost
This is not what I expected when I clicked on the video, but still great.
Hah sorry to let you down!
Congrats on the rack dude it looks really good in white.
Thanks boss!
The slinger is something practical. I don’t like hanging loosely. I’d prefer not to have straps moving parts near the top of my rack
A) it gets in the way
B) possibly dangerous
I may go with a separate lat pull down or a spud inc pulley instead
As a sort of beginner. How much weight and it what sizes should you buy in your opinion?
I think just picking them up 2nd hand locally makes teh most sense, need a pair of each for the most part, 2 pairs of 10s, and a few pairs of 45s
Troy calibrated plates I found to be the cheapest deep dish plates
I looked at those actually, but they weren't cheap for the machined ones.
Are the band-pegs actually useful in this config? Since the rack isn't bolted to the ground, don't you run the risk of the bands lifting the rack up off the ground?
Rack is too heavy as is. Could also use the plate storage pins to weigh it down further.
Basement Brandon feature length movie / gym equipment reviews coming soon to a theater near you!
See my bald head in 3d.
That is a great rack. The storm trooper look is sweet. I hope you do the video on the weights you picked up. Its good to get a knowledgeable opinion on different types of equipment
Will do.
Saw your shirt, are you Canadian??? Love your videos, helping me see what's possible with looking for a rack I won't have to bolt down
No sir, but I do support my northern brothers.
Loving the new rack. It’s a nice look. DM me more rack pics 👀. Jokes sides I think this will hold its value really well, which if I’m not mistaken was your goal to begin with.
Lol, get your own rack!!
Great great great series!! More please buddy!
Will try to do a plate video.
Can do a video on elite fts sabertooth bench press bar please. Thanks
If I ever come across one!
Love the content as always!
So I’m about to order a REP Fitness PR4000 with 80in Uprights &
30in Crossmembers. Is the rear stabilizer necessary for stability or will multiple weight horns with 345lb’s of plates be enough to stabilize it? Thank you as always for the great input!
Will def be enough, but the stabilizer also insures your rack is square.
Awesome build !!! Brandon... I’m looking at a similar rack, do you recommend the weight storage add on or a weight tree ?
I don't like using weight storage on a 4 post rack personally, so I'd prob go weight tree.
What make it worth buying a power rack over a squat rack if you don't squat over 500lbs?
Safety and versatility.
Rogue should give you even better service. Don´t they know that you´re the master of gym equipment?:)
So they've actually been pretty good so far. I sent them pics of the bolts and they saw the chip on my crossmember and they said they'd send a new one without me asking
That´s more like it Brandon! Enjoy the training now:)
@@BasementBrandon
Thanks Brandon.
It looks to be a nice addition to your current space.
I'm lookimg forward to future videos.
Great job!!! Loved the process!
thanks for taking a look!
Which company makes the J-cups with the roller bearing? Thanks for another great video...
These were made by an individual in his free time. I posted about it on my IG a week or so ago if you're interested.
Do have plenty of room to bench with weights on the plate storage?
Any problems hitting them?
Thinking about going with satin clear to avoid the "no paint in the inside of the uprights problem"
Thanks for pointing that out.
As always great review!
I have yet to use them as I initially thought I'd need to weigh the rack down but the front feet do an awesome job of adding stability.
Brandon,
first of all, thank you for the information you have provided on your channel: it has answered a lot of questions I have had as I am in the final throes of the process of selecting the "right rack" and I am narrowing my sights on the Rogue RM-4.
We need a review or opinion on the new Rogue stainless steel monster rack!
Looks nice and I'm sure it is, but I wouldn't pay that much more for no added benefit.
Also, can we get a grand total on the rack with the attachments? Maybe even a price breakdown on each item?
The rack and upgrades for it ran $1395 before shipping/tax.
love the color, although I would have went green monster
TBH I don't like green.
Really lookin forward to the slinger review. Haven’t been able to find any reviews or videos of it in use.
I think it has some pros, but also a handful of cons.
Where do they sell the roller j-cups?
They don't. It's a guy I know who makes them in his free time!
@@BasementBrandon I guess I'll check your Instagram for more info.
I just saw the J hook rollers. How much and from where did you get them?
@@BasementBrandon
Thank you, for the information and quick reply.
What kind of tape are you using for the mats? Also, rogue is never the wrong choice always a safe pick, I like it a lot
Just Gorilla Tape
@@BasementBrandon Thanks for the advice man. Hope the new rack works out for you. It looks pretty cool
Hey Brandon, have you by chance seen Rogues RM-4 Monster Rack 2.0 in stainless steel? I want to know how it looks because of the huge price difference.
If you shoot me a DM on IG I'll link you to a person who owns one. I have not seen one in person.
@@BasementBrandon will do. Thanks a ton.
do you think you still need the storage pins even thou you have the long feet up front and you stated is very rack is very stable?
Nope def not, never used them in this set up.
I’m kinda surprised that they wouldn’t work with you on shipping considering the impact you have on the home gym community.
Eh I'm small potatoes!
Would you feel comfortable benching outside of the rack with spotter arms without it being bolted to the floor and without the extra feet you added?
No
What do you think about the new Rogue stainless steel option for the monster series? Also do you think having bigger holes on the monster series would weaken the rack over the 5/8 monster light. Not that most people would ever lift enough to even make a dent on either rack.
Looks nice, but serves no real benefit IMO and it's at a very steep price.
You mentioned that once you had the feet installed you really don't think they're necessary. If you wouldn't have got them would you have bolted it to the floor?
No I would prob just have used more plate storage.
Looks insane! Awesome work bro!
Thanks dude!
Wish you could detach the safety traps
I made a video showing an easy mod to do so.
“Long story short, I told dem who da fuq I is” - Brandon Campbell
Haha they don't care trust me!
What rack would you recommend for a 16 year old that is looking for a versatile rack. I would like the availability for a pull-up bar and a dip bar. And I am on a budget however I am certainly willing to invest more to get quality and to get above the “cheap” tier. Thank you in advance
You can get some pretty cheap yet decent builds through Titan. Check out my x-3 video.
Nice choice, go stainless next time with the new house, bling bling!
Hah if there were any benefit other than costing more then I would!
Yes I want to know how you like rogues 6 shooters I was debating getting calabrated plates or just regular ones would like to know your comparison between them
Will likely do
Going through the right rack series now.
Going to miss the old blue, but the white is growing on me
Figured it would stand out more in the dingy garage
Do you think you could do banded deadlifts against those extended front legs without them bolted down or would they even work well for those?
I wouldn't suggest it
