If you’re taller and have a reciprocating saw (sawzall) get the skinny/fat combo and cut off the fat bar with a steel cutting blade. That lets you put the skinny bar at the highest point. I’m 6’2 and can kip after doing that.
I should be getting mine tomorrow. Thanks for the honest review! I have 25 lb spare plates lying around that can hold this down (they're not olympic plates). Can't wait..... All I'm waiting for is plates to be restocked 😅
I just got mine two weeks ago. no regrets! this thing has solved my no-gym problem. I was wondering if the matador would be ok on this, so thanks for mentioning that.
Very helpful! First time buying a squat stand and I really didn’t know the diffeeence between pull up bars. I’m 5’8 and I think I’m gonna go with regular now :)
My biggest question is how does the fat skinny bar work? Swapping them out as needed? I see so many pictures of them stacked and I have no clue how to use the top bar. Also, have you tried the neutral grip adapters for the fat skinny combo? They seem like they would be super loose but I hope they’re a great accessory. I’m hoping to get my own SML 2 soon! Although I’ve heard that rogue runs Black Friday deals sometimes (although I doubt it’s on racks like this right?)
Awesome review. Do you recommend getting the rogue side pegs to hold plates with the sml-1 or other brand/type, or is at all the same shit? Can you fit a few on each side without them getting in the way of the loaded barbell racking placements? Tks !
When I release the bar from j-hooks for do some squats I hit the edge of my bumper plates and those have some scratches. How I can avoid this? Do you recommend other j-hooks? Thx for the answer
I think it makes a difference but not as big as you’d think. But, I’m not sure if this applies to the whole range but the infinty rig is being discontinued.
Did u ever get a new adjustable bench. I just got the ab-5200/getrxd copy and it doesn't work with the sml2 because the back crossmember gets in the way of the benches feet. You have to reverse the bench to face inside and then you can't have the rack near the wall at all. Very disappointing
Awesome. For some reason I was only considering a full cage type…but I’m buying stuff for garage just for accessory work or make up a WOD I’ve missed during the week and maybe start a squat program that don’t have time to hang out at the gym for extra hour… don’t think I really need a full cage. 🤷🏼♂️Seriously considering now. Thanks
Ordered mine couple weeks back and its almost here. Have you looking into the hr2 conversion for it? I'm thinking about ordering a custom hr2 with 90 uprights instead of 70 and extra crossmember to make a lat pull down system in the rack
Should I cancel my SML-1 order and go for the SML-2 instead? I want to add plate storage pins like you have so I'm worried I'd have to buy a pull up bar for the SML-1 anyway for stability, and if you buy a pull-up bar separately then it doesn't come with the hardware. However, I really like the low-profile of the SML-1.
So I have a short titan t3 power rack. I want to get something taller. Is the rml2 more or less stable than the titan t3? I do want to do BMUs on them if possible. Thanks for all the reviews over the years!
Thank you for the review. I heard the part were this was left out in the box for a long time. I have no garage, what are your thoughts of this squat rack holding up outside in the elements 24/7? Again thanks for your reviews.
It was out in the cardboard it came in for probably 2 years untouched, haha. To be honest I was scared when I was opening it up but there was almost no rust at all. I think if you just put a tarp on it, it’ll hold up for years.
I cancelled my Titan T-2 backorder and purchased this one today after your review. However, since spotter arms weren't on the stock, I couldn't get them. I know you answer X3 Spotter Arm fits SML2. What about Rep Fitness one? PR-4000 Spotter arms seem to have same dimension and pin size. Do you know if that will work with SML2? Also thank you for the great review.
I recommend you check these out - burlifit.com/collections/all/products/mammoth-safety-spotter-arms They fit perfectly, made in the USA and the right price.
As Many Reviews As Possible cool I’ll check them out! Since they are pretty new in the industry, only thing worries me if they have done any type of drop tests. But it looks pretty solid
I really want to buy one of these but I'm hesitant to leave it outdoors where my workout area is. Has anyone had experience leaving one outside for an extended time? (Outside of the boxes)
as long as there is no damage on the powder coat, it will not rust and will survive the elements. however once it chips (mine was chipped cuz ups decided to drag it across the floor when they delivered it) you might get rust but if you cover it with a tarp from home depot when it rains, you should be fine. MY biggest concern with leaving it outside was the spiders but just use cork to plug the unused holes on the bottom
If your weather isn't too extreme, you could just get an ez up canopy. Not gonna work if you get high wind though. Then get any kind of cheap cover to protect the rack for rainy days.
Hey Brother just subscribed i have a question not related to this video i saw one of your videos about barbell drop pads or pound pads i was wondering if you could drop cast iron plates on them lets say 300pounds that should be ok right? Thank you and stay safe
Great review. Do you know if there is a minimum height the standard single pull up bar should be mounted at.... I’m 6’1” but garage ceiling height roughly 97 inches and thinking about clearance on my pullups. Will probably need to modify my pullup technique a bit but can single bar be mounted at say 80 inches?
I purchased this and absolutely love it. I had physically looked at a squat rack from Fray Fitness that was cheaper, came with more accessories, and I wouldn't had any shipping cost but I when with the SML2 even though it was more expensive and I had to pay for shipping.
@@AMRAP awesome. Just orderedthe black one. They are in stock but on this particular item it says ships in 14-28 business days. I know they usually ship in stock items within a week. Have you had any experience on the 14-28 day ship time items?
@@Dhobby517 the distance from the back of the rack to the end of the j cups is about 30.5 inches. The j cups are about 4 inches long so the barbell would be in between 26.5-29.5 inches from the back. This is because of the j cups and there structure.
@@circumcisionismurder7415 the did not fit cleanly. Scraped off a good amount of top coat paint to get them on and off. I ended up just buying the appropriate rogue spotter arms.
Ordered this rack in ROGUE red with black hardware with the single pull up bar a week ago, can't wait to get it. Thanks for the review.

Pull up bar hacks!
Why don't you just get the single bar option ? It's free to pick that option instead, unless you were given the bar like that.
Thanks! I have been trying to figure out a solution for raising the pull-up bar. A bit expensive but might be worth it.
I have my SML-1 being shipped right now. So excited to get it. Thanks for your review.
Thanks as always, Joel. Just ordered one of these a few days ago. Really looking forward to it.

I have an SML-2C in blue and love it; fantastic squat stand!
I just got mine two weeks ago. no regrets! this thing has solved my no-gym problem. I was wondering if the matador would be ok on this, so thanks for mentioning that.
I had a matador on my s-2 and it worked fine so I have no doubt it wouldnt work on this.
Hey man does it come with the spotter arms?
@@youngman7655 no, that's a sperate purchase
Any comment on this rack compared to the S2 ? I m not sure which one to buy. Thanks
Buy the sml2...it's not much more for a more sturdy rack with more attachments. Rogue is pretty much discontinuing 2x3 attachments.
Thanks Joel! This was super helpful and thorough, can't wait to receive soon. Much appreciated my friend.
Can I sit mine in the back yard under a tarp?
Great review don’t see many people not loving this

How do I choose a home gym power rack?

The Titan t-3 tall squat rack at $330 shipped, after tax, on sale has been great value for me. 😊

Can I use iron weights?
Thanks! Where did find your attachments - ie., weight holders and dip attachment?
They were purchased with the rack a while ago.
Looks like TTB are practical. How are rings on it?
What tools did you use to assemble your squat rack?
I've been waiting for them to restock the sky blue color, but is it even worth the wait when I can just buy the red or black rn... I like blue.
Does the 3x3 posts really make that much of a difference over the 2x3 in the Rogue S-2 rack? I'm trying to decide between the two.
I think it makes a difference but not as big as you’d think. But, I’m not sure if this applies to the whole range but the infinty rig is being discontinued.
Where do u get that side attachment to store the weights
I love my rack honestly. My lady gets pissed at me because I clean it
Can you add a pulley attachment anywhere on here?

Possibly a single landmine but it would have to sit a lot higher. I'm not seeing anything on rogue that's specifically for it though.

Is there a dip bar option?

craig jenkins I think the t-3 would be more stable since you’re probably bolted down. If not then the sml2 would be.
Were you able to do pull up without sandbag or weight on?
did you put the rack directly on top of the mats?

if this is bolted to the concrete floor, would it be safe to do gymnastic movements on the pull up bar?

is it safe to attach TRX straps to the pull up bar? will the rack try to tip forward since trx movements are done on an angle?

do you know the titan x3 wheel brackets would work for this stand too?
What plate tree is that? A quick review on that would be good
Ken Phillip titan, holds plates, finish sucks and wheels are breaking down. But it works holding plates just fine so it’s alright for the money.
@@AMRAP Thanks that's the one I was looking at. Some people say it's wobbly too, but for price might just get it

Has anyone converted this into the full RML-390F full rack? If so, comments....
Can the SML-1 eventually be converted to an SML-2 or HR?
No for the pull-up bar but maybe to the half rack since the height of that is 70 and the sml1 uprights are 72
I think I see a conversion kit from sml1 to sml2 on the website...
JF R ah I couldn’t find one when I looked but I didn’t look that hard. I know the do an s-1
can you do gymnastic ring workouts with this or is it too narrow? is there a rack conversion kit? What is the max height of the pull up bar?
max height of the pull up bar is 90 inches rogue sells taller ones also
Can this rack also be used for bench presses when using an bench
Yes

How many stall mats (dimensions included 4x6?) would you recommend with the squat stand?
4-6. Realistically if you’re not squatting too far off you could get away with 2 but that’s too cramped for me.
Can be used to work out bench press?
Yes it can with the jhooks. I recommend a bench from rep fitness.
Nice review just got this rack, any reason you dont go for a full power rack? Theres a conversion kit to the 390F and I'm considering it
