Just wanted to thank you for doing this! You and Coop have been such incredible guides through the home gym world. These longer videos going over a lot of things briefly are always super interesting.
Definitely agree on longer videos. Would be nice to almost have a two part depending on the person… high level overview first half, nitty gritty details second half
The Jujimufu Gym of the North East...where we have to stay underground for warmth and cooling and because land costs are just stupid at this point... incredible setup that keeps getting better!
Best tour yet! Watched every minute of it. The best part was looking under Iron Bear and finding stuff. haha.. Thanks BB for the tour. Always appreciate your content and inspiration. THE best basement gym on the planet.
Love seeing the progression of your gym, so clean and well laid out. The wife just made her first gym purchase and ordered the peloton bike, would love to see your review on that.
As always. Well done! Layout looks great, and that you've got a perfect flow for your workouts! Whenever you need to unload some of that equipment, I know someone down in NC that can take them off your hands!
Wow!!! That's some set up!!! So awesome!!! And I love the idea of stall mats... I had forgotten about those! Something that I want to look into down the road.

Hey Paul, I have a GHD currently did you maybe mean Reverse Hyper? If the latter, I did have one in my first basement gym but found I didn't get much benefit from it other than a spot to rest my phone.
Brandon great review brother. Your gym changes so many times this was probalby due. Im a big white and black fan and wish I knew your secret on getting Rogue to color match a bench and other things for me. Been looking at the transformer for a bit now, I've got the Rogue SSB but that TB just seems so cool; I'll be waiting on that review anxiously! :)
I believe Rogue will be updating their SSB too. They haven't custom painted much for me in the past 2 years. I inquired about getting a rhino with white frame but they said no go.
Amazing gym, thank you for sharing! Yes, the 30 Barbells are overkill 😂 Like you though I got my Peloton Bike a year ago for my wife as a Christmas gift and found that I used it as much as her. My favorite part of my gym which I would have NEVER expected. Interested in your Pepin review. I have had mine for 6 months now and like some things about them but also have a few things I don’t like.
Yeah it will be interesting to give them a go. I've been on record saying I think IronMasters are the best for my style of training as far as adjustable goes
when you first went with the black and white stormtrooper look I wasn't a fan, it felt like old school hammer strength equipment from the 80's. But since you have customized the whole gym I think it works really well. I still think investing some time and ideas into the walls of your gym would really complete the look although this basement is much nicer looking than your old one.
@@BasementBrandon and the blue rack was lovely. But I’m loving the stormtrooper theme. If you do the walls it could make a good video. A neon logo or a bit lit logo might really pop and also brand your videos a bit
I watched the video about you selling the rogue echo bike. I still think that was one of the best investments for my warmup and health. LISS warmups just take too long lol. Great video! Hopefully, the misses watches it and doesn’t sell everything for dirt cheap if anything happens 😂
For your style of training this gym seems to be perfect. I'm envious of the space you have as I utilize about 180 sq feet. The only thing I'd want in your gym that you don't have is a leg press. That's just me tho
Seems to be a popular choice per the comments. I just have so many ways to train legs now and don't want to give up the massive space a leg press needs. Plus getting it down here would suck lol.
You’ve got room for a nice white and black leg press in the back corner by the hamstring curl. Just justify it by saying it’ll add to your DL once you can start training on one.
Functional trainer would offer some variety my suggestions would be: Cybex Bravo 8800 they have 4:1 or 2:1 options 170 or 350 pound stack this allows some versatility and each arm has 360° articulation and an adjustable stability pad... WAY OVERBUILT The model number is starting the retail cost, free motion double stack (like coop's), or rep/titan nemesis (yeah I know you're not going to go titan)
Sorry if I missed it but do you have lower body machines to do leg curls and extensions? Maybe you have a belt squat machine that I missed? That's an insane gym. You can open it for business and charge people to come train haha!
Welp...I guess I need to step it up. As to what you could add - Brian Shaw has a back attack machine that looks good, as well as some crazy thing he just did with Nick Best that is like a seated hip extension (no idea what it is called). I still am wondering if the Rogue pulley system would be worth getting for my rack and doing an extension off to the side or building a single rack.
Solid gym. Very clean and organized. You’ll even break even in 33.33 years if you had a membership at a nice gym priced at 150 a month. Also: Do you have farmer carry bars?
The nice thing about most of this stuff is it holds it's value really well, so if I ever grew tired of it, I could get most of my money back. No carry items bc it doesn't really align to my training.
Hey Brandon, would you mind doing a video on gym related clothing brands (hviii, A7, massenomics, ext.)? I've found that I really dig wearing gym brands and most of those guys I patronized due to you. Also wondering your thoughts on a hack squat? I'd love one for my garage gym myself.
What you're missing? 😂 Sweet setup with nothing too frivolous (except for maybe that bar collection). 😂 Definitely setting the bar high for the rest of us and thanks for sharing with us my dude!
Awesome video. But please use a gimbal or image stabilization software because I literally started getting motion sickness for how jittery this video is.
Love your stuff, Brandon! Sorry if you’ve mentioned it at one point in the past that I’m not aware of but how about a video on basement radon testing and mitigation? Some basements have more radon than others and levels even vary day by day. The concern is breathing it in, not skin penetration. So if we’re in these nice decked out basements huffing and puffing for hundreds of hours a year for our health and well-being should radon be tested and if high should the mitigation equipment be installed? Arguably it’s less of a concern for garage gyms since they’re typically ground level.
Ah you should def get the basement tested. In this one we have a passive mitigation system in since our levels were low. In my last basement gym (blue rack) they were higher so we had an active system in.
@@BasementBrandon Super I’m happy you’re aware and protected. You do great videos on equipment, lighting, gym timers, etc I think it’s important you throw a dedicated video out there about at least testing basement gyms for radon. Your fans will appreciate it from a wellness/ prevention standpoint since the last thing we want our fitness lifestyle to lead to is sickness - other than shopping addiction, amiright? ( Disclaimer, my job has nothing to do with pulmonology or selling radon mitigation equipment, I just figure if thousands of your subscribers do it a few health scares might be averted.)
First of all, love the videos and love that you respond to comments! I would be interested in your opinion on exxentric products like the kpulley2 or kbox. Or even a review on the legexx system they have. They seem really versatile not only with the available movements but the time spent during training especially if you were short of time one day and wanted to hit a muscle group quickly one day. Or are they in the same category for you like a free motion machine would be?
Thanks for making me feel a lot better about my wasteful gym purchases :) I'm probably at $6k now when I'd be happier with a gym that costs half that. Just waiting for our house upgrade/move -- high basement ceilings is a hard requirement ;) Personally I'm finding a lot of the "essentials" recommended by RUclipsrs like yourself (but not you personally) overrated. E.G. I can't wait to get rid of my platform. I have no idea what the point of it is other than allowing my rep FB 5000 -- an otherwise perfect bench -- to slip, and in general make me feel less secure while moving heavy weights. I definitely prefer your setup of stall mats throughout and will be doing that at the next place. I'm also going to replace my R3 with either the Rogue Yoke or the new Rep yoke/sled releasing this year. Even though I squat 2-3x/wk, a dedicated rack takes up way too much space IMO, with minimal utility (unless you're buying one with all the attachments -- but I think you're better off buying those attachments separately instead of having a rack that's mediocre at everything). Just stick spotter arms on a squat stand and you're just as safe and have the ability to move them around to fit in other things when you're getting bored. As a fellow basement gym-er, the thing I feel like I wish I had the most was space for a sled. So see previous point. New setup will be all horse stall but a lane of turf to do push/pulls and other fun lifting/cardio hybrid exercises you can't do on rubber. Also -- roman chair > GHD IMO -- but no one really makes them. I have a cheap one that I use almost daily, but I'm looking at the Edgefitness standing back extension as a replacement.
Interesting take on the Roman Chair, I don't see how it could possibly be better personally. For the platform, I actually did that in my first basement gym and discussed in a video how it was overkill, have to go a good 6 years back to find it, but it's there!
@@BasementBrandon Ask Bret Contreras. It's a better glute exercise if you're doing it right, it has more utility (hip extension or erector hyper extension) and it has a smaller gym footprint. If you miss the hamstring work of the GHD, just buy a $40 spud strap and do nordic curls with your bench -- which is a better hamstring workout anyway. It's also going to have better carry-over to a deadlift barring significant hamstring weakness/imbalances due to it's closer proximity to the movement. I do think I saw that video a while ago :). I'm much happier with the purchases you've convinced me of (Strength Co plates, roller cups and stainless OPB boneyard) ;)
Great video, what height is your Iron Bear? My PD is getting a new building and we’re trying to figure out how to design the new gym which is unfortunately only gonna be an about 500sq ft. Gonna have to get creative with the space and that iron bear seems like the perfect option for dumbbell/ medicine ball storage.
Weird how different GHD’s can feel. My old gym had a rouge GHD I used all the time and felt great. My new gym has a titan recerse hyper GHD hybrid and it feels terrible so I never use it.
Love the videos man! Question, you seem rather tall yourself. I’m 6’4. Would an 80 inch rack be tall enough? I’ve only got 93/94 inch ceiling in my garage. So I ether go the PR5000 80’ or the Titan series 90’. Kinda torn I like the Rep fitness attachments and equipment more overall. But I’m afraid 80 inches will be too small. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for your time Brandon.
I'm still 6'4" on a good day (fewer and far between these days lol), and an 80" rack would be fine as long as you're ok with having to bend your knees for pull ups.
If property weren't so expensive where I was, maybe! Or at least just a place to house my stuff. I've sold a lot more than I own currently just b/c I don't keep everything.
Great walkthrough, and it looks like you did that in one take. That’s a lot to keep track of. This motivates me to finally do a walk around RUclips video of mine. I’m at about $57k, so I’ve got to get a few more things to catch up. I don’t want you to die, but if your wife decides to list your stuff for $10, consider me first for “is this available?”
Best basement out there by far. Question, I currently have a rogue 45lb ohio power bar in stainless steel and use it for everything since it’s my only bar but want an alternative power bar. I was looking at the strengthco corps bar or texas power bar. Any suggestions for an all around daily driver power bar? (doesn’t have to be any of those 2) Thanks in advance 🙏
Might be easier to go back and forth via email (it's in the description) but it really depends what you want out of it. Of those two you listed, the StrengthCo is very similar the OPB, but SC might be slightly more aggressive feeling. I'm also currently giving one away on IG. The Texas bar is a classic, it has thicker collars so helps if you squat in a 49" rack as it pushes the weight out a bit more, it's also 28.5mm, which unfortunately combined with those thick collars can tend heavy weights on squats to feel like the bar flexes more.
My budget is 5K-8k. Can you recommend a rack, functional trainer, bench, and Olympic bar? Here’s what I have in mind but any advice would be greatly appreciated! Functional trainer: Prime fitness prodigy single stack or Inspire Fitness FTX Rack: Rogue RM 6 monster rack Bench: Rep AB 5100 bench Bar: Rogue Ohio bar Plates: ? I already have a Peloton. I’m 42 and just looking to get back in shape! Thanks again for any tips or suggestions!
A lot of that stuff is going to depend on your own preferences but I will say the items you picked out are all solid choices. I haven't used any of the functional trainers but I know a lot of home gymers love the Inspire FTX that they bought from Costco.
Spoiler alert… $1000 was for stall mats 😂
I believe it! It was around $450 for stall mats for my gym.
Not to mention the cost of the house was so you could have a better basement gym

@@BasementBrandon thanks for the info (here and in response to my Instagram DM 👊)
Awesome Brandon ! I’m really surprise about the no belt squat.. seems to be a mandatory staple piece in most home gyms.
TBH every one I've used has been ok, but nothing that would compel me to want one
Brandon have you tried Sorinex's J squat belt squat?
Gym looks amazing bro. glad to hear the boys are getting along too. :)
Thanks George!
Gym goals! You’re just missing a white\black MBPC modular pr platform
Trust me I've considered it :)
when you first went with the black and white stormtrooper look I wasn't a fan, it felt like old school hammer strength equipment from the 80's. But since you have customized the whole gym I think it works really well. I still think investing some time and ideas into the walls of your gym would really complete the look although this basement is much nicer looking than your old one.
Aw man, my last basement was also great :(
@@BasementBrandon and the blue rack was lovely. But I’m loving the stormtrooper theme.
If you do the walls it could make a good video. A neon logo or a bit lit logo might really pop and also brand your videos a bit
Awesome spot Brandon! My gym wants to be like your gym when it grows up 😂
Haha thanks my dude!
I watched the video about you selling the rogue echo bike. I still think that was one of the best investments for my warmup and health. LISS warmups just take too long lol. Great video! Hopefully, the misses watches it and doesn’t sell everything for dirt cheap if anything happens 😂
can do hiit, tabata, climb, etc on the peloton :)
@@BasementBrandon now that's one thing us garage gym owners have on the basement dwellers lol
Wooden deadlift platform or some really cool lighting roll around unbreakae mirror
I used to have a wooden platform, I prefer the tiles!
oak club can also do a custom horizontal bar storage rack
Nice!!
You’ve got room for a nice white and black leg press in the back corner by the hamstring curl. Just justify it by saying it’ll add to your DL once you can start training on one.
Lol I never really found I used the leg press much even when I belonged to a gym.
TBH I don't see myself using that much, I tend to prefer barbell work.
It could use a receptionist desk (but seriouly, that is sweet!).
What do you think my wife does!
Sorry if I missed it but do you have lower body machines to do leg curls and extensions? Maybe you have a belt squat machine that I missed? That's an insane gym. You can open it for business and charge people to come train haha!
I don't find I need a belt squat, I do however have a plate loaded leg curl/ext.
Will have to give it a look!
Topnotch equipment Brandon!
Any plans to fix the ceiling and walls in the future?
I actually like them unfinished!
Have you seen the ironmaster ultimate row handle? So much versatility
I have, but have not used!
My garage gym is still a newborn baby compared to this, but i look to make a huge upgrade this year.
Def a process, if you go back and look at my first home gym I thought it was so expensive at 5k total lol.
That clock though.....creme de la creme.....nice set up!!!!
It's tough to get around carrying a 14.5" clock.
Maybe! I have done an A7 video several years ago!
Have you ever considered purchasing an air bike or skierg?
Lovely gym by the way! Thank you for the content.
Brandon had an older Schwinn Airdyne. He replaced it with a Rogue Echo Bike and he replaced that with the Peloton.
Appreciate the answer!
Oh man I really want to see your video on the kabuki transformer bar haha, want one myself want to see your opinion
Coming soon!
I would have guessed more like $25k. I’m guessing that there is a lot of money in bars, calibrated plates, and dumbbells
Oddly enough that's what I guessed last time. I prob paid that in shipping and tax :(
What you're missing? 😂 Sweet setup with nothing too frivolous (except for maybe that bar collection). 😂 Definitely setting the bar high for the rest of us and thanks for sharing with us my dude!
Now that I've documented em all I can sell the ones I've reviewed that I don't use :)
A Powerlifting Combo Rack would be nice in your gym, but also keep the power rack :)
I had one previously!
If I could spend half of that on my gym I'd be happy. I really want Matt wennings tricep machine. Have you seen it?
I don't believe I have
Hey mate, could you make a video about the sheathed Rogue chains? I have some DIY sets without a sheath but I can't stand the sound they make. Cheers
Will do
Awesome video. But please use a gimbal or image stabilization software because I literally started getting motion sickness for how jittery this video is.
Sorry! TBH that's more work than it's worth.
Badass. 😎 Where can I order a "Bar Don't Lie" T-shirt Brandon?
Thanks big man! I just did a small run of them but they sold out pretty quick. Will likely get some more.
Could you remove the Gunner sleeves and put them on another bar? Like Rogue Ohio Power bar?
Might have to try :)
Dude that’s a great idea! I love my gungnir all around we but would definitely prefer those sleeves on a true power bar.
I actually just got approached by a company asking if I'd like to try their flywheel stuff. I'll look into it.
Thanks for making me feel a lot better about my wasteful gym purchases :) I'm probably at $6k now when I'd be happier with a gym that costs half that. Just waiting for our house upgrade/move -- high basement ceilings is a hard requirement ;)
Personally I'm finding a lot of the "essentials" recommended by RUclipsrs like yourself (but not you personally) overrated.
I don't know the exact height off hand (they only list how many tiers on the PO). Mine is the 5 tier height and I'd say it's right around 6' tall.
Weird how different GHD’s can feel. My old gym had a rouge GHD I used all the time and felt great. My new gym has a titan recerse hyper GHD hybrid and it feels terrible so I never use it.
ah sorry to hear :(
Love the videos man!
@@BasementBrandon thanks man, appreciate the reply. Happy lifting!
Or go outside with a Sorinex stainless steel rack.
I aspire for this set up.
Thanks man, I really enjoy it.
I will not be surprised if Brandon eventually parlays all this equipment into a gym business. There's enough gear to do it.
Man you have some dope stuff. Would love to see a real walk through.
Functional trainer:
Prime fitness prodigy single stack or
Inspire Fitness FTX
Rack:
Rogue RM 6 monster rack
Bench:
Rep AB 5100 bench
Bar:
Rogue Ohio bar
Plates: ?
I already have a Peloton.
I’m 42 and just looking to get back in shape! Thanks again for any tips or suggestions!
A lot of that stuff is going to depend on your own preferences but I will say the items you picked out are all solid choices. I haven't used any of the functional trainers but I know a lot of home gymers love the Inspire FTX that they bought from Costco.
You know you've gone too far when you have "dedicated buffalo bar j-cups"
Lol yep!
My home gym just broke the $13k mark...this makes me feel better about my never-ending expansion lol
I thought mine was expensive when my first build was $5k... good luck!!
