    While the last three books have ‘blah’ moments, I still consider DotC as one of, if not the best arc. None of the characters are “holier than thou” good. Even Grey Wing is flawed. He comes off as somewhat possessive, indecisive, and wants to live a passive life, but he widely makes up those flaws due to being so family-oriented. And then there’s a character like Windrunner who’d turn her back on others for the sake of family and Tall Shadow who’s both willing and perfectly fine with killing to preserve herself and others, and Clear Sky that would turn against family out of fear of losing them. I personally love the running theme of family/found family in the arc and the moral grey areas of the characters.

    I really liked Dawn of the Clans. It’s my favourite arc and I think it deserves more attention! I usually like reading and watching about ancient lore in any kind of book or movie/show, it’s cool to see how things were first being made plot wise!

    Personally I like dotc, it's one of my favorite arcs. I just think it's that way in my mind because starclan actually was more mysterious and we got to see early clan life form. Gray Wing is also my favorite character, and I wish we'd see more from him. Can't wait to see River Ripple's story as it'd be neat to get away from the story line of starclan being bullied by one warrior/the clans coming up with a warrior code rewrite (which is way overdue.)

    I can see why some consider it optional but I think it’s good and important enough to be read

    • @Hawkkz

      I think it's good too! It just isn't all that relevant to the main plot though- especially since we've barely seen any of the DoTC characters in StarClan. If fading away wasn't basically retconned out of the books, I honestly don't know what they would've done with those characters anyway lol

    I read dawn of the clans over 1-2 years ago so i don’t remember much but i remember really liked the lake portion. I skipped over most of thr original portion where they were in the mountains honestly. I thought grawing was so sweet and it was entirely worth it to read the books for him. Starflower really threw me off but you know… i loved the bond between lighting tail and thunder though, they were the real ones.

    Wow, what luck! I’m almost done finishing my reread of this arc.
    Anyway, I love Dawn of the Clans, despite its many flaws. Gray Wing is my personal favorite of the POVs, but Clear Sky was also so interesting to read about, since we’ve never really had a villain’s pov in warriors. (As far as I’m aware.) It made his motives understandable and sympathetic.
    His redemption arc is… eh, for me personally, but I think he’s an overall pretty good character.
    My biggest problem with Dawn of the Clans is mostly about the last three books. We spent three books building Clear Sky up as the antagonist, but the last three books are about Slash and One Eye being our big bads? They just fall flat for me. Clear Sky was fascinating, since he had good motivation and a connection with our other povs. One Eye and Slash are like immovable objects; big brutes who do nothing but fight that the main characters have to defeat. They have very little connection to the plot and their only real connection to our povs is, like, Star Flower, I guess.
    Also, the amount of filler in this arc is so, so painful to get through. Especially in the last three books. Maybe this arc would’ve done better if they did something similar to Wings of Fire, and only had five books instead of six. Idk.
    But for all its flaws, it’s one of my favorite arcs. I love all the characters, even the background characters, since they have personality. (unlike the background characters in current arcs.)
    And the ending scene in Path of Stars always makes me cry. (Again, I love Grey Wing.) Overall, I would totally recommend this arc, since despite how slow it is, I think the characters and the first three books are great. (And there are probably some good moments in the last three books, I just don’t care to remember them, lol.)
    Anyway, rant over. Thanks for coming to my Tedtalk.

    I have read them twice and this arc is my favorite arc of all time. I love Clear sky and Star Flower unlike a lot of people. I would die for this series. I think they are well suited to each other, and finally there was no love at first sight, they +- gradually fall in love with each other. Funny how I'm watching this while continuing with The Sun Trail at the same time. I've only read a bit of that first book of the arc due to busy schedules but I must say, the story itself is so full of emotion. I like reading dawn of the clans because it's so easy for me to imagine how different clans could've been if prehistoric Starclan wasnt so heavy handed in wanting every cat to divide and spread, or if they didnt start making boarders and the groups just continued functioning as long distance family units.
    Also, off topic, does anyone else think about how badgers literally joined forces in the New prophecy and worked together only once then neve again, and how cool it could've been if we had a separate species with their own system n whatnot as a rival to the clans? I think about it a lot, I mean I know why they wouldn't want to add more non cat perspectives in a book about the cat cult but y'know, it'd be pretty cool to see badger society.

    • @Hawkkz
      @Hawkkz  2 года назад +1

      I definitely agree. It was so weird for them to all be so friendly with each other by the end of the arc considering how derisive their division in the main books. I hope there'll be some more clarification on that in the future.
      Also I hate to break it to you, but the reason why Midnight could speak to cats and other animals was because she was a ghost lol. I guess they just couldn't think of anything else to make that possible.

      @@thepandabookkeeper3180 OHH yeah I remember that lol sorry. It didn't click with me there.
      Erin Hunter has a pretty bad reputation when it comes to their different depictions of animal societies in their other books unfortunately (even if Warriors itself is far from perfect), so I'm not sure how they'd be able to handle that tbh lol. I think that's why they keep other groups of animals in Warriors (like the rat king in Firestar's Quest, the dog pack, and the badgers) as their own little separate and contained events. Definitely a cool idea though!

    As someone who recently, as of last year, just got caught up with everything Warriors, I'd say yes, DOTC is definitely worth it, from my perspective. Something that I've been somewhat curious about is, if DOTC could essentially get a second series, and what I mean by that is, what if the clans actually got completely wiped out, with most of the current characters dying off, and through a series of events, the clans have to be rebuilt from scratch by cats that really have no clue to as of what their doing. I guess in a way it be like a Warriors reboot, but I love how DOTC took shape, and think it could be an interesting idea for the series moving forward.

    • @Hawkkz
      @Hawkkz  2 года назад +2

      If they ever plan to keep this series going for as long as I think they will, I hope that there will be a reboot of some kind as well. I just don't see how they could keep being published for that long without a noticeable change in their direction. 'Cause they can't just keep writing them forever, you know? I feel like they're starting to *lean* in that direction with A Starless Clan, but only time will tell if anything significant will actually arise from it.

    • @TheAshfurApologist
      @TheAshfurApologist 2 года назад

      @@Hawkkz I honestly feel like... eventually that will happen. Like after the publishers, Warriors team, and The Erin's feel as if there is truly no more they can muster from the current series, there will be a complete reboot. Something that I did find kinda encouraging was, on the Warriors website there was a big community poll where most of the questions were things that we the fans would be interested in seeing in the series in the future, as well as it stating that the Warriors Team themselves had some new ideas that could be implemented to the franchise. I mean do they honestly care what we think, probably not lol, but I still like the idea of them asking us what we'd be interested in seeing, kinda exciting to think about at least.

    I know it has its flaws, but I love Dawn of the Clans so much. It's honestly probably my favourite series (but maybe I'm just being biased because I just reread it). The characters are all so lovable, especially Gray Wing. It's so great seeing adoption actually reconized as valid in this series. Obviously, this had its flaws, such as Gray Wing looking at one of Turtle Tail's kits and being like, "wow, this kid that I raised from birth as my own is ALMOST my son/daughter :D" no, he apsolutely is their father in every way. Screw that weird thing they did with Tom and trying to redeem him, ugh no. And Clear Sky... he was a REALLY good villian. Not sure I can get behind his redemption. It certainly wasn't the best written redemption I've seen. And then Lightning Tail! Who doesn't love Lightning Tail??
