On 02/14/2022,
Officers responded to a home for an ongoing issue between a husband and wife. The caller, Ada, stated that her husband had been drinking a lot and threw a knife at her and was spilling alcohol all over someone else's car. Upon arrival, I met with Mr. Bryson, who was extremely intoxicated and was yelling at his wife from the driveway. I attempted to calm Bryson down several times, asking him to tell me his name and explain to me what was going on. Mr. Bryson began getting irate with me, taking aggressive steps towards me after being asked to stop, putting his fingers in my face multiple times, and making comments about me not being strong enough to handle him on my own. Mr Bryson went on to state that "he would have it easy, and that I had not been on the force long enough for him". I continued to try and calm Mr. Bryson down when he started taking aggressive steps towards me with his hands lifted above his waist in a balled-up fashion.
I pulled my taser out and held Mr. Bryson at taser point for roughly fifteen seconds until other officers arrived on the scene and we detained him. While other officers were attempting to put Mr. Bryson in the back of their patrol car he became more combative and more irate. I walked over to speak to Ada about what events took place in their yard and she stated that her husband had been drinking alcoholic beverages since roughly 10:30 a.m. and that he had become angrier as the day went on. Ada went on to state that she was asking her husband to give her the two knives that he had on him before walking to the gas station around the corner but he did not want to.
Eventually, Mr. Bryson took the butcher knife that he was carrying and threw it in her direction in the driveway. Ada stated that she did not believe he was attempting to hit her with the knife, but she was in immediate fear for her safety when he did that, which is why she called 911. At this time, Ada identified her husband as Vernon and provided me with his old driver's license, as well as her current driver's license. Dispatch notified me that Vernon had bond conditions stating that he was not allowed to drink alcoho lic beverages or be in possession of a weapon, which he violated both of during the events on today's date. Ada told me that she saw her husband aggressively walking towards me in the front yard and that is what he has done to her in the past.
At this time, Vernon already detained, I placed him under arrest for simple assault family violence, as well as violating his condition of bond. Vernon was kicking the windows of another officer's patrol car very aggressively from the back seat, rattling the entire car, so I and other officers had to utilize the rip hobble to ensure he did not hurt himself or kick out the back windows of the vehicle while he was being transported to the Clarke County Jail. While en route to the jail, the rip hobble came loose due to Vernon kicking his feet so aggressively, that the transporting officers had to pull over to fasten it back. While the officers were doing this, Vernon spit on Officer Sartain's face, and his spit got into her mouth. They fastened the rip hobble and continued on to the jail. The jail was notified that Vernon was very aggressive and requested that deputies come outside when they arrived to assist them with getting Vernon into the jail.
When the transporting officers arrived at the jail and they were getting Vernon out of the backseat of their car, he spits onto Officer Theilman's face and his spit got into her eyes. The deputies assisted the transporting officers with getting Vernon into the jail to begin in- processing. Both of the transporting officers had to go to the piedmont urgent care and get checked out due to Vernon's spit entering one officer's mouth and the other officers' eyes.
The suspect was eventually transferred over into the Clarke County Jail

This is a case of Dr.jekyl and Mr. hyde. It took me a second by i happen to know of who this guy is... He's really a nice guy if you could meet him SOBER. His name is Mr. Vernon Bryson. He and l (and about 3 others) were responsible for all the laundry in the Alanta Salvation army ARC. If you were to personally meet him you would be shocked by the contrast. He's been sober for awhile, I'm glad he got some help. I would of never guessed he was like that.😮

should’ve probably had some more male officers arrive on scene, instead of the two tiny female officers. he wasn’t intimidated by them in the slightest, and it subsequently kept him from understanding the gravity of the situation. I’m shocked he was actually charged & forced to serve two years in prison, as you usually see them bond out mere hours later, and end up only getting an extended probationary period.
