The oldest football code in the world. In the winter of 1858 students from three Melbourne schools played against each other in several football games. These matches are believed to be the first organised games of Australian Rules football. In 1859 a set of rules was created and regular games began around Melbourne.
You have just found the greatest game in the world and it's over 165 years old there is over a hundred videos to watch on RUclips about AFL
'It looks like Baseball right?' ................................No wrong, missed by about a million miles.
AFLW = the women’s league.
However, it’s much newer than the men’s competition.
Aussie here. Best sport on the planet, bar none, and it's all OURS! Make sure you watch the greatest marks of all time and the greatest goals of all time to truly see the spectacular skill on display.
So many druggos and corruption in it, just ask BT! So you’re wrong, was better in 80s, 90s...🤦♂️👎😂
Hello my dear.
Lots of sports in one, but we came first. Aussie rules was codified in 1859 before, soccer, rugby, NFL, basketball
Quarters are 20 minutes but because of stoppages most quarters run about 30 minutes. There is a short break between the first and second quarter, and then like a 20 minute break at half time, and a short break between the third and fourth quarter. So except for breaks, these guys are running around the field for two hours. Some of them run up to 15 km per game, whilst getting scragged, tackled, and bumped.
You can't throw the ball, so the handball adds an extra element of skill to the game. Throwing is too easy. The final score line of 20-10-130 means 20 goals X six points each equals 120 points, +10 behinds, (pts) equals 130 points.
You don't have to bounce the ball every 15 metres, you have to bounce it BEFORE running 15 m. Most players Bounce after a few steps to avoid running more than 15 m which would see a free kick given to the other team.
When a player takes a mark, (catch) they have two choices. They can stop on the spot and take a free kick where no one is allowed to interfere with them. Alternatively they can keep running on after marking the ball. Either way the umpire always blows the whistle when a mark is taken.
You would be surprised how few the injuries are that's because
these guys are superfit athletes whose bodies are tough and conditioned to withstand the hard hits for 30 minute quarters, a total of two hours playing time.
The latest video from the AFL is, "A beginners guide to Australian rules football." This talks about the AFLW, women's league as
Penalties/rules are too many to talk about here. You can search online for books/videos on the rules of AFL.
What we love is that there is no segregation of supporters, and that 100,000 people at a grand final is a "madly electric atmosphere" having families with kids screaming their heads off, (mainly at the umpire) but it's all one big happy family. Except for the odd idiot, there is not the bad behaviour seen in some overseas sports.
AFL gets higher weekly attendances than any sport in the world per capita, but also ranked fourth highest attendances in the world, regardless of population. (Roughly equal with the English Premier soccer league) Another video that will freak you out is the AFL high marks, (catches)
I hope you follow the red and white Sydney Swans, they fight out games to the end, and never give up. Nearly always make the finals. Very much a community orientated club doing a lot of charity work for kids in hospitals
The Swan's home ground is the SCG, Sydney Cricket ground, thea Swans are currently on the top of the AFL ladder and we have played already nine rounds, so we're nearly towards the middle of the season. This Friday 17th of May is a big game against Carlton.
Welcome to the greatest game on the planet my dear. Cheers.

@@RickyisSwanI loved your comment. So well written and well informed. Except the bit about the Swans.

@@jessovenden Ahh well I always speak the truth 😎🦢🦢🦢👀
Families attend this sport.
It's not like European football, which we call soccer because we have 3 national professional football codes.
Its only soccer that have gangs fighting and violence before, during and after the match.
There is a popular national professional women's competition as well.
Your confusion is typical of people introduced to something new.
The circle screen appears aesthetically pleasing but cuts off a large percentage of viewing content.
Nailed it 👍..even the circle comment 😶🌫️
We have a Women’s AFL league as well. All the teams in the AFL have a women’s team. There is an updated /what is AFL video which shows the women playing too
Look up "a beginners guide to Australian football Afl Explained " It is a newer version of the one you just watched and includes information on the womens game AFLW .
Appreciate you taking a look at Aussie Rules.
1. There is certainly a woman’s version - granted more recent .
2. This is the oldest formalised football code in the world. Also older than most other sports. It makes me laugh when people say the centre bounce is like a basketball jump ball. The jump ball is like a centre bounce. Basketball wasn’t formalised until the very late 1800’s at best
3. What on earth are you talking about re baseball? That’s the strangest analogy I’ve ever come across 🤣
There is a professional women's league and they can play as hard and as professional as the men.
Yes. there is a female professional league. It is growing in popularity every year.
Yeah, Mate. There is Womans Footy. Cheers.
Wow, my first Spanish reacts on my list... I'm excited to see what else comes from you in the future.
Greetings from a South Frankfurter / South Santiago Compostelano

The girls definitely have a league
Not a patch on the NRLW...
Welcome to the fabulous game of AFL. Codified in 1859. Next video to watch is an updated version called 'A beginner's guide to Australian Football' and after that we might get into some bumps, tackles, goals and marks (catch)
Check out AFL biggest hits, that won't make you anxious 😬
Ooh you!
You're terrible Muriel
Yeah it’ll be like a stroll in the park very calming 😊
There is an AFLW - women's league.
Then react to cricket
Second most popular sport in Australia and globally
Most popular summer sport in Australia
No, sorry, nothing like baseball and to be an easy game? No again. It’s one of the most difficult sports ever. Players can run up to 18 km in one match as the “ pitch “ is bigger than any other sport. Yes, there is a women’s competition between, I think, 8 teams.
I understand your uncomfortable feeling towards the game as it is a contest sport & can be rather rough.
Anyway, thanks for the reaction, just waiting on that Amira performance, “ Down from His Glory “ where some of it is in Spanish.
Cheers Graeme
Yes, the sport is also played by women. The peak competition is ALFW. Their season will start in August.
O meu jogo de futebol favorito é Calcio Storico Fiorentino. Devias dar uma olhada.

*Please react - "types of people at movie by jordindian"*
well with Women playing they started up a round 2017 I think .
Women were playing tough competitive footy in the 1960's.......was the WAFL that started in 2017, as part of the AFL's goal to control every footy competition in Australia.
Is a shame they have already destroyed the game via their socialist rules.
Please don't put up the video in a circle. The video should be shown as in a whole rectangle. The viewers need to see the whole video not in a circle.
That's to avoid the RUclips's annoying copyright complaints.
@@1legend517 nothing to do with it. Other RUclipsrs show this in full view and it's fine.
How? That's the first time I've heard of this.
I know that the picture can be reversed.
Gotta do NRL video
Women play too!
Have you seen the movie Tarzan The Fearless?
Simple to play? Hah! It requires more skills, speed, strength, endurance, agility and courage than any other sport. Two hours of trying to score while stopping your opponents from scoring. Exciting. Exhilarating. You just run out of superlatives when describing it.
If you comment while the video is playing you will miss stuff....
Aerial ping pong
There is also a WOMAN'S league, and they play just as hard as the men do!
Ther is a woman’s league AWFL
I don't think the og video actually answers the question. The clips are all mashed up in no particular order, flick by too fast, and don't really explain basic stuff like what free kicks are. I've seen several reactions to this so far, and none of the reactors have a clue at the end apart from it's rough and the high marks are spectacular, but are they allowed? Unfortunately, I can't point you to a better one, so I'll shut up now.
Yes there is a female league
Best forgotten..
Similar to baseball ? I give up watching these bye
The only game that’s close is Gaelic football.
Not similar to baseball
