Hyundai Tucson Sport (2020) Review - It Just Loves Drifting!

- The Hyundai Tucson its been with us for years and proven its worth as a solid, family SUV which offers a lot in the way of features, warranty and style, but all at an affordable price point. But what happens if you want all of that but with a bit of extra hot styling and done in a way which makes it a bit of a hoot? Welcome the Tucson Sport.
Why’s it different to any other Tucson?
In essence its not all that very different, until we discuss the trim bits and driving characteristics! For starters, Hyundai South Africa has taken a top-spec Tucson in its Elite trim, which encompasses the likes of keyless-go-and-entry, a full-length panoramic roof, touchscreen-based media system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, electric front seats and climate-controlled air-conditioning but to mention a few of its features. Safety of-course as with the standard Tucson line-up is of top priority with ABS, EBD, ISOFIX mounting points and the list goes on…
It's available as either a 1.6-litre turbopetrol motor mated with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic (DCT) or a 2.0-litre turbodiesel derivative, with an 8-speed automatic transmission. While these drive trains and motors remain fairly typical in the usual Tucson, the way in which they are mapped, makes driving the Tucson Sport a bit of a hoot, thanks to low-end torque and its ease of sliding around from take-off.
With sharper throttle response, both the petrol-driven and diesel driven variants develop 150 kW, but the latter develops 460 Nm of peak torque, compared with the petrol’s 300 Nm.
The Style
With the bonkers driving characteristics discussed, let's discuss the styling. Hyundai South Africa was quick to produce a Tucson with this flamboyant styling, because, let’s face it, it does look very cool. With a pronounced front-end, flared bumper, 19-inch blackened alloy wheels and perhaps most important of all quad tail-pipers with a rear racing-style diffuser, it’s hard not to spot!
Although much of the Tucson is fairly conventional, it is this styling that will get it noticed very quickly and let everyone know that you are driving a limited-edition model from the Korean automotive brand.

The Hyundai Tucson Sport comes with a 7-year/200 000 km warranty, 7-year/150 000 km roadside assistance and a 5-year/90 000 km service plan.

The Tucson Sport offers-up a fun-loving side to what is a dependable, practical and very popular family SUV. Its limited-edition styling, engine tuning and nature make it something which just adds those extra smiles, lets you forget the sometimes mundane side to practical family motoring.
Even with its The R60k increase in price (compared with Elite-spec derivatives) regular Tucson’s, you are certainly getting a lot in terms of extra bragging rights and will garner the attention of many other Tucson owners wanting to know where you got all those accessories from.

Why is he referring to this as Tucson sport instead of Tucson N,
exactly, its not like they call i30 Sport, its i30N so this should be Tucson N
I purchased a 2021 Tucson , one of the safety features i like are the anti collision sensor as well of the 7 air bag on the interior, unfortunately i was in a accident which results in a total loss, believe it or not non of the airbags was deployed and the anti collision sensor in a medium sensitivity was not working as well.
I would not recommend the brand at all.
After inspection by Hyundai ingeniers they said that everything works normal lol even with the physical and obvious results.
Please think twice before to decide to buy those brand.
Also check the recalls that they have are a lot , and some of them related with safety features.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

If you want more of a family car get the Santa Fe or Palisade... Tucson is definitely more playful! I named mine Alex 😂 She's cool and hella fun but a rowdy tomboy at times 🤣😂🤣
