Not going to lie, I thought Chicago would surprise many people and be in the top 3 of the central. It's early, but they have to shake things up and start winning.
It's early yes but those next five games are not easy. Toronto well yes struggling right now I do think they will get on track. Two games against Carolina and a game against St Louis plus a game against Ottawa which won't be easy either. For Colliton to keep his job they need to win at least 3 of the next five games. If they win only 1 of the next 5 there will be a coaching change.
I guess you didn't see his Gold medal game in 2004. I guess you missed his 2012 playoffs, the game 7 Vegas vs Sharks ? Fleury has been a part of a few train wrecks. Look at his first couple of years in the NHL. I've been watching him since his Jr days. He has had his share of mishaps.
I just subbed after watching a couple of your videos and i love how organized and put together your content is. One complaint. I thing stupidity needs to be a five minute major. They need to stay in the box the entire time.
16:30 ... The same thing happened to the Canucks for several years. The owner thought they were closer than they actually were and demanded big signings as a result.
It's interesting that you noticed other teams going after Jones. His Achilles Heel has always been his awful gap control, he is totally incapable of denying zone entries. He's pretty good at keeping shots to the outside, but he's very passive and always just reacting to what the other team does rather than taking initiative. Jones spends a lot of time in the DZone as a result of this and I think other teams know this. Jones needs a partner that can cover for this weakness, Werenski was very good at getting the puck out of the DZone. I don't know if Chicago has a player like that though.
Flower has always struggled with consistency but in front of a shit defense, his flaws are going to be glaring. It really makes me sad to see him stuck in Chicago with that awful defense in front of him.
As a Hawks fan, I have noticed a few things over the last few games. Since the forwards are not scoring, the Defensemen are going up ice trying to help out and they get caught up ice constantly which, in turns, creates odd-man rushes the other way. Fleury used to play with Crosby/Malkin/Letang and friends. In his Pittsburgh's days, Fleury never got peppered like he is right now. Furthermore, the Golden Knights have a disciplined and structured defensive scheme that he Hawks just don't have right now. The combination of these two things creates a terrible situation for Fleury. I have no idea how they are going to fix this quickly.
I’m not a Hawks fan, but I know a few of them. One of them seems pretty keen on trading Kane for some top defensive talent. Any other Chicago fans feel the same way?
Honestly I don't think Kubalik gets resigned this offseason, looking at cap friendly it just doesn't look like it'll happen. I pray he stays but with Connolly and Johnson's contracts I don't see how he can
I agree with your statement. The players are a direct reflection of their coach. That goes in any sport. If you cant get your team to play at a 100 percent every game, maybe you should re think your approach or game plan. Just my opinion. LGI 🔷🔶🔷🔶. Love your content.
Well they still should be playing better than they are. I mean not having Stone and Pacioretty suck, but Tuch is not a world beater. Where has Karlsson been or Marchessault, or Theodore? Lehner has just been okay and not stealing games right now. Lehner has been putting up the worst stats since Ottawa traded him to Buffalo... And worst since leaving Buffalo. And don't get me started about how much a non factor Pietrangelo has been... Vegas cannot blame all these losses on injury. Pittsburgh is winning games without Crosby or Malkin... Vegas needs to dig deep and claw out of the hole their digging.
This is an analysis based on stats not watching the games. The Hawks are a one and done offense, usually the shots are from the perimeter so the goalies are not spectacular, simple NHL caliber. Now the shots against are usually tap ins on 2nd 3rd and 4th attempts around the crease. The Hawks stupid man to man defense often takes the defenders out to the blue line and forwards are not covering down low. Opposing teams make a cross ice pass, defenders lose their man and somebody is wide open within five feet of the goal.
Uk what's even more upsetting. Look at Fleurys paddings. They look like the same ones he wore playing Vegas, just added stickers. That's just sad that Chicago didn't give him new Pads
@@derkaiserzen As a Sox fan, getting to the ALDS was good enough for me. It's the farthest our young core has gotten so far. They should be good for a long time so I'm not worried.
I think the Jones signing could be a mistake. It's too early to tell how the season will end for Chi but down the stretch these first few games can be the difference between being close to play-offs or trying to not finish last in the division.
@@wandregisel6385 It's a team sport. One player's impact doesn't have as much of a swing factor as people claim, not even a 1D. Maybe a goalie does but that's about it. Chicago is losing right now because of a long list of reasons. One player's 9.5 cap hit doesn't sink a team. This will continue to hold true next season. They simply aren't getting enough from too many players, and had holes in their lineup even before Jones' arrival.
@@JohnSmith-jb2jf yes yes, it's hardly the mark of an intellectual to state that it's a team game, I'm aware. But it is still possible for one player to make a huge impact. Ever heard of the straw that broke the camel's back?
I'd say the only glimmer of hope for Chicago is that a couple of years ago Dallas started the season 1-9-1 and still made it to the playoffs. Maybe they pull it together after the first 10 games and average 6-3-1 all the rest 10 game series. Or not.
MAF won one of the most undeserved Vezinas ever. He was probably the 3rd best goalie in the league behind the league’s best team defense. Hellebuyck or Vasilevskiy easily were better. A modern Chris Osgood, if you will.
Fleury isn’t really in the same position as Osgood. Those Red Wings teams needed Osgood at times, I’m not so sure Fleury was super necessary to Vegas last year.
Why the heck did the Hawks get Jones? They ought to have been rebuilding and Boqvist, Bean and first-round picks would have helped them tremendously. It's a tire fire right now.
Don't know if you've noticed but the Blackhawks have the worst GM in all of pro sports. A pure nepotism hire of a weasel who was handed a dynasty built by Dale Tallon and others, then gradually once the pieces started aging/costing too much, ran it into the ground in spectacular fashion. A merely competent GM in his place would have the Hawks still an annual contender.
Mercy is for the weak, no-mercy Daniel son, Penguins fan who lived in Chicago for 10+ years, such a great city, top notch organization, usually (same thing was once thought of Penn State football, ouch!) if fleury gets shelled 2 or 3 more times, i truly believe hes gonna retire. ive always been one of the "dont be a bandwagon fairweather fan" and i stuck with the hawks through many years of atrocious hockey- the abc line era, the adrian aucoin being our best player era, the lorne molliken and alpo suhonen years, even the beginning of last year, where they gave up 5 goals a game their first 5 games, but this years team is unwatchable. while they were giving up those 5 goals a game, there was at least some fight. theres just no fight in this years team (with the exception of the last 5 minutes of regulation of the new jersey game) i understand its hard to remain motivated when you give up a goal in the first 15 seconds of seemingly every game, but how hard is it to not get scored on in the first 15 seconds? that shows the fights not even there before the game even starts. absolutely brutal. it honestly looks like the hawks wont even win a game this season
Bowman has to go. Start at the top, and it'll be interesting to see the fallout from the investigation, I believe that is lingering above everyone's head at this moment
I feel so bad for MA Fleury! A guy with his CV, a future hall of famer and one of the absolute best guys in the business deserves so much better than to be just thrown away by Vegas and then have to endure this train wreck.
For completely selfish reasons I just hope Fleury sticks around until March so I can see him back in Vegas one more time. Of all the games I'm going to that's the one I'm most excited about. Completely understand if he doesn't though.
The Central is loaded on the whole. Blues are great. Jets, Avs, Stars, Preds, and Wild are all solid teams. All six of those teams can find themselves on a deep playoff run.
If I was MAF, I would either A) ask to be traded to a Stanley Cup contender, B) Retire. He owes Chicago NOTHING! He can either go somewhere and be a back up and maybe win another Stanley Cup or retire. He shouldn’t have to go through a season like this.
He can ask all he wants but considering he was a pure cap dump? His vaule was literally nothing in return in the offseason, do you really think there's a roster spot out there for him on any other team?
I know he'll be the last person looked at by management, but Bowman has to go. In my eyes that's the only way this team turns around. Not necessarily this season. But in the long term. It's been long overdue for him.
I hope the Hawks can turn it around, this shit is just rough to watch I just hate being a Chicago sports fan rn. The Bears and Hawks are an utter mess hindered by lousy coaching, Cubs...yeah not even bothering, Sox are underachieving...only hope is the Bulls. Time for Colliton to go, but the annoying this is i've read that his job is safe for now. But i hope that changes soon, maybe he could stop by Hallas Hall and pick up Nagy on his way out of Chicago
wouldnt suprise me if they traded Fleury (and ate some salary) to a team that needs a goalie for a cup run. At his age he isnt in their longterm plans, and would be a welcome addition to a cup contender needing a goalie...like Colorado...Toronto and a few others.
Not going to happen. Accept reality. I'm a realist, this is real. Think about it. Vegas has been shopping Fleury since that game 7 vs the Sharks. Chicago was the only taker in those 2 seasons and he was practically free. They can only eat 50% which still leaves $3.5mill on the table. No cup contender can take that on. He isn't going anywhere except home to his family which isn't a bad idea considering the way this season is going.
This season for the Hawks seems even more bleak than when the team was starting to show signs of a decline in previous years. Every time there is a spark of hope in a game they somehow smother it. While I love my Hawks, I'm very glad I also started following the Panthers back when Jagr was still around. It's been great watching the team develop over the years and become a contender. Watching the Cats reminds me why I love hockey. Watching the Hawks feels like a job most nights, but I'll stick with them and hope for better days ahead.
I can’t wait for the Part 2 of this lol. I’m a Hawks fan and someone if not multiple need to be fired. Until then…..Toews said it’s a locker room problem and then said it’s an everyone problem. We also don’t shoot the puck! We try to make bad passes more then we shoot the puck. It’s been a problem for a while. The game has changed since we got cups. We used to be able to slow the game down and win but it’s not happening anymore. The game is too fast paced now. We haven’t altered our play. Everyone knows what we are doing before we even do it. CHANGE is the key word for The Hawks. Our defense used to be Great! We used to win games and cups with our defense! It’s gone now. We won a cup with Nemi in net! Lol. Our defense was amazing but not so much anymore. Jones isn’t a defensive defenseman. He’s a offensive defenseman… which has never worked out for The Hawks. He gets played every time
Fleury is playing like his heart isn't in it. Plays slow, makes mistakes, allows goals, then throws fits. Retiring after getting his 500 wins might not be a bad idea. The hawks will be better off with the more poised player in the net, Lankinen.
Fuck off, the defense is garbage. Any goalie is going to get shot full of holes in front of that defense. Why did they even bring in Fleury if they weren't going to support him at all? It makes me sick with both Vegas and Chicago.
It's not exactly a hard question to answer when it comes to how has the worst defence in the NHL Absolutely true what Shannon said about the Defence, part of the reason why Quick in his prime was so good playing as far out as he did was that at least one of his D-Men was always behind him guarding the net because they knew he came out and challenged the shooter and were there if the puck got behind him, same with a lot of teams and rebounds.
As a hawks fan I hope Jones gets better defensively he’s done good offensively. Also fire the entire coaching staff including the gm staff. It may be the chemistry too
It’s just strange. They didn’t look like this in the preseason. Yes, it was the preseason, but at least they scored goals and had the lead at times. You’d think there’s too much talent for at least a couple of lines to be playing good hockey. I’ve seen the Hawks firing a lot of shots into the goalies pads, making every goalie look like a Vezina candidate
They are giving up less shots, but the shots they do give up are really high quality. The defensemen aren't clearing the slot. Colliton's defense system has been horrible since day 1. The argument was he doesn't have the right players. He doesn't have his players. Bowman replaced the entire defense for him. It has gotten worse. Keith isn't there to say "Eff your system, I'm playing the way I know how". Colliton has to go. Bring in a coach known for playing a tight defense.
Why bring up advanced stats only to immediately dismiss them and prove you have no idea what they mean. The whole point of expected goals is that they are MORE predictive of future results than actual goals, not less.
With the recent investigation into the 2010 scandal the whole organization is in freaking turmoil right now. We aren't seeing everything that is going on, but behind closed doors things are going down for the Hawks.

Oh God, wouldn't that be marvelous
As a Leafs fan, please beat us. We don’t need this team to luck out a win based on raw skill or the other teams mistakes.
😳
Ottawa was originally interested in Ryan Strome, but maybe they can make a trade for Dylan Strome using Erik Brannstrom as the main piece going back
Not going to lie, I thought Chicago would surprise many people and be in the top 3 of the central.
@@darthvader3742 I agree, that schedule is not easy.
yeah i picked them to go to the cup final vs the islanders
They certainly are surprising people so far.
@@petrograd4068 And not in a good way
Saw some of last night's game and it was weird seeing Fleury in the middle of a train wreck.
Out of everyone, I feel bad for Fleury the most. He deserved so much better for the end of his career.
That thumbnail Shannon.... says it all.
I've thought about the exact same thing with Fleury just peacing. 8 wins to 500 seems like a HUGE mountain climb at this point.
Sounds like you’re describing Boqvists potential 😂
@@KobeLoverTatum Boqvist isn't paid $9.5 million for 8 years and Gavrikov is perfect as his partner.
He's not the only part of the trade either.
Chicago does not have a player of Werenski's talent level. On defense I mean.
That Seth jones trade is looking worse and worse right now. If I’m right that draft pick is only top 2 protected
Feel bad for Fleury. From winning the Vezina in Vegas to being booted out. Now this! Terrible. In an Olympic year none the less.
Flower has always struggled with consistency but in front of a shit defense, his flaws are going to be glaring. It really makes me sad to see him stuck in Chicago with that awful defense in front of him.
I appreciate the hockey analysis but I'm really here for the cat.
Also Jarmo pulled off the fleece of the century.
The 1934 conspiracy gives me hope. Thanks for that Shannon
Only Shannon could come up with something like that. lol
As someone who’s given up hopes on my beloved Hawks. Hockey gods are weird like this. I’m aboard the 1934 hype train
Same
1934.
Let's go.
Letting Puis Suter Go, even though there were Money Problems, Was Really Dumb
Oilers need a goalie! Flurey to Edmonton for Miko a second round pick and and Chicago retains some salary 👍
Fleury*
That jersey you got on is 🔥
They should definitely give Strome a go. They need to shake things up!
Completely agree. I can’t understand that there could be any logical reason why he wouldn’t start. Unbelievable!
I’m not a Hawks fan, but I know a few of them. One of them seems pretty keen on trading Kane for some top defensive talent. Any other Chicago fans feel the same way?
No, that’s a ridiculous argument
thanks for making this video, lotta speculation about the future in chitown. i hope they right the ship but its get close to hitting the panic button.
Honestly I don't think Kubalik gets resigned this offseason, looking at cap friendly it just doesn't look like it'll happen. I pray he stays but with Connolly and Johnson's contracts I don't see how he can
Great video! Thank you for putting this together!
I agree with your statement. The players are a direct reflection of their coach. That goes in any sport. If you cant get your team to play at a 100 percent every game, maybe you should re think your approach or game plan. Just my opinion. LGI 🔷🔶🔷🔶. Love your content.
now do the knights,,,, that would be a short video though just an injury list.
From Dynasty to Disaster. Calling the next UrinatingTree vid now
Digging the new board layout bravo.
Uk what's even more upsetting. Look at Fleurys paddings. They look like the same ones he wore playing Vegas, just added stickers. That's just sad that Chicago didn't give him new Pads
What :D He had golden gear in knights and now he has brown gear.
Congrats on 220k!
Seattle, 32nd team in the league retired #32 before 1st home game and scored first ever goal with 3.2 seconds remaining in 1st period. weird!
Where you there at 1934 finals?
Between this and the bears Chicago’s had a rough week.
Cubs imploded
White Sox choked in ALDS
Well, at least Bulls somewhat decent this year
@@derkaiserzen As a Sox fan, getting to the ALDS was good enough for me. It's the farthest our young core has gotten so far. They should be good for a long time so I'm not worried.
@@derkaiserzen bulls are 3-0
I think the Jones signing could be a mistake. It's too early to tell how the season will end for Chi but down the stretch these first few games can be the difference between being close to play-offs or trying to not finish last in the division.
That Seth Jones contract is going to be the downfall of this team.
He's making 5.4 mil this year.
@@JohnSmith-jb2jf He never said the downfall would be short term. short term, the downfall might be (partially) his defensive play
@@JohnSmith-jb2jf Those holes are a lot harder to fill when Jones is making $9.5 million.
A video from Shannon guarantees a win for Chicago!
I'd say the only glimmer of hope for Chicago is that a couple of years ago Dallas started the season 1-9-1 and still made it to the playoffs. Maybe they pull it together after the first 10 games and average 6-3-1 all the rest 10 game series. Or not.
A big fast hard hitting defenseman like Zadorov makes a lot of room for players on his team and has been missed by all the teams that traded him.
Those Red Wings teams needed Osgood at times, I’m not so sure Fleury was super necessary to Vegas last year.
meh, no point of being mad about that, because it ensures that MAF will get to HHOF
@@Furcapper which will be wholly undeserved as well
Fleury has always been playing behind good teams...that's why he "looked good". Now is just being exposed by playing in a bad team.
Hello, great cap👍 could you please share where you bought it please? I couldn’t find it anywhere. Thanks. Greetings from Slovakia🇸🇰
Chicago might be in for the rebuild for another 6-8 years
Optimistic with how soon it will end
Yea this and what the Bears did yesterday it’s rough for Chicago fans
Mercy is for the weak, no-mercy Daniel son, Penguins fan who lived in Chicago for 10+ years, such a great city, top notch organization, usually (same thing was once thought of Penn State football, ouch!) Could we just put Sid, Eddzo and Mario on a line and see how they do? The former/current Pens glory line. I'm just rambling, but so is the hockey guy. P.S. love you hockey guy!
if fleury gets shelled 2 or 3 more times, i truly believe hes gonna retire. ive always been one of the "dont be a bandwagon fairweather fan" and i stuck with the hawks through many years of atrocious hockey- the abc line era, the adrian aucoin being our best player era, the lorne molliken and alpo suhonen years, even the beginning of last year, where they gave up 5 goals a game their first 5 games, but this years team is unwatchable. while they were giving up those 5 goals a game, there was at least some fight. theres just no fight in this years team (with the exception of the last 5 minutes of regulation of the new jersey game) i understand its hard to remain motivated when you give up a goal in the first 15 seconds of seemingly every game, but how hard is it to not get scored on in the first 15 seconds? that shows the fights not even there before the game even starts. absolutely brutal. it honestly looks like the hawks wont even win a game this season
And they spent the farm...they DESTROYED their future rebuild...they are going to have to ride this out for 4 years...(I know this pain)
Bowman has to go. Start at the top, and it'll be interesting to see the fallout from the investigation, I believe that is lingering above everyone's head at this moment
I already know this video is gonna hurt. And to think during the off-season I was considering going to my first NHL game in Chicago this year.
Id still go. Live hockey beats tv version any day. Its an awesome experience.
Been waiting for this one. Thanks, amigo!
Poor Fleury :(
I feel so bad for MA Fleury! A guy with his CV, a future hall of famer and one of the absolute best guys in the business deserves so much better than to be just thrown away by Vegas and then have to endure this train wreck.
It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on Buffalo. Do you think they may have seemed worse last season from the division they were in?
For completely selfish reasons I just hope Fleury sticks around until March so I can see him back in Vegas one more time. Of all the games I'm going to that's the one I'm most excited about.
Completely understand if he doesn't though.
Seth Jones looked Awesome against the Leafs in playoffs.
poor MAF he deserves better
The Central is loaded on the whole. Blues are great. Jets, Avs, Stars, Preds, and Wild are all solid teams. All six of those teams can find themselves on a deep playoff run.
And whats worst is I have flurry on my fantasy team and it’s costing my team as well
Usually, bad teams have elements that work. Chicago right now has nothing, no one standing out for good reasons.
If I was MAF, I would either A) ask to be traded to a Stanley Cup contender, B) Retire. He owes Chicago NOTHING! He can either go somewhere and be a back up and maybe win another Stanley Cup or retire. He shouldn’t have to go through a season like this.
He hasn't exactly been good, either.
He's been pretty awful himself.
He can ask all he wants but considering he was a pure cap dump? His vaule was literally nothing in return in the offseason, do you really think there's a roster spot out there for him on any other team?
Fleury to Boston for Ullmark it would be fun to see him be with swayman imo but that would never happen lol
30 million tied to 3 players past their prime? Yea I can't see that working out.
I know he'll be the last person looked at by management, but Bowman has to go. In my eyes that's the only way this team turns around. Not necessarily this season. But in the long term. It's been long overdue for him.
I hope the Hawks can turn it around, this shit is just rough to watch
I just hate being a Chicago sports fan rn.
Pete DeBoer may be getting the AX soon.
wouldnt suprise me if they traded Fleury (and ate some salary) to a team that needs a goalie for a cup run.
He gets played every time
This team honestly deserves this for what they did to Kyle Beach.
As a blues fan this video makes me beyond happy
How many times have the Islanders been up 1-0 after 2 periods?
I am from one day in the future. You ain’t seen nothing yet Shannon.
On a positive note, you will soon have your choice of parking spaces at the United Center as the fans stop going to the games.
