He's always been a star player, he's just been shafted a lot. Winnipeg had a weird boys club thing going on and the pos Mark Shitfele wanted to run the team, while their GM made it a point to be as mediocre as they can be every step of the way. After the dumpster fire known as Winnipeg, he got a team that had no support for a guy who very clearly is a shooter. He's like Ovechkin. Get him the puck, and he'll score. Give him a player like Backstrom, and he'll score 40-50 every year. Hopefully he won't have anymore injury issues, and gl to him.

All Montreal needs is a number 1 center and a true starter, or at least a competent backup.
Suzuki is good, but he isnt big enough to be your number 1 center. He gets pushed off the puck too easily and he's terrible at faceoffs. When your team has to constantly throw out your number 3 center in offienzise and defensive zone draws, it isnt a good sign. Dvorak and Evans are the go to guys. Dvorak is a pulg. Evans is showing promise this year, but when he's your best center, there's a problem.
couple that with Monty being the only goalie to the point he plays in back to back games they have so little faith in Primeau, and the Canadiens wont be making any real progress.
the Habs not making an offer Boston couldnt refuse for Ulmark was a mistake. Then San Jose trades Blackwood for a bag of pucks, and nothing from Montreal either. Habs are drowning in defensive prospects. San Jose is in rebuild mode and Boston is a year or 2 away from the same. Habs have like 25 picks over the next 2 seasons or some ridiculous number like that.
Habs management is making good moves, but it isnt enough.

With Laine going down in the preseason, I knew it would be a tough first half. True, his goals are all on the pp. And ? His 5v5 play is improving each game, if you knew anything, and he was placed with 2 linemates who have struggled all season. But not anymore. Dach has 3 goals in his last 3 games, Newhook 1 g 2 a, and all were set up by Laine even if he's not credited with assists. But you should know this kind of stuff if you're gonna offer an opinion instead of showing your ignorance. There is to s of room for growth in Montreal and not a GM in the league wouldn't want their roster over the next decade. Future Norris winner, selke winner, 50 goal scorer and Vezina candidate.

I think more that the Canadians wanted to protect him and remove him from the game, he was focused on every presence in the first period

He quit on Columbus. Plain and simple. Gaudreau never quit. The fans were not expecting Laine to be a hero. He just quit and hid under the assistance program.
Good riddance. Marchenko is better anyways

Laine owes Kekäläinen a fine dining dinner for giving him a clearly over-paid contract.

It's not really over-paid contract for just a bit under point per game player.

What exactly is your agenda? You are commenting every Laine clip with your nonsense like it was something personal. You clearly don't have a clue, so why keep it up?

@@yorkaturr i just can't understand this fiction-feel-good based hype when one narrow-minded solo-artist is being touted as next Ovechkin because of one freeking aspect in his game.
There is not a single statitic, that is based on consistency, why Laine deserves to get paid as if he is producing point-per-game, not even mentioning his lack of willingness to make defensive efforts.
It is ironic how Barkov and Laine are training together on off-season, and come from same town of Tampere (also played in same team, Tappara), while being completely opposing player types.

Just have to add...this chump talked smack about Columbus and what happens. He puts up a goose egg on the stat line, leaves the game early and the player traded to get him scores against Montreal...
    What a loser.
