    Soiree dans grenade is quoted by De Falla in his Homenaje sur le tombe de Debussey for guitar. A wonderful piece.

    This piece and La cathedral engloutie were what got me interested in Debussy when I was young, transcendent music that heavily influenced me.

      Amazingly these two pieces are among the 14 that were recorded by Debussy himself on piano roll. The recordings are on RUclips, it's incredible hearing his own playing and interpretations :)

    Un grand Merci M Barenboïm ! Qu’aurait ressenti M Debussy à l’écoute de votre interprétation avec ce beau piano de ce 2ème mouvement des estampes ?
    J’écoute régulièrement la version du CD The Composer as Pianiste jouée par M Debussy en personne (recording for M.Welte & Soehne 01/11/1913).
    Je suis cependant encore plus touchée par votre version du motif hispanique, que j’ai d’ailleurs pu entendre aussi en salle de concert.
    A mon sens ce n’est pas forcément toujours le compositeur qui parvient à magnifier le mieux son œuvre. Debussy lors d’un interview en 1914 disait ceci : « Il est vrai que j’interprète convenablement quelques-uns des Préludes, les plus faciles. Mais les autres, où les notes se suivent à une extrême vitesse, me font frémir… ».
    Sometimes the pupil becomes the teacher...

    (Completely off-topic): really wild shoes @ 3:49! I've noticed that Maestro Barenboim has interesting taste in clothing (some of the details of his sport coats), which is another thing I love about him, besides his phenomenal musicianship, world citizenship, philosophy on education and human rights, etc.

Soy argentino y siempre me gustó el piano y cantar también... pero soy una persona dispersa y me cuesta crear un habito de estudio que me dé resultados, ¿que consejos me daría usted para poder revertir esta situación? gracias!! y ojalá esta pregunta salga en un "preguntas y respuestas" (ese es el objetivo)

    Honestly its not very spanish. 1% spanish 99% Debussy.

      i’d say more like 40/60. This piece has a Habanera style bass and when it moves to the right hand in the upper register of the piano there is some beautiful minor armonic scales and intervals that remembers me of Spain. Still, very debussy
