not sure I watched this video several times and for the most part used your method. Just to update it was unnecessary to take apart the front cv joint. I removed the collar from the engine crank slid it to the left and the shaft with hub to the right. I also removed one bolt that holds the bearing for the front differential driveshaft. This allows the entire driveshaft to slide right. I also cheated and used a 2 inch whole saw to cut a whole in the floor board to reach the fan hub bolt. Start to finish 1 hour including making a nice cover for my 2 inch whole
Probably the best video for changing HST fan and/or CV boots and any other work that has to be done. I have a 2011 BX24D that does not use the spacer at the crank end of the prop shaft. In that case you have to move the motor forward but other than that your video explains the process the best I have seen. Thanx for taking your time to make this exceptional video. Peace~Out
Thanks Rick, your video was great and was a big help for me when replacing my HST fan. In case anyone wants to know, the bolt that holds the fan on the splines is 12mm. By unhooking the foot pedal spring I was able to use a 12mm socket, a universal joint and a 14” extension and go up through the cross members to remove the fan bolt.
Oustanding Video, I have ( 2 ) BX25's that both need HST fans installed, havent done the repairs yet but i know youve saved me many hours already. Also i loved the beer can shim 👍
Unfortunately my BX25D did not have the two piece crank hub, so it has to come completely apart. I have a 60 series BX and built in 2010. Sometime after that the must of changed the crank hub design.
Yes I did it on the garage floor, I considered driving the tractor up on some blocks to get a bit more room but it turned out to be enough room to work. Good luck
@@rickrhem6910 Thank you and great detailed video. I'm sure I can do this. I need to replace boots and other parts in the joints. I have been replacing lots of things on my Kubota since it was a rental machine I bought at auction. i will protect the underside with a BXadvanced skid plate.
After watching a few of these videos I just took the fender off the tractor, it was really way easier than any of these "alternative" methods look. Use penetrating lubricant and a little heat for stuck on knobs etc, take the fender off and boom it's all right there in front of you and you can have a look around the area while you're in there. Also next to impossible to properly torque everything without the access. Nice creative approach though for sure. Just gotta always question weather you're reinventing the wheel.
The ring dampers are a small rubber/plastic ring like a beveled washer and with a bit of grease seated themselves in the machined ports they came from. The ball bearings, again with a bit of grease seated into these ports and the groove on the matching hub. I gather from talking to the Kubota parts person that they help absorb vibration and dampen any clattering noise that could come from the bearings just bouncing around in these ports. Don't know for sure but makes sense having replaced them and see how it all goes together. Hope that helps.
@@rickrhem6910 Rick thank you for the reply. I just took the drive shaft apart and noted 7 of 8 were broken. I will replace. Ive never seen something like this before in CVs. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and clarifying. It has been a tremendous help for me tackling my HST fan and drive shaft CVs.
Nice job, I havnt had to replace mine yet but with all the land clearing I do with my BX it’s only a matter of time with out body armor 😅
I don't even have a tractor and know of this issue... I like your approach to this and your video. Good job!!!!

I built a skid plate for my BX and never had an issue. Good video!
Great video ! I just had to do this on my 2014 BX 25 D and this video is very helpful thank you

Great video, going to be trying this this week. I was wondering if you had the slides available in a file to print.

Any armor plate available for drive over mowing deck Bx 2680? Am told there is not.
Rick did you do this repair with the tractor on the ground or was it elevated?

Any good videos for removing the fender?
@@danieltbassable not really necessary, just take off everything in the way and the few bolts actually holding it on.
what is the purpose of the ring dampers and what is their orientation inside the joint itself? do they have seats?
