I’ve been an Oasis fan since the beginning, so I’m used to hearing the same old stories repackaged and retold. But your insight and explanation on some of the eras most iconic moments are largely untold, which 25 years on, is something special. Many thanks, and keep them coming.
I can totally relate to your comment Tom. Hearing the same recycled stories, seeing the same remixed videos and I too have been there since the beginning right up to their penultimate gig at Bridlington Spa. The covers, in particular the Microdot one's, were always a big part of the Oasis 'movement' for me and these videos made by the man responsible for the beautiful artwork Mr Brian Cannon (and his crew @ Microdot) are fantastic and I always, without failure, learn something new (Education Please? Haha) and interesting. So yeah thanks for the videos BC and please keep them coming man, it's great when you think you know everything about a band only to learn something new, thanks for the continued suprises. ✌️ 🖤 🇬🇧 Xx
25 years ago?! I remember a 16 year old me,fresh out of school and queuing up outside Virgin Records to grab a copy. It was blasting out of the shop stereo and all the listening stations were full with kids passing around the headphones to each other. Happy memories!
As a designer, this is a top youtube channel for me. I wish more creatives/designers would do these types of breakdowns in this much detail. On top of that WTSMG was my second CD purchase with my own money as a kid (and first that was my generation's music) so Oasis always hold a special place in my heart.
Brian, appreciate this video, the actual detail you go into, dates, times, places and other "useless" info, but it means the world to a crazy fan like myself - and others like me. Thank you, Microdot for filling in the blanks all these years later. #BeHereNow25
Loved watching this it's my favourite ever album I've listened to the album thousands of times over the past 25 years every song as a meaningful memory and takes me back in time, now with the album cover story told it feels complete for myself and I expect many other fans. I'm now looking forward to watching all your other videos on oasis and you telling us your memories I'm so glad I've found your channel. You are the hidden mastermind behind oasis that no one knew about you should be very proud of your work it's a fascinating watch 😉
I asked for it a couple of months ago and I got it - in spade loads. Thanks Brian and everybody else at Microdot. That was superb. Peace and love from 🇳🇿
I poured over every CD sleeve when they came out. This one was the one that probably had my attention the most of the first three albums. Thanks for even more on it!
I remember going to the mall with my friends to buy this cd. I can listen to these stories all day. The only thing that could make these videos better would be having Noel and/or Liam present...they probably wouldn't remember much, but it'd still be interesting.
I read the book by Keith Moon's old friend and driver of 10 years, Dougal Butler, not that long ago and he talked about the myth of the Rolls Royce in a swimming pool. He mentioned how the myth started from Keith exaggerating a story (something Keith did a lot) where he tried to drive his car to the pub that was at the end of his drive (The Crown and Cushion in Chipping Norton) in the early hours of the morning. There was a lake/pond in the grounds next to his house and he drove it in there by mistake because it was dark and he was already incredibly drunk. When Kevin Godley of 10cc bought the house from Keith in 1975 the car was still in the pond with the back of it sticking out. There's a brilliant picture of the car sticking out of the lake (like it is on the Be Here Now cover) from an old newspaper clipping.
Another outstanding and informative video. Thank you Brian. My favorite fact is learning that no one in the area had any water to flush their toilets overnight because youse used it all to refill the pool. You can't get more rock'n'roll that that. Hilarious! Love and peace forever.
Love this. Your artwork, inspired me to pursue a creamer n graphic design and photography, which I continue to do to this day. Legendary and love how down to earth you are. Top man!
You're right mate, it is inspiring AF. Love this stuff, takes you right back to the very days. Can't get enough of these channels. Also following that dude, Harvreaves' RUclips channel - he 's just a fan like us, but gives us the goodies.
I’m utterly loving this channel. It’s like someone reaching into my youth, blowing the dust off and giving it a shine. Oasis meant so much to me back in the day and your insight brings the memories of an amazing time back into focus. Can’t wait to see future content and hope to get to the studio one day and have a browse (I’m skint most of the time mate, but you never know). All the best.
Thank you for this. Be here now is an album that means so much to me. The artwork, the music, all means the world to me. I love being able to hear about the artwork. This album cover is one of many that has inspired me to get into photography.
Really interested in seeing a project retroview for the art concept for the What’s the Story LP. Always felt that was a masterpiece that nailed their image and set the direction for quite some time. Would be great to hear what you went through to come up with that. It’s a bit of an enigmatic cover too, it leaves one asking questions. Absolutely love these videos, as a teenager I never really delved into the art, I just bought for the music, but as an adult now who works in design these videos are a real treat.
Thanks so much for these videos. So fascinating and the work that you did (and the work that goes into these videos) is truly amazing and I’m so grateful for it 👏👏👏
I sorta remember seeing a newspaper/magazine article about the Rolls-Royce in the pool and the newspaper/magazine basically going crazy and putting a price tag on the car I'm 40 now and the late 90s are my favorite time thanks to people like you for creating the culture of that era iconic cover.
Great video again Mr Cannon. Cannot wait for the next one. I actually got the album on cd a night before it's release. Brother worked at Safeays and they were setting up the display, luckily my brother got a copy to take home. Was 10.30 pm and I had giant headphones on listening to it
Wait so was the BHN cover not supposed to be a large scale version of the Definitely Maybe cover? Like the band members all doing a variety of things with random objects lying around.
I love the anecdote about the phone box. There is another video with Noel where he is talking about the Be Here Now stage set and laughing about how ridiculous it is saying that there wasn't even a phone box on the album cover and they must have all been so fucked up on coke that they thought the thing with the date on it was a phone box 😂😂!
Superb! This is the best vid yet. I went to design college and was over half way through it when this album came out. I used photoshop in my final year 1999/00. Much more fun to lower the car in the pool.
We love your stories and how you tell them. Have to admit, always been a fan of Oasis’ album covers-pure art! The only other that comes close is Hipgnosis. Curious, are there any books published on your work? We hope so! Keep up the phenomenal work, we just subscribed, God bless!🎨🖌️🙏🏻-Chris & Beth🎧
Amazing mate!!! Love all the stories! You should open up your offices for fans! Id pay good money to walk around in there!! ✌🏽❤️ would love to see an interview with Jill F as well!! Keep it up man!! Big fan!! ❤️
the difference between this channel and other oasis youtubers like that Hargreaves who just makes up stories for clicks. here its all from the source, backed up with dates, documents and just really interesting. So good!
To be fair, Hargreaves mostly uses books and interviews as evidence, and if he does use supposition, he makes it very clear. I agree, that these interviews are gold though.
Late to the party as always. I've just caught up with the previous videos and look forward to future uploads. 👍 Be Here Now was a big thing for me at the time, GCSE results on the same day. Neither were as good as I'd hoped. 😂 I have the boxed album (CD version). I hadn't realised at the time that all of the promo stuff was done by you as well. We visited the boutique a couple of weeks ago and it was great to see all the posters from the time. I still have my Knebworth one. It's not as nice as yours on display though. Love and peace to all. Here's to the next 25 years.
LOVE IT, so much insight....Maybe strange request, but I think it would be interesting to see you "review" all the Oasis sleeves that you didn't design.... I think perhaps only the Stop The Clocks cover lived up to your high standard.
Thanks Brian for all the information and details that you always show in your videos, I'm a big fan of your work as a designer. Long live Oasis and long live Microdot. Today celebrating the 25th anniversary of the album BE HERE NOW. Congratulations!!!!! ❤🙌👏👏👏👏👏
I loved the albums the singles the designs were so unique at the time So love these storys as a graphic designer now great to here now be all done in adobe not nearly as fun
This was the first album I ever queued up for prior to release. Shop owner opened the door and I nearly bowled him over racing to snag the first copy at the shop.
Hello Brian ! greetings from Cordoba Argentina! The other day I asked you for the option of subtitles in Spanish for the videos on RUclips... I want to recognize you and thank you for being part of the Oasis story...
These videos are great but a request would be that you show in more detail how you used to work the overall look of the album by putting the difeeent washes of colour on the negatives or whatever the techniques you would use - perhaps you could do this for one of the early verve eps? Ie there could have surely Ben outtakes or alternative washes of colour or more insight technically into your process - ie that oasis supersonic sleeve with that mysterious blue effect or the verve eps like blue or gravity grave - a more detailed look at how you created the colouring? This would be fascinating x
I've got that fan club only box set. My old man gave to me, although not sure how he got it cuz I don't think he was ever part of the fan club. Anyway, entertaining video as always. Cheers 👍
Really enjoying this series! Question, you said for the vinyl reissue they had to scan the cover of the original LP. I was wondering why this was done rather than using the original photo?
I’ve been an Oasis fan since the beginning, so I’m used to hearing the same old stories repackaged and retold. But your insight and explanation on some of the eras most iconic moments are largely untold, which 25 years on, is something special. Many thanks, and keep them coming.
Thanks Tom, comments like that mean a lot.

On top of that WTSMG was my second CD purchase with my own money as a kid (and first that was my generation's music) so Oasis always hold a special place in my heart.
I second this. More in-depth breakdowns of substance
As an Oasis fan and guitar player with graphics education background, this videos are gold👌🏻
Wow. Just wow. I like the white border idea that tells you at quick glance it's an original (I was once a record collector)
Brian, appreciate this video, the actual detail you go into, dates, times, places and other "useless" info, but it means the world to a crazy fan like myself - and others like me.

I asked for it a couple of months ago and I got it - in spade loads. Thanks Brian and everybody else at Microdot. That was superb. Peace and love from 🇳🇿
I bought the Be Here Now album on the 21st August 1997, and I spent about a week just pouring over the sleeve!
I poured over every CD sleeve when they came out. This one was the one that probably had my attention the most of the first three albums. Thanks for even more on it!
Ciao Brian i tuoi racconti sono pura magia, di un valore inestimabile, grazie!
Saluti dalla sicilia

If only the songs had as much love and care put into them.

The calendar on the cover is different on the North American version of the album. It’s the 26th of August.
Thanks Brian for another brilliant video and explanation. We’re so lucky to be able to hear these stories from you!
Love this. Your artwork, inspired me to pursue a creamer n graphic design and photography, which I continue to do to this day. Legendary and love how down to earth you are. Top man!
Phenomenal back story. Your channel is wildly inspiring. 👏🏻 What record played on the Gramophone?
It was an early Beatles album - off the top of my head not entirely sure which one, I'll look into it.
You're right mate, it is inspiring AF. Love this stuff, takes you right back to the very days. Can't get enough of these channels.
Also following that dude, Harvreaves' RUclips channel - he 's just a fan like us, but gives us the goodies.

So fascinating and the work that you did (and the work that goes into these videos) is truly amazing and I’m so grateful for it 👏👏👏

Nice video Brian. Enjoyed that mate
"Putting a Rolls Royce in a swimming pool was never going to be easy"
Microdot! Iconic
I'm absolutely loving these videos Brian. Really interesting stuff mate.
Genuine history, the thought and layers that went in to each and every Microdot sleeve. Insane
👍🇬🇧❤✨
Very interesting story thank you!
Another belter Bri, loving this series m8

I always thought the rolls royce was photoshopped back in the day. Great vid to learn about how it was completed.
Be Here Now came out the same day as my GCSE results, few lads actually went to buy the album from Music Zone in Leigh before getting their results!
Amazing
Nice! Cheers for the info :)
Was there a reason not to have the words Be Here Now on the sleeve? Did you try it with any fonts?
Great video Brian, enjoyed this.
You have probably been asked this but any plans for videos about The Verve artwork?
Doing some Verve videos very soon!
The Cork gig was at Páirc Uí Chaoimh which translates O'Keeffe Park.

‘Be Here Now’ is also a popular book released in the 70s by the late Ram Dass, an American spiritual teacher who had studied yoga in India.
The numberplate is a masterstroke. Did anyone else ever cotton on to that fact over the years?
Steve cradock has the 21 Aug standing calendar from the album cover.
Oasis should have Held on to You Mate for the other Albums and singles your sleeves where the best mate 👍👍
