They could have become the "b sides" of the Beatles, carrying the spirit forward, but at some point they lost themselves in fame and drugs and the hype flame was extinguished too quickly
Like most music groups, i think how they got signed is part mythical and part false. Im sure Johnny Marr tipped off Alan Mcghee, or one of his associates, to have a look at the band when they were performing in Scotland. The story is apparently Alan McGhee used to date one of the girls in the band they shared the bill with. But if tour ex boyfriend was a music executive wouldn't the girls at least mentioned it to Oasis and let them know they have industry contacts? I just find it hard to believe it was a completely random occurence. Im sure Johnny Marr had a bigger role in them being signed than people realise.
Not anything like the Beatles in terms of success. Their music is far from memorable, and Noel 'The Riff Poacher' Gallagher, is an arch-plagiarist who claims false-authorship of superior artist's ideas.
I really dont care if they reunite or not. I am not the least interested in seeing old versions of bands uniting and playing. It never does it for me. The energy and the vitality is gone

they maybe weren't the next beatles but the us definitely does not have the best taste in music
If I remeber correctly it was "Some Might Say" that was released on 24th of April 1995, and "Roll With It" with "Country House" on 18th of August 1995?
You should do a documentary on The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video man even if you took two shots at America haha. Definitely maybe is one of my favorite albums of all time. We don’t all have shit taste over here.
lmao thanks man
the b-sides .....in the 90's noel referenced The Jam a lot and how strong there singles and b-sides where - they also called Blur an album band ....for the first 2 albums noel wanted to put great b-sides out
Noel did say that A Guy Called Gerald at the Hacienda did influence him quite a bit
definitely maybe is also my favorite oasis album! i discovered it when i was 14 via tumblr and it introduced me to rock music, so it holds a special place in my heart. my favorite song by them is "listen up" though. i can't believe how it didn't make it in the album, it's so good!
Listen Up is sooo good
Hi, great video, what was the gig at the end with Liam sitting down while Noel sings the outro from Slideaway ?
iTunes Festival 2009
Amazing Vid. you should make a video about Depeche Mode, another legendary british band.
i love them, i will probably talk about them in the future too
Good work!
Great video mate 👍
Thanks 💪
Which episode of Matt Morgan podcast Noel said that he was gay? Bcs that pure fucking gold lmaooo
80 million watched the beatles us tv debut,250 thousand people came to see them arrive in sydney....different level of fame completly
yea
'' Did your favorite bands have the peak of their careers before you were even born?''
Erm, NO ?
lol old man
While I will admit the first two Oasis albums were great, they dropped off badly after that and comparing them to the Beatles is a joke, I thought that back in the 90's when tabloids started doing so and I think it now
You are right though here in America, we just didn't care....
They are not the Beatles.. The Beatles were more than ticket sales... Or album sales
And to be honest, their songs just do not compare.... Never did
They were just some kind of Pop hype
Who cares what America thinks of OUR music. America isn’t the centre of the universe you know! 🤦🙄
@@startracker5895 The Beatles were popular more places then just the UK. Oasis is basically a UK band. They didn't strike it across the pond. Over here they are essentially a one hit wonder.
@@jeffk.9075 To be fair, they were also massive in Japan and Latin America. The US not getting them is more of the exception here. In my opinion, their disrespect for the media and corporate music business was something that felt inspiring in the UK, as they have working-class pride there. Meanwhile, the entertainment industry is such a powerful authority in the US that even regular people considered the Gallaghers' attitude rude, even though all they did was not take media etiquette seriously.
@@dlovas that's a fair way to look at it. I'm just one of those random guys that didn't get why everyone fell over backwards for Wonderwall. It's a good song but come on.
@@jeffk.9075 I totally see your point. I'm fan, and even I think that what they represented culturally is a far more important element of their success than their music. Oasis made the working class feel like that it’s suddenly cool to dress, talk and behave like them. The songs were tasteful and catchy, but there’s nothing innovate or interesting about them apart from they’re performed by the lads down the corner.
26:43 you can see Noel’s soul leave him as he realises Liam has just fucked up the show and the live album being recorded that show
maybe a video about ‘those boys from Sheffield’? (lol)🙏
yesss
You called this 4 months prior to the announcement of a Oasis reunion on Aug 27th. Biblical.
he just changed the title and thumbnail lol
nooo shhhh, im a genius
the Sister lovers gig where they meet MgGee ........Oasis didnt threaten the door staff to get into the gig - Sister lovers had to give up half of there set time so Oasis could play for 20 mins
I would like you to write about one of our Greatest British Rock and Pop Acts; XTC.
Also I think OMD ( Orchestral Movenuveres in the Dark) and James could do with a spotlight video made about them as well.
I'll look into them
Sorry for the spelling mistake.
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
Personally, I’m actually glad Oasis ended and I can’t really care less if it comes back or not. I personally really vibe with High Flying Birds (Chasing Yesterday is genuinely one of my favourite albums ever made). I feel like Noel as a songwriter really branched out more after Oasis ended and it really shows (to my ears at least ).
To be honest, they sound nothing like the beatles.
I think the beatle of the 90s should be radiohead, i mean apart from their 1st album, the second(the bends) and the third(ok computer) are a hugh step up from their music production
definitely not, when you ask people about the beatles, they know them, and know at least one of their songs, thats anyone, if you ask people about radiohead they'll go "oh that virgin music?" and this is coming from a fan of radiohead
@@Snippyyy so we gonna ignore creep( yeah i know it is their most popular song but not their best song during the 90s)
@@sonminh7262 yes, we are going to ignore creep, creep is not at all an accurate representation of the band and you know it, one popular song does not make you "the beatles of the 90s"
@@Snippyyy Dude, im trying to justify your point "and know at least one of their songs" , ofc creep is not their best representation of the band is about, but if we follow this point then creep is their most know song. btw, just listen to OKC and the bends to see why i meant the beatles of the 90s
@@sonminh7262 ive listened to both these albums many times, and while i understand what you are saying, i still just dont think i could call radiohead the beatles of the 90s, but i respect your opinion
If you're planning to go and see them in 2025 you better start getting some overtime in. 😉
when I was young I thought the song, Songbird- by oasis was a beatles song by John Lennon.
close enough
Liam lennon and noel mccartney
I don't see them getting back together. The personalities are too strong, and they're both doing so well without each other. Noel has proven he doesn't need Liam, and Liam has proven he doesn't need Noel. Liam still seems like he would welcome a reunion, Noel doesn't seem interested at all. Whatever, the music lives on.
me neither tbh, or even if they do get back together they will never be as as they were in the 90s
Noel would let himself be a feast for maggots before sharing a stage with Liam again. They simply need to go back to being brothers.
Krysis, how are u doing.
Do you think Oasis were greater than Nirvana in the 90's?
I don't want to sound like a politician but I hate comparing bands lmao, they were both great
Different genres. Different worlds.
Nirvana were definitely far more original in their songwriting, though … if that means anything to you.
@@kierenmoore3236 I am the alt generation and grew up in the UK
There can be a GREAT overlap
@@aotctd You have nothing to do with how music genres are defined. Cute of you to think so, tho’.

Krysis...how about some Ned's, Carter USM, and Dodgy?
I don't know who they are but I can look into them
@@Krysiss Right on. Keep up the good work.
Noel looks younger off drugs @25;15.
the camera takes off 10 years
Liam got his front teeth ko by an Italian dude in the Bayerischer Hof in Munich.
jschlatt cameo was not expected lmao
he is the 9/11 man
Here to defend Heathen Chemistry
americans gotta learn to separate art from the artist, even if you dont like the gallangher brothers, you've gotta admit they were pretty good man
They obviously love The Beatles but when they started the Sex Pistols, Stone Roses, Slade and Bowie were huge influences. Listen to Fade Away. Its Punk Rock all the way.
Yea I the punk influences are really obvious on Definitely Maybe but they got caught up on the whole Britpop thing
Oasis is my favourite band ever
'The Beatles of the Nineties"? Dream on . . . . .
Birdy Birdy Numb Numbs
everyone says oasis is overrated but they arent. ye defintely maybes way better than morning glory
they're amazing
They were a Beatles tribute act, and also robbed T-Rex (Stand by Me).
Still waiting for the stone roses video...
ive started writing the script bcz i was inspired but i need to learn more about their history
Could you do a vid on inspiral carpets or carter usm please?
How about doing one on Peter Hook versus New Order? All the bickering, Hooks statements to the British press, his autibiography and the legal messes.
That actually sounds interesting, how can I look more into that?
@@Krysiss I'd check out Peter Hook's book 'Substance- Inside New Order ' and 'Chapter And Verse- New Order, Joy Division And Me' by Benard Sumner. Both are very good books.
@@michaelwilson2340 Alright, thank you
It was August 1995, not April - the Battle of the Britpop Bands
Maybe but that's the story the band tells and I can't really go back in time to prove them wrong lol
Uh, their sound also included The Sex Pistols, Stooges, Stone Roses, Kinks, and Nirvana.
Liam even said he would have loved to be in the Sex Pistols.
he would outshine everyone there tbh
@@Krysiss That’s what he said, but he was talking mainly about John Lyndon (Johnny Rotten) and he respects him/them.
The US had a lot of great bands at that point. Second British invasion picked a bad time
Personally…….. Blur was better.

thanksss
Not anything like the Beatles in terms of success. Their music is far from memorable, and Noel 'The Riff Poacher' Gallagher, is an arch-plagiarist who claims false-authorship of superior artist's ideas.
I really dont care if they reunite or not. I am not the least interested in seeing old versions of bands uniting and playing. It never does it for me. The energy and the vitality is gone
yea honestly, there's no way they'll be as good as they were in the 90s but at least they'd be getting that bag ig
Did You change The name of The vídeo?
yea, just testing stuff
DOYS is loved
Disrespectful towards the Beatles. Oasis has 1 known song, that’s why jay z made fun of em
And Then Comes Green Day, The Beatles Of The 2000s (Atleast That's What I Think They Is), But Got Their Downfall And Rise And Downfall And Rise Again After Their Stupid Trilogy Album & Father Of All
