installed a grade rod and water level on the grader atachment and give it a try. We are running grade on a 60x120 new shop for my buddy. you will also see in this video the new roller in action and had a small problem with it stay tunned.

20:54 Always wondered why it was a big deal to get the ground absolutely perfect when the concrete would level it out at form height. Never thought about the amount of concrete wasted if it wasn't as accurate as possible. I'll probably never use the information, but happy to now understand the reasoning behind it.
Uneven sub grade can also cause stresses that may cause cracking or in the extreme, failure.
Uneven ground is a pain to set forms on also. It also makes grading around the exterior of the building much more difficult. All lead to wasted time and $$$$$
20:53 'We're making cabinets out of dirt' :D that was funny.
😜😁
That roller should come in handy and be just the right size for your operation. Nicely done Mike!
I agree thanks Clyde
That's a LOT of fill ! Most just don't appreciate the skill it takes to bring a pad like that to grade. Good job !
Thanks
See Mike , you and Matt make a great team and lots of humor thrown in. Great video and thanks for doing them. Be Safe you guys and families too. 👍👍🇨🇦🐶❤
Thanks buddy
Job turned out nice. I especially like Matt's "Redwing grader attachment" on the bottom of his leg when he would remove a rock. It works great when golfing too except, it would be considered a "foot wedge". Lol. Good job.
lol thanks buddy
A good transit person can save you a lot of time and money. I use an Apache magnetic receiver on my excavator saves a lot of time. Good job, I enjoy your videos
Nice set up.
Thanks
Nice to see the laser and level idea works Mike. It's a grader set up than it was before !
Thanks Mike... I’ll be hearing that beeper all day! Perhaps it’ll help me keep my chainsaw plumb and level???
Those upgrades will make your jobs easier.. and already paid for themselves.
Nice results!
lol thanks buddy
I have been figuring out how to get a rough grade with my sub-compact tractor with loader/frame mount backhoe attachment as opposed to shovel work. With an upgraded laser with similar machine attachment laser receiver, I have become much more efficient. If I can learn with less than perfect machine for the job, I can't wait to get on something that is better suited (skid steer/backhoe/mini dozer/etc.)
Off to finish the project for today. Enjoyed.
When you mentioned the pad being raised up to be above the flood plane and then you see the level of the road at 2:25 compared to the pad it really makes you wonder how anything has ever been built there in the past.
Yes was a house there never flooded
Fantastic job, I remember those days when I was younger. I operated a Dynapac just like it. It was fun to operate but don't eat a heavy lunch before you get on it.
Thanks and awesome
Thanks John
Thanks for these kind of videos. It's helpful for those of us who don't have any real experience in this phase of construction. Man it does look great!😊
Thanks and awesome
Michael, you are a dam good all around operator and problem solver👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🍿🍿🍿🍿👍🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thanks mike
dozer move that much material in 1/2 the time of a skid steer, not to mention climbing piles in the dozer is fun.
Both true
Sweet set up! Simple "AND" effective! LOL!!!!!
. . . . You have got a really good crew . MBTS , Mr.Milenial , Cpt. Cleman .
This Dynapac is one of the most reliable rollers you can find.
I did transport to Dynapac in the 80's and the ones I delivered to
had only good to say about them. They mostly use Kubota, Deutz and
Cummins engines nowadays. In addition, it is Swedish.
Very tidy job - agree dozer definitely the best tool for bashing out those piles. It's not just because the blade is bigger, but also extra compaction and vibration from the bigger metal tracks. 👍
Thanks
You and Mr. Millennial great job
I suppose you ”could” have used a FEL on a backhoe or even a rake and shovel. BUT I think you're right, this really was a job for a dozer. Excellent work and as others have stated thanks for sharing your method to the madness. 👍
Nice clean job! Like your improvements. Always nice to start building plumb, level and square!! Enjoyed the video.
Thanks
Mr. Perfect, thanks for adding a date marker, "mid-April". Always fun when the 'keystone cops' music starts. RE: Improvements, my experience is that every project is an opportunity to consider new tools. Thanks for posting.
Thanks and thanks for watching
Nice to work Smart You are a Master Excavator Nice job
Thanks appreciate that
If you turn the vibrator off just before you stop it won't leave the divit. Especially when you're going forward to reverse
👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and adventures. The grader attachment is certainly getting refined, nice dozer skills too. The only takeaway I was left with was I hope you had some hearing protection, since the tinnitus in my ears was ringing in sympathy. I never gave it much concern until it was to late. Stay safe, wishing you and your family the best.
Yup thanks Tom
One thing to keep an eye on with the D4G Dozer... We had a harmonic balancer that either got loose or the rubber inside wore out and, when it started wobbling, it broke the front of the crankshaft off. Just be sure to check it often to make sure it is running true... lest you wind up half way through a job, like us, and the engine breaks. That was not a fun time.
*Edit* We believe it started going bad a few weeks prior to it breaking. We noticed the machine start to vibrate a little bit more than usual and the exhaust started to rattle as a result. We were optimistic that it was nothing more than an exhaust issue and it bit us in the a$$. After spending 12 grand in repairs we got rid of it.
What ever it takes to get the job done. I set grade stakes to finish a job because the laser wasn't available. Gotta do what ever it takes. beg, borrow, steal or grab the transit and get down to business. 😁
Yup and thanks
Looks good my friend
Another nice job done, I have a brand new unused walking stick paint marker here in its carry case you could have, the only trouble is we are in Cheshire England......lol.....
Lol thanks bob
Another dam nice video I'm thinking Mr Matt is a keeper as well I really glad to see the growth in your company that awesome Mike keep up the good work
Thanks and I agree
Another piece of ejuipment in you fleet no stopping you now
You're a man of many talents Mike
Thanks buddy
Looks good now plumbers can come in and dig it up for drains .
Lol about right
Not bad at all might even say PERFECT 👍
I always get a kick out of the 3 stooges music. LOL, keep up the great vids and work. STAY SAFE.
Thanks
glad to see the upgrades
Thanks
Great job... I know the owner is happy. You sure made that site ready to build a building on. Great video Mike. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
Thanks and thanks for watching
Nice job you did !!
Thanks
Good idea putting level and stick on grader
Thanks
Man that grader attachment is money!
It is
I do believe he had the vibration was on in the wrong direction. Our ingersoll has to be switched from fwd vibration to reverse vibration every pass prob why it was pushing the drum so hard
👍
😂😂😂😉😉😉
Nice job with the less than ideal fill. The customer should be very happy. The building will be nice and high off the surrounding ground too.
That grader is coming along good for you. Never thought you'd use that much though did you
I didn’t either
Looking good
Thanks
I think you had the right equipment for that job.
Thanks me to
I think you made a good call using the dozer to spread the material at first, just faster and not as hard on the dozer. It’s nice to see the grader working well for you after all the work you’ve done on it. I think it’ll be a money maker and time saver for you. Nice job!
I agree thanks
Well done!!!
Thanks
That's a pretty ingenious setup!
Thanks
It would be nice if someone created a floater for this like they use for concrete. You could drag a log across the whole area once you rough it out. Done. Thinkin' outloud. You're welcome. kek. I'm liking the level meter on the machine, although it sucks for the audio when watching the vids. Jus' sayin'.
Note: You should pay Matt more just for putting up with you. [They] need to make a sh*t ton of money on the batteries, so we will continue to have problems until we call it out.
Well done, boys.
Great job! Between a dozer or the skid steer on the initial grade I go 100% dozer. You get a greater compaction and you move a heck of a lot more dirt. That is seen by the fact that dozer hardly move from level between pills. You’d have to take Dramamine if you use the skid steer.😅
👍😁
Great video y'all have a great day and stay safe 👍
Thanks
Those little cat dozes are hard to beat awesome machines beats komatsu dozes. Glad to see little roller easy to transport. Excellent job and video thak you sir.
Yup thanks buddy
I have a question about compaction . I know they started filling in and I assume they stripped the topsoil first , but how compacted did they get what they spread out with just a tractor ? and you spread the last 2 feet of fill with the dozer , which compacted some . that roller is probably good for 10''-12'' of compaction ? I am guessing . I would think it would need compacted with the roller every 12'' of lift or so . Are you worried about settling after they pour concrete ? From what I have seen I would guess that only the top 12" or so I compacted . Please enlighten .
Seat time, you got it. Looks great
Loose the buzzer and try to go with watching the lights. You'll hear it in your dreams.
Thanks I explain in the video why I used the buzzer
Great video, DP!! If only you had a time machine and could've used the Minotaur on this one. I wonder how the grader attachment would work on that beast??
Gotta love improvement thumbs up my friends
Thanks
curious as to why you didnt roll/compact the sides with the new roller , seems like it would help ? like the vids , keep them coming.
Good grading and making it look easy!
Thanks
I spent 5 months on a compactor with the foot pattern on it. The first week on that sucker when I get home I would still feel the vibration in my body when I sit still an when I would go to bed. Talk about rattling your brain 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣 but I loved every min of it tho. I was born to operate! 👍🏻👍🏻
Brain fart what's the foot pattern called?
I really like all of your shows ☺️
Thanks
Great quality work 👌. That is why everyone wants you to do their projects
Thanks
"You want one pass or two?"
Yes
They will need a ladder to get in the basement ! Nice pi-annor!
Thanks again Mike
Might think about ear plugs when running roller. Thanks for sharing your day.
👍
That's looking good awesome
Like the laser for the grader attachment Mike, makes it much more job friendly, hope you built it Kleeman proof 👍😂😂
great addition, but nothing is Kleeman proof, just as a good cell phone that claims water proof for only a certain depth equals water resistant.
Lol time will tell
You should be compacting every foot of fill, running it along wirh the dozer. The building will sit on the concrete pilings , the after a few years the slab will crack because the raised base wasn't compacted correctly..
K
Always a great job. Keep it coming
Good idea. Cost 1/4 as much as GPS.
Yup thanks
i know you're on that machine with the engine running in your ears but I think your setup should be like a drag racing tree with just lights for up down. Loose the squealing! Great low budget idea!
It has lights but like I explained you can’t watch both and only one makes noise 🤷♂️
It sure is interesting watching Mike and crew getting a job done professionally.
No dilly dally waste my time B.S.
The way Mike explains how he works makes it clear he could open an academy for operatining construction equipment and he'd have to turn away students he'd have so many applications.
Thanks
Does your man need to disengage the vibratory lever when stationary? We could see it sinking into the ground when he stopped to talk to you. That sure was a pretty pad when you'd finished, and I loved the sides that you finished with the dozer. Jobs like this make great videos.
Thanks and yes was his firsts pass
A proctor is for density and moisture , compacting . required for buildings like this in Ohio , along with test results .. depends on county though . i worked at at testing lab for 15 years .
👍
sweet
That is a Dirt Perfect job! lol
Thanks buddy
Good video!
Thanks
I wish I knew more about this stuff. After reading the comments, I found that I'd like to make suggestions without the information of what you have done. I want to sound like a know-it-all too.
Lol all good 😁
After making a pot of coffee I grabbed my phone and went to You tube and found a new Dirt Perfect video. Awesome job on the new building grade!👍👍😁
Awesome terry
You see how nice that quarter circle bubble level and the laser receiver on the rod work. You can put that on the D4 dozer also, it works fine on the D3 for me.
Yup have one 😁
I think folk use skid-steers far too much on heavy work when the dozer was built for the job.
I agree
Nice laser setup. That stick kinda looks like it could put a lot of leverage on the welded nut. If you’re having trouble with them breaking in the future try using coupling nuts. They’re a good bit longer and will give you more surface to weld on.
👍 no problem yet
Good job looks nice!!👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks
I had my doubts about that grader attachment but I think I'm starting to see the value of it...nice job!
Me to
G'day Mr Perfect, you might already know, but we always use a darker colour for a marking out and we find the best is blue.
👍
That makes the grader much more efficient!!
It does
Like a pro.
😁
Your parents must be proud , I know I would be . I would probably have a bumber sticker on my truck saying , Your kid may be on the honor roll but mine is DIRT PERFECT.
Lol thanks buddy
Can we get bumper stickers for that
We used to go 12 inches per lift and compact each lift but that's in Texas, everyone has a different way of doing things.
We usually do 12 to 18 inches too depending on soil type, what we're compacting it with and whether it's just a ditch for pipe, a building pad, etc.
Nice job. Wish I had half that dozer skill.
Thanks
good video
Thanks
Another great job.
Thanks
Where did you get the level scale let you know your level left to right, that looks really handy I’ve been looking for something like that, for my greater attachment, I really appreciate these videos they also help me out to.
On eBay
Dirt Perfect what is it called, to make it easier to look up please. And thanks
What exactly is it called I can’t find it on eBay.
Awesome Job!!
Thanks
If I ever got the chance I'd like to play in dirt with a D11 CAT 🤩. I've picked up a vibrating roller like that one from an auction to deliver to the buyer it definitely has a poor suspension 🤣 it was a rough ride just getting it on the trailer
have to shake my head at those who second guess you. after all you do "know it all"!! at least its its your business, right there, so I'll just watxh!
Nice pad! Good job fellas!
Thanks
👍
