Suzuki GSXR125 Best 125cc Sportsbike?

- The Suzuki GSXR125 surprised me! It might just be the best 125cc Sportsbike all things considered. This is also one of the first times I kinda felt like it was worth its price tag, even if it is double the cost of some Chinese offerings.

Suzuki is always the best bang for your buck. I love all the Japanese bikes I don't care if I'm riding Yamaha Kawasaki Honda whatever they're all dope
gixxer L7 508 defiantly not the most bang for your buck at ALL, the Lexmoto Lxr is more worth the money
@@cammydough3184 it's quite heavy, big and down on power in comparison and the build quality is noticeably lower. The lxr125 is a good budget 125 sports bike but not quite comparable to the gsx r125
AAZZA 22 but for double the price? Would you really pay that much more for an extra 10mph at top end? Bigger rear tire feels safer on the road as well
@@cammydough3184 the rear tyres on lxr's are really bad rubber and they don't give you much grip tbf. I'm not denying that it's decent value for money but it's cheaper for a reason and it's more evident when you've had experience on both. I'd say that the downside on the suzuki is the price but they're starting to get a bit cheaper now especially for the earlier 2017 models. I'd say the downsides for the lxr though is that the tyres are pretty much plastic and they aren't too confidence inspiring, the frame is less stable, it's down by about 3hp (which is kinda a lot when the max amount is 15hp) while being 30kg heavier which won't help and the suspension is definitely an after thought. I will say though that the gsxr and the lxr are 2 very different bikes and you can't really compare them. The gsxr is more fir people who enjoy the aspect of carving through canyons and riding pinned through the twisties whereas the lxr is more of a commuter bike for teenagers going to college and back everyday that want something that looks cool and makes them feel fast and both bikes have trade offs due to the prices. Please don't take this the wrong way, the lxr is good for the price and it's a decent enough bike at the end of the day but the gsxr out performs it in every way to the point where I feel the price is justified
@@cammydough3184 lmao that lexmoto is gonna break down way sooner before you even need to do some serious maintenance on the Suzuki
I'm turning 17 next month and looking for one of these I've been watching so many videos but I agree for a first 125cc its a bit costly but I'm look forward to it :)

Would not normally have clicked on this one Spicy! Glad I did though, interesting (as the only 125 I've ridden was for my CBT!), and you coaxed a few good laughs outta there too :) happy days keep up the good work!
I’ve been riding this bike since late April 2018 and I’ve been loving it so much. I’ve had 89 mph out of it. That’s loads for the size of the bike.

When you tested it off camera on your friend's private road, what was the top speed you managed to it up to, Spicy ?

Just ordered a hoodie, have a great Christmas mate, all the best for 2019.
Hey thanks! Same to you and yours!
im 6.1 and im gonna get this bike as my first i love how it looks how it feels has this sporty type i actually like it
Sorry to be that guy, but all the 17 year olds commenting about the Yamaha being the best bike... how can you know? I’m sorry but how many 125’s have you all actually ridden? 😂 great video btw spicy, have been talking about this bike with the apprentice lately so no doubt we’ll be discussing this video later today as he’s a sub too! Merry Christmas!
Is to be expected they're young they don't understand. But they will in time 😙
I have an r125, and have bigger bikes but not rode many 125s baring the cbr and a couple others. I've looked on youtube and so far the r125 is the fastest hitting 87mph, unless it's a 2 stroke of course. Edit: Oh and I'm 27 just as a side note.
@@BurntFossil look up the rieju rs3. Carbed version of the yzf engine and is supposedly faster than the yzf too.
@@lewis0595 Can't find much on the carbed version, only the Marathon which is a carbed r125 engine supermoto and tops out around 80-ish mph.
Of course, when discussing top speed, or any speed, we often forget to factor in speedometer error. So 90mph is probably ~81mph, 80mph is ~72mph, etc.. Unless one is taking their speed readings from a GPS, or has a properly calibrated speedohealer installed. Regardless: 80-90mph on a 125 is pretty good.
I recently moved up to a 125. I got an old 2004 CBR for cheap money. Stripped it to the frame and rebuilt it. It will easily do 70 so I'm very happy with it aha
Moved up? To a 125? My man you started on a bicycle or what
@@atem8101 started on a 50cc kymco when I was 16 as that's all we are allowed to ride... At 17 I got a 125 as that's all we are allowed to ride. I now have a 250 and a 600 lol
Love the channel Spicy! i'm thinking of getting a Hyosung GT125R but would like your opinion on it first
From what i hear from owners they are great bikes! But that is all i know for sure. 👍 Thanks dude!
I've got one, good bikes on power considering there carberated, very had to get parts for, well.in the uk they are anyway.
Yeah, you are right, buddy..... In Indonesia, for local marketing, we produce this bike in 150 CC. And for europe, we know that 125 CC for small bike. So, the different just in CC level.
In Indonesia, we produce 3 type of this bike:
- GSX R150
- GSX S150
- GSX 150 Bandit
Loved the video, reminded me of some of your older ones on the 125cc bikes.
I've been umming and ahing about getting the GSX-R 125 for a while (as a first bike to ride on CBT (and then to hand down to my kid brother when he's old enough lol)), think this settles it! =D
Spicy rides very differently to me, it looks like he is constantly up in high revs, sometimes near the limit, as the RPM warning light blinks, which the manual suggests never to do, and is in lower gears in comparison to where I would be. Not sure how that will affect mileage but I've seen around 115mpg when the rated is 122mpg.
It's a really great bike, very nimble, the keyless function is a great addition and is something I want going up to bigger sports bikes, but you have to remember to put the steering lock on or the bike is actually still possible to be turned on in the neutral position.
The mileage is great even for a 125 with it's light weight. The only downside is that it's a very small bike if you're a taller person, almost impossible to tuck yourself in properly which leads to what Spicy had, a body full of wind!
The paint is like all other GSXRs, it stone chips very easily so take care with it!
The rest of the bike is top quality, the single wavy disc for front brake hasn't yet failed me even having to really go for it to slow down in a hurry.
I first wanted a Honda CBR for my first bike but when I saw the GSXR my mind was made up instantly and I have no regrets. The YZF might be the best 125 sports bike but it's not as valuable and the GSXR comes out as winner imo.
When I was on my friends private road :^) I managed to hit 75mph but had to slow down as sharp corner was coming up, there was still more in the tank though so 80 is possible!
Cheers!
Owner of a white 2018 GSXR125.
I have a GSX R-125 and I drive it on a daily basis with my friends on MT´s, YZF´s, Duke´s and RC´s. Nothing can keep up with me if I really want to go flat out. The driver is the most important part, but when the gixxer is so much better it gives me a huge advantage. I have upgraded it fully out with a Scorpion echaust, MRA windscreen, R&G tidy tail, R&G crash protection(Everything) and a suzuki tankpad (and sidetank pad). I personally think the Suzuki is the best 125. Offcourse im a bit biased, because I own one haha.
how tall are you and is it comfortable to ride?
love when you know the area, lovely roads
OMG it tells you to "GO" when you turn it on.
I want to see you on a Duke 125 :)
This.
I did my test on a Duke 125. It's crap. My honda pcx 125 accellerates much faster.
@@jaccovw99 Why am I having trouble believing any school would do CBT's on Duke 125 instead of much cheaper Lexmoto's and Hondas?
Also, massive gulf in difference to having no experience with a geared bike, being on a battered school bike and being under the eye of a CBT trainer. Why did you end up on a pull and go? ;)
Despite a Duke going 80mph, faster does not mean better by the way. (I saw you edited your comment, no way a scooter accelerates faster than a geared bike. Your shifting must just be whack)
@@wholeshowThe owner of school got the bike from his nephew, who now drives something else. Admittedly, I did not have much experience shifting, however I feel like the scooter accelerates faster up until 50-60 mph because the vario transmission keeps the little engine in it's ideal powerband, and eliminates the need for shifting. The top speed is lower though.
@@wholeshow I know of a riding school here who has 1 duke 125 and a CB125 as lessons bikes.
But we don't have lexmoto here or something similar ;)
That’s lovely. I have done some dual carriageway way riding and I struggle to find any pleasure pleasure in it. I would rather take the back roads and enjoy the experience of getting there slower.
For me then, the advantages of having a big heavy bike would not outweigh the downside. This or a Versus 300 appeals muchly after I wave goodbye to my L plates😂
Excellent video. Can you compare the LXR and the GSX-R? Or the Suzuki is simply much better?
Part of the reason for keyless ignition is weight reduction
I just got this bike a couple months back and have been loving it, it does leave me wanting for a little more but understanding it’s a 125 and that in the UK you need to do your CBT first it’s a perfect little run around, if the bigger bikes you’re going to get are supersports this is a perfect starter
Love the 125 videos Spicy. The little Suzuki? Very good, yes, but exciting no. I have owned about 30 different 125 bikes and scooters, could be more. The current generation of non-Japanese Japanese bikes are excellent for the money. If they were built in Japan they would cost a great deal more. And people these days do not wanna pay it. They are easy to ride, reliable, economical and look pretty good. But for someone who wants to ride fast on road they’re useless offering pathetic acceleration slower than a large family car. They offer an enjoyable ride but never an exciting one. Compare to a two-stroke road race bike offering 80 mph when still restricted, and good for 100 mph plus deristricted. 0 to 60 in 6 seconds on the RS125. 5 If you change the sprocket size. In 5000 miles on my RS125 I was overtaken twice on my Yamaha MT125 I was overtaken by everyone and struggled to outrun pensioners on mobility scooters! Such a shame they stopped producing the two strokes. It would be good to see you riding one!
Was literally just scrolling through the review playlist 😂
Put 250 miles on my GSXS125 already after a few days not bad.
I have a GSX-S 125 with a lot of mods: Yoshimura exhaust, k&n filter, lipo battery, pillion peg delete, 2nd air injection delete, Kijima screen, tail tidy and ~£300 worth of aluminium and titanium bolts from probolt. I saw 87mph at redline in 6th on a slight downhill stretch of "racetrack" in wind free conditions. I've now gone a tooth higher on primary sprocket and it's almost as quick still but much more relaxed. Welcome to ride if you're ever in south west for any reason.

Got mine when they came out,
The Good
handeling and power for a 125 is good, it feels stable at 60-70mph
Having you wireless key fob on you main key chain mean you wont ride off with out them by accident
The Bad
The wireless key stop working it wil connect to a different signal, you have to hold the fob under the wheel arch to make it reconnect
Had to have the bike towed once ,corrotion on the electronics stopped the bike starting (probably from poor bike cover and it was raining alot)
The quality of metals used is bad, lots of small rust spots now
I keep mine outside with a cover on all the time, needs alot of wd40 spray
I've had the front and rear brakes serviced, they got too much salt from grit they put on the roads during winter
Most of this can be avoided with a good bike cover, regular mainance
can you test the aprilia rs4 125..
Ask aprilia
looks like a really good 125 but as a future beginner of bikes I am more interested in 250cc or 300cc because with suck lower end A2 bikes they have more speed than 125cc to not be too slow in highways if I would go between 2 towns, but some of the 125cc bikes do look fun and interesting as well while being cheaper and being available straight after CBT so temptations are real 😁
I ordered this bike for my first bike and I’m glad I did
Think bike sticker on the bmw that over took you 🤔
Yep I did laugh at that, but didn't criticize that fact as it was a safe overtake.
It bloody better be the best with the enormous price tag
It is not the most expensive 125cc by far

Bikes I have owned are, Honda Cub C50, Honda Superdream Twin, Yamaha DT125, Yamaha TZR125 ( race tuned ), currently riding a Vespa ET4 125 but want a geared 125 and it’s either going to be GSX S125 or GSX R125 ( Toss a coin time )
Bro please test ride the Yamaha xsr125cc you won’t be disappointed! It’s incredible for a 125!
I've been looking at the Yamaha YZF-R125 as I'm 17 in February, they look really good as well!! Agree with you on the keyless thing though, seems more hassle than it's worth. Other than that it also seems like a good option, still will be going with the Yamaha though!
Have heard the YZFs crank bearings bust after a short while. Honda CBRs are equally as fast a better priced, and last a heck of a lot longer. Might be biased but i pulled an indicated 95 on my cbr with a bit of wind. 85-90 on a calm day :D

Hate to be the guy that pimps his own bike but right now you can get a Duke 125 new for £2799 and it just wipes the floor with the Suzuki when it comes to flashy gadgets TFT dash, USB port, Bluetooth music control on the handlebars, beautiful LED head and tail light, illuminated switchgear, switchable ABS, ect, ect
Not disagreeing with anything you said but It's not a sports bike in the traditional sense.
@Moto594 - I tried to tell my girlfriend that but she wanted the GSX-S125 anyway.
Hi , what rpm does it sit on at 60 mph in 6th ?
if the main brands do think about their prices soon MR china will pass them soon in key areas
i ride one of these in Bermuda. its a small island with lots of curvy roads 3rd gear is really over the speed limit of 35k. price was 5k witch is not that expensive due to most bikes ranging form 2.5k to 7k on this island.

I'm not gonna be argue bike to another bike can't be compared Depend of usage God night
'You cant compare a used bike to a new one'. Yes, you can because they have EXACTLY the same purpose. Just because someone else has ridden it for a couple of thousand miles, doesnt mean it is not comparable. Only bikes with significant age differences, milages and purposes are uncomparable. For example, you can't compare your XJ6 to a 90s Triumph sprint 900. HOWEVER, you CAN compare your XJ6 to a new Honda VFR800F (Rarely would you do so, but the point still stands).
You don't get a warranty second-hand, it's sold as seen no come back. You can buy used from a dealer in which case you will pay a little more. The big difference is you don't know how that bikes been looked after. Whose to say they didn't nearly run it dry of oil at some point and the crankshaft bearings are about to explode?
@@spicy110 This doesnt make them incomparable though. These are things to take into consideration when looking to by a motorbike, along with the difference in price. There are risks with everything in life, but just because there is more risk doing one thing vs another, doesnt mean they're automatically not comparable. I'm afraid I cannot agree with you on this one spicy.

I muck up with buying keeway rkv125 2016 from brand new and its crap on power
Why is it called 150 in our country? I guess gsxr125 & gsxr150 look the same 🤔
We have a 125cc because it is a 125cc. Our basic licence only allows up to 125cc so if they sold the 150 here it wouldn't be a learner bike.
In our country the cc limit is 150/160. But, we didn't get the 125 one, the 150 looks exactly the same thus the confusion. But I must say this is one of the best bike in the 150/160cc limit for us.

IN MOTO GP COLOURS.
I PAID £3600 NEW. OTR PRICE
ITS A SAVINGS OF OVER £500
SO THIS MEANS ITS BARGAIN
COMPARED TO OTHER JAPANESE AND KTM 125cc OF THE SAME COMPARISON.
ITS SUITS ME PERFECTLY
AS IM ONLY 5.5 IN HEIGHT
COMPARED TO MY PREVIOUS 125cc
A PRE ABS 14 PLATE
YAMAHA YZF R125.
MY TOP SPEED ACHIEVED UP TO NOW
With only 830 miles and
Weighing 17 stones...
IS A IMPRESSIVE 78mph
THIS HAS QUITE ALOT OF FEATURES AS STANDARD
PLUS A FANTASTIC DIGITAL DISPLAY
THE KEYLESS IGNITION IS ALSO A ANTI THEFT PREVENTION FEATURE
WHICH
I CAN HONESTLY SAY IT HELPED WITH THE PREVENTION OF MY BIKE RECENTLY BY SOME LITTLE BASTARDS TRYING TO STEAL IT.
SO I DONT THINK ITS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.
YES THERE CAN BE IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE
SUCH AS
FACTORY FITTED
REMOTE ALARM IMMOBILISER
2 REMOTE CONTROL KEYS.
UPSIDE DOWN FORKS
BETTER BATTERY ACCESS
BUILT IN USB PORTS
BLUETOOTH CAPABILITIES
BETTER QUALITY PARTS
WIDER TYRES
FULL LED LIGHTS AND INDICATORS
FULL STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST
MORE POWER
MORE CUSTOMISED ACCESSORIES
LOWER OTR PRICE
THE LIST CAN GO ON AND ON
BUT
SO CAN ANY OTHER BIKES
Ps. Thanks for the quick review on this
Nah nah nah, ktm rc125, not that I’m biased :P
Hmm.. You could say it definitely lived up to the expectations lol I know you got that bike over 70 mph 🤣.
Did it get up to 80mph
Some say the dots mean something, but who knows
