Hey Group, Hope y’all enjoyed the video. More updates, live-streams, and survival skills on channel: Barely Survival ruclips.net/channel/UCQoZlRjGOijQZAMjmBqZE6w Until Next Time, Bob Hansler
This is quickly becoming my most favorite outdoors channel. I really like the format, lack of BS and treasure trove of good information. Plus, it just feels like spending time outside with a friendly guy named Bob. I've been locked down in NYC for 14 weeks and this channel really helped me get through. Thanks!
Smilac, known as Greenbrier, or Pipe Vine, is all over my yard. I don't mow until I harvest all I can. Mine are big around as my finger, great as a pot herb, or in s fresh salad. The reason they also call it "Pipe Vine" is the bulb can be as big as your fist and some of the finest smoking pipes are carved from it after it is well dried.
Man I am glad to see you without your shades on. I've been away for awhile, my apologies, but we've had you in our hearts and prayers. Thank you sir for the videos and the scouts . Thanks, Brandon
I’m glad your doing good Bob. And great video. It was an awesome 3 course meal! I can’t help but think of the song “A country boy can survive” when I see Mr Hansler piecing together a meal.
I'm being sent to fort bliss Texas in three days and after that a 9 month deployment to Africa for the army. Ive been watching most of your videos for a month now. Thanks for the informative videos you bring out. I feel a lot more prepared for southern Texas, by watching your videos. Thanks for that
I like to think Bob lives in the woods and occasionally goes to a McDonalds or Barnes and noble to charge the cameras and use the WiFi to upload videos. A true trooper. Someone make a gofundme for a new sitting log.
Bob it's always good seeing you and making me hungry for wild treats . Hope everything is well for you and your family ,and continue with your lessons of wild edibles. God bless y'all
Huck is like where’s Kraft services. Bear gets lunch delivery from the Discovery channel. There better be a steak for me back at camp. 😂 Thanks for the video. God bless.
The briar tastes spot on to green beans, loved this tip the first time i saw it, thanks I miss these videos, thank you for continuing to put out your great content
was unaware of a 2nd channel of yours. going to sub immediately after MSG. not something I typically would do but knowing you and with "survival" in the name, I have zero doubt its right up my alley
Ive been watching your vids since you were at 75k subs, watching your videos is pretty calming. Also learning things that I can use when I go hunting in the winter and everything. I respect you very highly and everything you do!
Huckleberry always the picky eater! Ha ha. I sympathize with you on the flies. I’m in San Antonio and them flies are a nuisance when you’re eating outside. I hear them cicadas in that 2nd part!
Great Video, and great to see the legendary Bob Hansler making content again! Those beetle grubs are excellent fish bait! I'd try for some fish before eating them, but that's just me.
Bob, on the matter of starvation, there is a man from Ireland who went 471 days with no food. He had water and minerals /vitamins and dropped over 300lbs. His physician states that he only lost 3% of his muscle mass, which is incredible. I know that this is a apples to oranges comparison, as he was monitored, had nutrients and did it for health reasons. Great vid, abs enjoy your content.
His body was eating its food reserves. You will find that if you have a bit of fat you’ll hit a low blood sugar for an hour or so before your body kicks in and starts burning the fat. Ideally though, having food consistently is best.
Hi from Alabama, I just discovered your videos from watching wooded beardsman...I hope your doing good with your health. I can relate some I was paralyzed at 36 my body mistakenly attacked my spinal cord. I love to hunt and fish, but due to very bad pain I barely get out of bed. So your videos are my outdoor time. Prayers for long health and God bless the man that give you his kidney. Keep the videos coming or else I don't get to go outside!
thanks for the video. abut those flies, I bought this usb rechargeable thing on amazon for 17 bucks I believe, it holds 132 hours of run time on a full charge. I attached it to a stretchy cord and wear it as a neckles and it actually works. It has 3 settings and I no longer fight these flies. It makes a little sound but with it around my neck, unless its totally silent around me, it can't be herd. If you like, Ill send you the link. Best 17 bucks I ever spent!
@@BobHansler just don't trust the band. you'll lose it in 5 minutes. I tied some stretchy cord in a circle and then a second little loop to hold in in the loop and wear it around my neck, little speaker facing out wards. you can activate it by simply pushing the cord and it hits the hidden button. mine has 3 settings the second works beat for pests over my ways but experiment and good luck my friend.
Hello Sir Bob! You know what? Here in my country Philippines we also eat that beetle grubs. But before we cook we take out the black part first coz thats soil. And we wash it very well... But in your case i understand that you did not take it out and not wash it first because your in the woods... Love your videos Sir! Keep safe and GOD bless you always.
Bob, so glad that you are back to work with some new videos, always enjoy the adventures with Huckleberry and you in the wild backcountry of Texas. It seems that your sight is getting better, hope the months of surgeries and recovery were successful. I kicked in to UR Go-Fund Me campaign on a couple occasions. And as for those grubs, I get 2" long ones in my compost bin, they are from the Green, Japanese Fig Beetles, never been inspired to sauté them with garlic, but you never know ! ! ! Be well and keep up the Great Work.
You had me at Chupacabra Seasoning! Love your content! I've been getting a lot more involved in my outdooor activities and recording it! Your channel inspires me! Also, glad to see you back!!
Bob & huck are back,👍nice foraging , whipped up a great pan of oyster mushrooms 🍄 😋 green bean b. vine, & wood grubs, give it a try huckleberry, he say no thanks ! None f that grub 4 me , that was funny silly old pup 😁 nice to have ya back.
In my country it is a big part of the culture to go our looking for edible mushrooms. Ever since I was a child I remember listing through mushroom encyclopedia just for the pictures, played mushroom board game... When i have my own children I need to step up my game, there is so many edible mushrooms in this country, but I only collect the most common edible ones. Not really confident with lot of the more rare ones.

Hi Bob hope u see thus
You're the Bob Ross of survivalists.
Hey Bob is there any chance you can put up some nutritional information?
I’ll start working at that. Most of the time, you’ll be at a calorie deficits. Eat as much as you can, when you can.
What type of dog is huck?
All mushrooms are edible. Some only once.
That hit hard
There are many more deadly plants than deadly mushrooms.
@@tb9734 Yes but plants are much easier to identify
Hansler and Huck back in action!
More to come!

Very tasty. You want quality chupicabra though, quantity means nothing if they are sub-standard.
Bob Hansler huck looks amazing man it’s cool to see a man and his dog outside foraging
I am tripping. This is my neighborhood and I am learning what to survive on. This is awesome! Thank you Bob

try learning from a teacher aswell, books can often not substitute a teacher who knows exactly what to look for, taste, texture, etc.

Glad you found the channel.
Are those the mushrooms nicknamed “chicken of the forest”? Also, man, that dog has an awesome life. Cool vid!!
Actually, mushrooms are hazardous to dogs ...
That is a differant type, chicken of the woods is orange and probably better tasting but it still is a polypore
Gus King chicken of the woods are morels
Careful there Bob, those beetle grubbers have a pretty good bite ! ! !
They did. Had one take hold for a moment.

Yes, "Hen of the woods" mushrooms are a choice edible, they are a ltttle better if you pull off their pores
I’ll look into it.
@@BobHansler I think he's confused, hen of the woods have no gills, they grow in clusters and are in the same family as polypores.
