I appreciate your honesty when it came to the crawfish digging..out in the wild its not as easy as a lot of these surrvival vids make out ..so the fact that you showed that is important.
Bob your content is best of the best. I have watched your Vids for years and you have saved my butt alot when I was down on my luck with no food, homeless etc. I'm about to be homeless in fl due to bad economy in my area so I'm using my last bit of cash to take a bus back to humble tx to survive until I get working and on my feet. Texas has high paying work everywhere, but in the mean time I'll be in survival mode. You will be saving my butt again brother thank you for your knowledge. If I ever see you I owe u a handshake and some drinks brother. I use to live in humble tx working in baytown at Exxon mobile Chem plant, but due to family issues I had to go to FL and I was trapped there luckily I'm coming back to get my life back. Plus my 9 yr old daughter lives with my ex in humble tx so I'm excited to go from nothing to success. Keep up the Vids Bob you know I'll be watching them and you'll be saving my life.
hey bob...im a displanted texan that luvs your style of teaching i give my condolences on your eyesight. my mother recently went blind as well, and being a watercolor artist this was decimating. your knowledge will extend beyond your eyesight. so please, do not stop your instruction. so much knowledge. so little time.
Hurricane Harvey has come and gone for us. The rains that we had expected are now hitting Houston as the storm turned from its original path. All is well here. Video to come.
Bob Hansler, Good Man! Didn't miss a beat. I'm glad to hear all is well. My cousin in Victoria did OK too. Just a lot of fence down and missing 6 head of cattle. His brother is in Houston stuck in a hotel waiting for round 2.
Yes Bob, that's the hat I remember. And I saw this video and I remember that your Daughter didn't like the crawfish or something about the meal that she wouldn't eat. I loved watching these lessons on survival in the world and at it's best!! Thanks Bob!!
You know Sir Bob, i really do appreciate you. You share your knowledge in a way that I can connect with. You are thorough in your videos. Not only do show need to know on how to but you take time to point out the things to look out for to avoid what can go wrong. Awesome video! Thank you!
You're quite possibly the best on RUclips. ( No disrespect to any of the many brilliant people out there bringing great info everyday). Best on RUclips though. 👍
Wish you could come to northern Arizona and teach a class on foraging. I'm still learning the plants and trees here in the juniper mountains and they are quite different then South Texas. Great vid as always, praying for your full recovery. You have a heart the size of Texas and a will of stone, truly a character to emulate. God bless you and yours.
My first time doing a "survival outing" by myself I had fresh shot squirrel and the clams your digging up. good good dinner. gave me plenty of energy to walk the brook for more the next day! glad to see you posting videos!
*Shallow streams and rivers are great places to snorkel! Mix the noodling technique and you will be amazed! I have found large mud cats, channel cats and Flathead catfish under rocks in mid day you might never imagine would live in such shallow water!*
You are a very informative man. Ill admit i was a bit aprehensive to listening to your videos but im very glad i have. You give very good and sound info. Cheers from Wisconsin.
How's your eyes doing I hope their doing better. I really like your videos. You really get in great detail on what you're doing. You do a great job GOD BLESS
It's nice to have you back, please be careful and don't damage anything the doctor has done. Shauna you are a great camera operator. Do you do the editing also? You guys are still on the prayer list. God Bless my friend.
Thank you Mr. Ingram! It's good to be back. We are taking things slowly. Yes sir, I have been doing the editing during all of this. It's definitely been a learning process. We appreciate all the prayers and cards that we have received from your congregation. They are greatly appreciated and bring smiles when we open up the mail. Thank you again for all the encouragement and support! ~Shauna
Hi Mark checking in from the Pacific Northwest as well from an area that is very rich in survival resources . Having some simple knowledge could save your life. Thanks
I thoroughly enjoyed this video.. I really hope it gets a hundred K views.. Because there is honestly a bunch, a ton, that I have learned from this video..
Good to see you back man. Good content as always, keep em coming I'll watch em all (and be sure to let the darn adds play for what it helps) p.s. your wild food videos always make me hungry, especially fish and crustaceans!
Awsome! I always forget the debilitating heat you guys get in summer. Starting to feel the cool of oncoming autumn in the UK. Time to think about moving the spring firewood closer to the house. I look forward to Octobers videos :)
1st off let me say glad 2 see u & yo fam r ok after harvey. now on 2 the video great & informative as always. keep up the good spirits & know u got alotta fans cheering 4 u & wishing u well
Way cool man as a kid growing up in Oregon on a small farm I used to visit the creek a lot I'm not quite sure what kind of clams did they have up in the northwest. catch crawdad and trout but never did I try to look for those clams very interesting
Wasn't expecting a video so soon, I'm pretty excited. However that said, please don't push yourself much, we all enjoy your videos but, we would like to see you better first. Take care and much respect.
Keep making good videos Bob glad to see you're out I'm outside every day fishing hunting trapping just outside enjoying I know how hard it must be for you but never give up always figure out away and you are doing that I have a lot of respect for you and your wife thank you
Hy Bob nice scraper in your hands at the end, thank for the info, watched a couple of Bre videos and yes I have watched you and others do the twining to make rope, she however was the first to teach me the start, you guys always went to quick at that point, you and the Mrs done real good on bringing her up. I now am waiting on all seven of my grandkids to get old enough to use sharp knifes for woodcraft.
KillerPandaKing2650...serious risk of parasites from under cooking. Most clams found n freshwater have parasites, but r completely good if cooked thoroughly. Just because the shell opens doesn't guarantee it's cooked thoroughly...laying flat & shell opens-make sure the juices inside boil for a couple of minutes. Gators r generally n the south east states...including Texas, but snapping turtles r a real risk n almost any body of water. If U do get out n marshy areas...water moccasins & copperheads r often by the waters edge during sunny times of the day. Hope this helps...common sense- keep Ur eyes open.
I use to just hang out in the river all day when I was younger. One picture of a gigantic alligator on the bank in the local newspaper as an adult and I never went back. We would set fish traps in the mud with sticks by making a M pattern and using crushed clams.
On the way again! Congratulations, man! In spanish we have a phrase... "The opera not finish until the big woman sings" Conratulations, again. From Spain, a friend.
I have the same kayak Bob. Love your videos BTW. SHTF situation I'm hooking up with you. I lived in, (and parents still do), the area for years growing up. A lot of the stuff I know already but you've taught me quite a bit more. Thanks.
I've seen way too many giant alligator snapping turtles to ever try noodling here in Louisiana. I'm a native Texan though, but spent most of my life here. An 87 pound snapper nearly got my arm while catching crawfish in a creek once. Scared me to death. His jaws bounced off my forearm. I ran about 40 yards screaming, then went back and got him and loaded him up in the truck. We used to get 8 bucks a pound for them live as breeder turtles, but I think they're listed as partally endangered now or something. I saw some people in the comments that were afraid snakes are gonna get ya in the water. Lol! All the cottonmouths I've seen never gave me any trouble if you know how to act around them, but I've been bitten three times by copperheads. Copperheads here in Louisiana panic when they see you and start striking. One bit my dog once and killed him within minutes. I found him dead and a copperhead was ten feet away. A copperhead got me last summer while metal detecting. I was wearing some croc shoes and one fang got me through a hole. I didn't go to the doctor but was sick for five days and had to keep my leg elevated because of the swelling. It happened over a mile back in the woods and I figured if I wasn't dead by the time we made it back to my friend's house I'd be ok. Besides, doctors are usually far more dangerous than snakes in my opinion.
Here is a man with insight. Good comment. Spent most of my life in Louisiana too. Copperheads and and Cottonmouths are rarely deadly. They're venom is on the low end of toxicity when it comes to North American vipers.
Laugh out loud you brought back memories when we would catch a fish and cut them up tie to the bottom of a coffee can poked with holes that attach a rope and throw it out in Coos Bay River catch crawdad all day long love your show.!👍
Great video, Bob. Thank you for taking the time to make it for us, especially during this difficult time in your life. (^_^) May God bless you and your family richly. Take care now. Kind regards. Liz.
thanks for sharing I did not know that about the crawdads hope you and your family are faring well with the storms haven't heard any updates on your health lately you look like you're doing well prayers are always being sent *huggs from Echo & me*
Enjoyed the vid. We have moccasins in our streams and rivers. Im not noodling! But lots of folks do noodle here in Oklahoma. All the best. Thank heavens the bad part of the storm left y'all be.
The crawdads I've seen here in California they dont build mounds and if you have a net they are really easy to get in the evening when they come out of their holes . We have a lot of those little quarter size clams great for bait. Wish we had the bigger ones. Willows are a gardens best friend. Soak the broken branches in a bucket of water for 24hrs then take them out and you have a great root starter/ root strengthener.
I saw a man using a rake with a chicken wire bucket draging a drain canal and dumping all the clam's in a bucket. Those clam's were no bigger then a 50 cent piece. He said he used them for catfish bait. 😟😕

Those mini-clams are good eating. I still remember foraging for those when I was a kid.
Rivers are definitely one of my favorite things in the world
Glad to see you back in action Bob!!
It made me so happy when you put the endangered clam or whatever back in the mud. Great video!!
Good to see you back making videos.
Glad to see you back. I use clams mostly for bait, so I just smash them between two rocks to avoid cutting myself with a knife

Are there any risks to clam catching?
Diseases, area of gators or agressive fish, or dangerous clams?

Casey Roberts
Yeah these videos are making your state more appealling.
On the way again! Congratulations, man! In spanish we have a phrase... "The opera not finish until the big woman sings" Conratulations, again. From Spain, a friend.
We corrupted it to, "It's not over until the fat lady sings." Pretty crude reference to opera. Carmina Burana is the only one I love.
glad you're doin good Bob!
Looks like one fun way to get some food .
You are awesome. Thank you for your knowledge and expertise
Teach us more about willow trees please
Can do
They are good whips to hurt people and may sting depending how hard you are hit
Wow, clams really are good!
I have the same kayak Bob. Love your videos BTW. SHTF situation I'm hooking up with you. I lived in, (and parents still do), the area for years growing up. A lot of the stuff I know already but you've taught me quite a bit more. Thanks.
"WHEN" the "SHTF" comes, I definitely WANT to hook up with him too!!!!)))))
Can you make a video showing the difference between endangered mussels and non endangered ones ? 😁
Always learning something new with your videos : )
Abundant information. Thanks mate.
Good video. Really darn good info on the stream bifurcation and island foods. Turtle is good eating. Best
You are the best Bob.

Love it fella. Quality stuff. Plenty of good information and ecological interest. Teaching people to use nature but respect it also. Brilliant stuff

Great video Bob. I've used these techniques in both the Guadalupe and San Marcos river. I've not found as many large clams on the San Marcos
But those little clams turn into a big catfish by morning
Catfish digestive systems are clogged with the little clams. They seem to like them.
Very very cool. Thanks. Glad you kinda dodged the Harvey bullet. Makin' me hungry bro.
Great video Bob! blessings..
Thanx for the info keep it up mate cheers from Australia
I saw a man using a rake with a chicken wire bucket draging a drain canal and dumping all the clam's in a bucket. Those clam's were no bigger then a 50 cent piece. He said he used them for catfish bait. 😟😕
Well done! Continued prayers!
Love these kind of vids... Thanks
I wanted to see you cook that stuff up! 😃
Well, good to know you went thru the hurricane. If you are able to upload a video, it means you are ok.
