Thankyou SO MUCH!!! Just purchased a Dremel Lite and the bits that came with it couldn't even fit! Nothing in the instructions explained any of this, so thankyou! 🙏😊
I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.
Thanks for showing this basic info for beginners.....I like it when you take us from the very first step...I have had a dremel for a long time and never use it, and every time I take it out, I have to re-learn, because it all becomes greek to me ........thanks for keeping it simple.....
Thanks so much Sir, You've made My Day!, I found the exact same problem when I got back from the shop today, I needed the small one, will go ahead now and buy that pack, take care and Greetings from England.
This video was wonderful for me to understand the mechanics. I lost the wrench that came with it and I just was able to figure out how to change bits via your video. You just saved me so much time and money and now I can get to my bamboo art! Thank you so dang much. I searched many videos, this one rocked, great video. Very authentic!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am doing the exact same thing you are in this video- same dremel, same set of bits, same collet kit and everything. Much appreciated.
Thank you!!! No idea I needed a smaller collet for my 1/43”- 5/64” drill bits. I bought the same Dremel drill but set as you and when upset that the smallest ones didn’t fit!
Thank you so much! This explains everything! I bought a Black and Decker Rotary Tool today at a yard sale but it came with only a few bits. Was missing a lot and I couldn't figure out why the few attachments it came with wouldn't attach. It turns out at first I wasn't using a collet. So I found the one collet that it had and the bits still weren't altering with it. I think the collet is a little too small. I'll go look and find a collet kit along with other attachments since I need a sanding wheel because the only reason I wanted this is to trim my dog's nails easier. Watched several videos which didn't explain what I needed then to explain before I found yours.
You saved me. I got a harbor freight brand dremel and didn't know what this part was and couldn't get the polishing wheel on. I had to change this part. It came with several. Pretty good deal for $7 for their dremel and accessories.
THANK YOU! This was so clear, helpful and to the point. I was so confused on how to attach it. The paper instructions were unclear. I followed along with you and it was a lightbulb moment. Wish I could leave more than one like! Thanks again
Thank you. I was so excited about doing a project. I got an electric screwdriver and boards... blam. Couldn't use the drill bit I wanted. So, I'll finish my project tomorrow.
I wanted the drill bits, and just happened to grab the collet set as well. Good thing I did! Thanks, I was hoping that choosing the correct collet was just a matter of seeing what the bit fit in, I think it is.
Finally a video that actually answered my question!! One needs to buy a collett kit so she (me) can use the drill bits I bought! Wish I knew that at the store, but then it was a quick decision to grab a Dremel in the first place. Thanks for the video!!
This Saturday (March 20, 2021) I will start my adventure working with Dremels. This video is exactly what I was looking for introducing me to what a collet was, and how to exchange them out. Even more importantly it was the first video that came up suggested. A++ Grade for the presentation. Question to group: How well do the smaller drill bits hold up over time?
I bought the drill bits thinking the width would go bigger at the base since it was dremel branded, just kinda felt like I was buying regular drills in the end 😑 need to obtain a collet now thanks for the info!
Collets are a real PIA to deal with, for bit changes of different sizes, you're much better off buying a Dremel Keyless chuck, will take ALL Dremel bits, and you tighten with your hand no wrench is needed..
I'm stuck. There was never a collet in mine in the first place. I have some of varying sizes in an accessory lot I bought but they don't fit in the screw part???
The threads of the collet nut bolt.... What the collets go into... The housing, well the threads on the housing got smashed and I'm struggling to find the name or a replacement of the part
You have to depress the button while you use the tool (which will lock the nut in place) thus giving you the tension you need to loosen the nut. I hope that helps! 😀
If the collet stops gripping gently & safely spread the 4 Forks with a razor. Then, use a thin sanding disc or thin sandpaper to enlarge the gaps. Just be patient & careful not to break the forks
I don't know why Chinese bronze collet are bigger than the steel original collets of the dremel. I bought a Chinese set and they doesn't fit. The neck of the collet is too thick. Maybe they are an imitation of a old dremel model. I can't find the original neck size anywhere on the internet. I will just stop being cheap and buy the original collets by dremel.
or just change and buy the Dremel Keyless Chuck to fit all size in the set. DREMEL 4486 QUICK CHANGE KEYLESS CHUCK shop.goldpeaktools.com.ph/products/dremel-4486-quick-change-keyless-chuck
Thankyou SO MUCH!!! Just purchased a Dremel Lite and the bits that came with it couldn't even fit! Nothing in the instructions explained any of this, so thankyou! 🙏😊
Thank you for not wasting my time with patronising safety instructions.
Anyone who wears safety gloves using a dremel shouldn't be allowed out.
lol
this helped so much i’ve been having trouble trying to fit the drill bits. thanks a lot!

Now I wont get yelled at by my dad for breaking the Dremel, thank you.
Thanks for the collet tutorial...The info provided will be beneficial.
YAY, your video helped me change the bit, my dremel nut & collet were stuck and I couldn't move it - your guidance was perfect!
This was so helpful. I bought my Dremel years ago and couldn't for the life of me remember how to change out the collet and drill bit! Thank you!.
Thank you so much for making this video! Extremely helpful🙂

Thank you! I felt so stupid because I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. It was the collet! Of course! Simple fix for a simple problem.
I wanted the drill bits, and just happened to grab the collet set as well. Good thing I did! Thanks, I was hoping that choosing the correct collet was just a matter of seeing what the bit fit in, I think it is.

Thank you! Yes...Dremel should add something to the packaging that says 'you will also need...' crafters hate pauses! May Amazon be extra swift.😂

bro,, thank you so much for this
Thank you! I have a set of assorted size collets but I still can’t get one to fit my carving bit - too big or too small!
Thank, it did help out.
how do you change the smooth end under the collet to be able to screw attachments right onto the dremel?
Thanks Jim!
amazing thanks!
Hi is there and extender to use on the shaft flex attachment where the collet goes?
have you tried the keyless chuck?

I'm stuck. There was never a collet in mine in the first place. I have some of varying sizes in an accessory lot I bought but they don't fit in the screw part???

Thank you, Thank you. x
The threads of the collet nut bolt.... What the collets go into... The housing, well the threads on the housing got smashed and I'm struggling to find the name or a replacement of the part
I can't get the nut off to put a collet on...any help???It just spins and spins won't stay tightened, won't come off.
You have to depress the button while you use the tool (which will lock the nut in place) thus giving you the tension you need to loosen the nut. I hope that helps! 😀
Thank you, I was so confused 😐😂
omg THANK you I was trying to install the collet into the nut first like a dipshit and well yeah i'm dumb lolllllll
They now make a keyless chuck....no need to keep track of all those little colletts
If the collet stops gripping gently & safely spread the 4 Forks with a razor.
Then, use a thin sanding disc or thin sandpaper to enlarge the gaps.
Just be patient & careful not to break the forks
I dont understand about the lock button
trying to torture the viewer for 3 minutes...all the viewer wanted to see, was the 3:00 minute mark.

4 minutes?! This could be done in under 1.
if you're that smart I wonder why you watched it? Although you've got a point about unnecessary repetition - I guess some don't get it the first time!
or just change and buy the Dremel Keyless Chuck to fit all size in the set.
