    Hi there Jordy, I've heard some people have problems with their Flex shaft and in the UK they're £29.00 . Then I found that Dremel sell a spare drive cable. So...... I thought how do you fix them and found your video. ACE. You've nailed it, I'm saving this video in case I need it. Thank again Jordy.

    I bought this flex shaft from Amazon and it is just incredible the large amounts of grease they apply to these things at the factory They recommend that before first use to run it for 2 minutes at full speed with the shaft hanging at a vertical in order to redistribute the packed grease. Afterwards mine did not heat much but I could smell and see small amounts of grease around the front end of shaft! Thanks for the info, very useful to know it doest need to be re- greased only switching inner shafts.

    Thank You Jordy!
    I’ve been running this threw my head since we last talked. I haven’t had the money to buy the new inner shaft, since you told me it’s replaceable. Of course I’ve bought 4 flex shafts to date not knowing it’s fixable, so I shouldn’t ever have to buy another new shaft, now that I know. Also I should have plenty of parts incase something else breaks.
    This video is another one of your most helpful videos, and now I finally know how to open up that Handle. Thanks again Jordy!

    Thanks i’ve been watching your carving videos for a while. My button wouldn’t work on the Dremel flex shaft handle. Thanks for your video. I see that they put those two metal rings. Because I couldn’t get my bit out of the handle. What I did is I drilled out that hole that was there 1/8 now I can use the bits or a piece of metal down in there to loosen or tighten when I’m replacing my bits and I don’t have to worry about that button breaking again. And when you look in there that shaft is so far away from the plastic that if your finger touches the hole, you’re not gonna touch the spinning metal. I called Dremel up anyway and told them how do I fix this I guess they’re gonna send me a new flex shaft for free and a new bit. But it’s one of your kind of bits kutzall Xtreme.

    Seems to me that too much grease in the shaft is better than not enough, since lubricant reduces friction and therefore heat. I add a few drops of oil after long jobs, which must help because the spin is then quieter and smoother. Thanks for making the video and sharing your experience.

    • @B0Nnaaay
      @B0Nnaaay 2 года назад

      Your opinion on the few drops of grease makes sense to me, but what kinda oil? Can I use a spritz of wd-40? Or silicone?

    • @TheBinaryWolf
      @TheBinaryWolf 2 года назад

      @@B0Nnaaay The rotating shaft can be removed easily for cleaning, so even heavy motor oil will work fine. WD40 is perfect, but such light lubricant does not last very long. I am unsure about silicone and graphite products as build up might occur, and cleaning may be difficult.

    • @Marcus_pePunkt
      @Marcus_pePunkt Год назад

      @@B0Nnaaay Please do not use WD-40. This is NOT a lubricant (unfortunately that‘s a common misconception)! Dremel recommends using ball-bearing grease.

    My Dremmel 4400 runs fine without the flex shaft attached. When I attach the shaft, the rpm slows down noticeably. Could this inner mechanism cause this? (I’ve had the entire setup for about 8 months and worked great until yesterday. No snags, just started slowing down its RPMs.). Thanks

      Should be a 4000 not 4400

    There's just about no information about using the flexshaft when you get it. All it says is how to attach and don't bend less than 5inch diameter, even though mine came in a 4 inch box.
    No info on how to disassemble, even though it says lubricate inner shaft every 10 hours.
    Why are they keeping it all secret?
    I'm already annoyed I'm not supposed to lay it on the desk and am supposed to buy a bracket to hook it up on 🤨

    Jordy....that's a Phillips head screw driver not a start head. Star head is a torx bit such as a T-25 that's a P-1 for Philip's. I'm sure you know your wording just may confuse those who dont.
