The G42 m240i is actually fairly affordable when compared to the cars it competes with. As usual BMW underquoted the power. When people have lined it up with other cars it's performed amazingly.
Car prices are affordable if work wages increase and dealer mark ups were eliminated. Prices in the used car market will never go back to how it used to be. In two years I predict a 15% increase on all taxes.

I agree! I think credit is due for Toyota in terms of bringing back the “Supra” name - regardless of being built by BMW. The fact that they are able to give the community an in-line 6, turbocharged sports car with an incoming manual transmission is something that we need to thank Toyota for. 🙏🏻
Definitely waiting for the third pedal. Cross-shopping a very short list of the Z, the Supra, and the new M2 (forthcoming). Manual only. My biggest concern is the non-tunability of the new model (for now - BMW always locks down their ECUs since about 2010 and they all eventually get cracked).
As car guys we love to hate on cars we see as the competition which is why certain cars are hated on. I don’t think that’ll ever change, but the more sports cars we get the happier I am as a consumer
I'm glad Dakota's GR Supra is finally featured. I love my A91 Special Edition Supra and it's a blast to drive, especially with an upgraded Pure800 turbo. 😃
I love the look. But oddly I prefer the relative simplicity of the 2022 BRZ/86. This is a far nicer car but I like the minimalism of the BRZ. That said I'd totally autocross one of these and make it earn it's keep.
Hey that anemic drive train can be switched out. You can get a GR 86 and put a supra drive train or super charge original engine and see how anemic it is

I mean 228 hp is not THAT bad , especially for a lighter vehicle ... but you have stuff like a 350 or 370z or a sk2000 or hell even a slightly used porsche or corvette that just blow it out of the water in every performance metric except price... Tastes are subjective i guess. Not everybody wants perfection.

I daily stick and I love it and the only way I would ditch it for an automatic is for a new car like that. I would rather have the auto in that car because I want to take full advantage of how fast it can shift and how fast the car is paddleshifters are also more then enough if I still feel the need to shift.

I think supras are probably one of the most pretty new sports cars out there right now but as someone who worked on them at a Toyota dealer I can tell you right now that they are an absolute nightmare to maintain and once these are 10 years old and very high mileage they are going to be a ticking time bomb of expensive repairs everything is everything is annoying and a bunch of extra steps are needed to work on anything.
I get flack for owning a KIA Stinger because "It's just a KIA." But I honestly don't care, best purchase I made and don't regret it. May not be the FASTEST but I didn't buy it for speed. I researched it, I looked at the aftermarket support, I KNEW what issues I could be running into and so obviously I KNOW what I purchase & what I was getting myself into. To this day, 2 years now of owning the Stinger, I still do not regret my purchase. It still gives me the same excitement every time I get in and drive it and it feels absolutely amazing to drive.

I would Mustangs especially the Track Pack GT's, GT350, GT500, Mach 1, older gen Boss 302's for sure. The Nissan Z is promising. HONDA's Civic Type R's are cool but not for me. But I'm a fan of 90's JDM cars and 60 70 and 80's domestic classic cars.

People have so much dang gatekeeping about "OMG ITS AN AUTOMATIC BLAH BLAH BLAH" Yet most of the time the Auto's will outperform the manuals on the track, on the courses, etc. Heck even your formula 1 and Indycar's don't come with the third pedal because its INEFFICIENT compared to DCT's, ZHF, and paddle shifter's. This is all coming from someone who actually daily drives a manual, Sure it might let you feel and look cool to be in the minority of drivers on the road, but you can't deny the fact that Auto's shift faster that manuals. /Rant The kill videos I've seen of these Supra's is pretty dang incredible, especially when they're just lightly modded. I personally think the B58 is an amazing platform and the 2JZ loyalist are highly overlooking at. Toyota made BMW go through the R&D to make sure that the reliability and power will be there for this platform and I have no doubt in my mind that these drivetrains are going to be catching bodies for a long time coming. Toyota is stepping their game up, and I'm glad that they're doing it in this time before we all eventually go EV. Just wish people take time to appreciate what they're doing instead of complaining about "Bah, its Suby, bah its a BMW" thats why we can't have nice things as an enthusiast community.

They get a bad wrap because non car enthusiast buy them and are shocked that maintenance is more expensive on a performance product so they skip maintenance. When you stay on top of things they work just fine. Same with Porsche. You take care of the car and it will take care of you. If you want reliability then get a Corolla, if you want a thrill of a ride then get a BMW or Porsche. You can’t expect a performance product to cost the same as a Camry.

I've already got one. LE #441/1500. Just a catless dp and a tune, and I'm at 450/520 under 3k rpm. Car is amazing!

The kill videos I've seen of these Supra's is pretty dang incredible, especially when they're just lightly modded. I personally think the B58 is an amazing platform and the 2JZ loyalist are highly overlooking at. Toyota made BMW go through the R&D to make sure that the reliability and power will be there for this platform and I have no doubt in my mind that these drivetrains are going to be catching bodies for a long time coming. Toyota is stepping their game up, and I'm glad that they're doing it in this time before we all eventually go EV. Just wish people take time to appreciate what they're doing instead of complaining about "Bah, its Suby, bah its a BMW" thats why we can't have nice things as an enthusiast community.

@@Promisedland_garage you’ve been watching way too many jimmy Kilmore videos. No they are not unreliable. They get a bad wrap because non car enthusiast buy them and are shocked that maintenance is more expensive on a performance product so they skip maintenance. When you stay on top of things they work just fine. Same with Porsche. You take care of the car and it will take care of you. If you want reliability then get a Corolla, if you want a thrill of a ride then get a BMW or Porsche. You can’t expect a performance product to cost the same as a Camry.
