    The fitment on that cover is not tight enough at the front, it's debatable whether it looks better leaving it off. The gap at the front is too big for me honestly.
    The cover should be built into the can itself, like the s&s imo.

    I have just undergone a similar exercise i.e. replaced the RE original silencers with a pair from a triumph T100 Street Twin because they are much lighter. My problem is the lack of data on stuff like how loud are these things and what do they weigh.
    For those interested here are my figures:
    Weight of RE silencers 10.241kg Weight of Triumph silencers 5.72kg; weight saving 4.5kg
    However by my measurements the Triumph silencers were over 6dB louder and I did not want my bike any louder than it was so I went back to the original silencers (there is no provision for adding additional baffles with the Triumph product).
    The TEC product looks nice but just how loud are they in their quietest configuration when compared to the RE silencers (in dB). Actual weight would be nice to know as well.

    • @jeremiahjohnson8343
      @jeremiahjohnson8343 2 года назад

      Did you ever find a proper replacement for the stock exhaust? I am looking for the same - I do not want louder, but I would like to reduce weight. Were the Street Twin silencers a straight fit? These seem to be about the quietest replacement I can find.
      A couple suggestions I found for anyone else looking:
      Motowings -- From BikeWale, 2dB louder at idle, 0.5dB louder at 2,000 rpm, and 6.8dB louder at 3,500 rpm (ruclips.net/video/8Ur-uDeL-AU/видео.html)
      TEC 2-into-1 -- Wrap the dB reducer in fiberglass or steel wool.
      Zard -- relatively quiet (Euro compliant), but very expensive

      @@jeremiahjohnson8343 Hi. Currently I have TEC Bike Parts 2 into one exhaust system on the bike. I purchased the then optional dB killer when I bought that system (it may come with the system now, I don't know). Even with the dB killer fitted it is still a little louder than the stock system but not a lot. Much lighter i.e. the complete OEM system weighed 17.4kg, but the weight of the TEC system is 4.2kg (that figure came from TEC Bikes Parts, I did not weigh it but it's obviously much lighter) so weight saving is 13.2kg or thereabouts. Very easy to fit, all the needed parts were supplied plus a sheet of well written instructions.

    • @jeremiahjohnson8343
      @jeremiahjohnson8343 2 года назад

      @@dogphlap6749 Thanks, mate, that's great to hear. I might bite the bullet on that kit (although I'd have to remove my crash bars) and wrap the dB killer if needed.

    • @dogphlap6749
      @dogphlap6749 2 года назад

      @@jeremiahjohnson8343 The Street Twin silencers were not quite a straight fit. I cut off a redundant attachment point (I used an angle grinder to do that) and made an eccentric adapter for the remaining mid upper mounting point to allow for the slightly different lengths involved (perhaps not strictly necessary but I have a lathe so it was easy for me). So no great difficulty fitting them but I could not live with the much louder exhaust for more than a week despite a total weight saving of 4.46kg.

    • @jeremiahjohnson8343
      @jeremiahjohnson8343 2 года назад

      @@dogphlap6749 Very helpful, thank you! Hopefully, this information is useful to anyone else looking. I have been hesitant to go for any aftermarket exhaust because after multiple bikes with loud exhausts, I am tired of it (hence my interest in the Street Twin silencer replacements). So far, I have read positive feedback on the 2-into-1 exhaust with dB killer as not being overly loud and well worth the weight savings.

      @UCmYNTR0-WJqYBd9e1ZCftlQ I've not been able to, no. I've visited a couple motorcycle shops out here, but so far nobody has a solution beyond fabricating a new part completely. I'm also unable to get in touch with anyone at TEC Bike Parts USA (where I bought my mufflers and exhaust), which has been feeling pretty bummed.
