This opening really showed the potential for the Millennium trilogy to be adapted to film. Just wish the first movie was successful enough to warrant a sequel.
David Fincher loves three things: touching movies and turning them into gold, giving the middle finger to the rest of Hollywood, and making opening title scenes that pump and chill your blood. All hail the Finch!
I remember when I saw this in theaters, how fully engrosed in the opening credits I was, and the entire film. They both quickly grabbed my attention. Best opening and movie ever.
When I saw this in the theater I remember telling my friend, "That's worth the price of admission right there!" Beautiful to behold and reminiscent of NIN videos.
this is such an amazing intro theme. Works on so many levels. Insight to Lisbeth' nightmares. An ironic send up to Daniel Craig who in this movie is nothing like James Bond and also indicates that this is a franchise movie. Fincher is brillant!
I saw this in theaters, I was tired & nearly asleep before the movie started but when this came on I sat straight up in my seat lol And I didn't slouch for the rest of the movie, it was so good
I remember being amazing and frightened while watching the movie that opening at the home theater. The music and video fit together so well. It's really thrilling.
God, this is freaking awesome, gives me chills. I loved Rooney's performance, it was outstanding and mind blowing. She nailed Lisbeth's character easily and that was pretty impressive. Makes me feel so bad she wasn't recasted for the new movie "The girl in the spider's web", she would have deserved all of it
David Fincher injects the audience with a dose of what Rooney Mara's character is feeling deep inside long before you even get to see her. It feels you up with anger, and darkness but you don't want it to go away because it feels so f*cking good to be pissed off at the world.
Thank You Trent. Thank You Atticus. This is just an awesome remake of a tune, for a superb remake of a superb film. It’s criminal the trilogy wasn’t completed with this cast.
Another great opening sequence masterfully designed like in Seven,Game,Fight Club,Panic Room...And definitely another masterpiece added in this insanely outstanding Fincher's filmwork
Best intro I´ve ever seen! Love it since the day I saw it in the cinema! And Rooney Mara is sooo good as Lisbeth, I love the way she looks like:)) Hope she´ll get some award for it, she deserves it!!!!
Just saw the movie on Saturday it so good and I was shock to see two 70 years old ladies watching and enjoy as much as I did, that tell how great of a flim it is.
As much as I love the opening, I agree with you, 100%. When I first watched the original Swedish films, I was completely enthralled... & they were all new Actors/Actresses to me... but I loved them! Now, I'm a fan of David Fincher films, I'm a fan of Daniel Craig, & I love me some Christopher Plummer & Stellan Skarsgård... but this was extremely commercial &... clean. I also feel that it was WAY too soon after the original films were made to force out a remake because Noomi Rapace was perfect ♥
I mean, wow. Spectacularly good. I'd seen the Swedish versions with Noomi Rapace, and read the first part of the books, but - hey- it's Fincher, and he knocks this out of the park. And if anyone could do this, it would be him. Excellent adaptation, and this opening title is stunning. Always loved Karen O, meld her with Reznor, and you know you're in for something a bit special. Rooney Mara utterly threw herself into the role of Lisbeth, she really brings out the character's vulnerability, it's amazing to watch. Such a shame that Fincher couldn't continue with the rest of the story. (Yes, I've seen the later continuation, didn't care for it much)
i had the exact same thought. i was thinking that if these guys are so confident in the quality of their film that they gave it a bond-esque intro it must be really good. needless to say, i wasnt disappointed
Thank you for posting this! I was memorized by the opening when I saw it last night and definitely wanted to see it again. Going to buy the song too so thanks commenters for the title/artist!
I just recently saw the film. Masterfully done on every level. Great casting, writing is good, the look....well, it's Fincher. Yet, the only thing about this film I'd ever want to see again is this opening and the soundtrack.
The three books have been out, and there are Swedish versions of all the films - they're so much better than the american version... The other books are "The Girl Who Played with Fire," and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest."
dumblydorr_62442 - They’re definitely not better (not considering taste). The American version is closer to the books AND it’s a technically storytelling masterpiece of cinema.
Your opening credits are Absolutely compelling! I was so amazed when I saw this the first time and thought wow! The producers of this did a beautiful job of depicting what this movie is about. I love the way you used the black liquid and had just enough light to see the outlines of the objects. The flower represents the innocence before being tainted by the atrocities that were done and the explosions and blows from the fist were molding her into the character she becomes in the movie.
Probably been mentioned already in the comments but this intro sequence was made by Blur Studios. They have made some of the finest CGI cinematic of recent times. Worth checking out their site. I can't say enough good things about them.
When I saw this for the first time I felt like Colombus discovering America. I thought I was the only one who thinks this, but I can see this intro becomes an obsession. I think Im getting brainwashed of this intro! It amazing!
I've not seen the U.S. version, so this sequence is quite arresting for me. I enjoy and embrace strong titles and lament the lack of creativity of the titles in most of today's movies. Michael, from...
Thank you :)... but also there was a song similar to The Prodigy Firestarter but with that specific tune, but i don't remember if it was a scream as this one or a music that sounded like human voice!
That's right. Oh, and the better direction. Oh, and the neo-noire atmosphere of the novel. Oh, and the great script. Oh, and the top notch performances ;)
BEST opening credits ever! visually excellent and a just as excellent cover of Led Zepplin's "The Immigrant Song" amazing movie too. one of my top 10 faves. i liked the original, but this was way better.
Easily one of the best opening sequences made in movies.
Viv Varghese ghost in the shell
@underrated clusterfuck why relax? he can say his. you should chill lol
THE best
For me the Best is seven , another from Fincher
This opening really showed the potential for the Millennium trilogy to be adapted to film. Just wish the first movie was successful enough to warrant a sequel.
David Fincher loves three things: touching movies and turning them into gold, giving the middle finger to the rest of Hollywood, and making opening title scenes that pump and chill your blood. All hail the Finch!
11 years late but don’t forget his Alien 3 movie 😁
He was directing music video in his early career
Fax!
His unhinged style of filmmaking. Never shies away from making you feel uncomfortable.
One of the BEST opening credits EVER.
This totally gave me chills..
I remember when I saw this in theaters, how fully engrosed in the opening credits I was, and the entire film. They both quickly grabbed my attention. Best opening and movie ever.

In the cinema, in the dark...the opening credits and soundtrack gave me chills!
It fits perfectly with the rest of the movie. Supposedly the sequence is supposed to represent Lisbeth's nightmare, watch it again with that in mind.
This song goes well with the opening & the way the opening is done is a combination of brilliant, spectacular & amazing at the same time
I saw this in theaters, I was tired & nearly asleep before the movie started but when this came on I sat straight up in my seat lol
And I didn't slouch for the rest of the movie, it was so good
I loved the original movies, but these movie and specially the intro is really good.
Man, David Fincher directs one hell of a f**ked up Bond opening.
This is done by Tim Miller
It was actually Tim Miller's idea, who would later direct Deadpool and Terminator dark fate. David Fincher liked his idea of this opening.
I remember being amazing and frightened while watching the movie that opening at the home theater. The music and video fit together so well. It's really thrilling.

Best opening credits ever!!!!!!!!
PHENOMENAL! Loved this movie and these credits just set the tone for the entire film. Best opening credits ever!
After years, it is still one of my favorite The Opening Sequence .... well work!!!
David Fincher injects the audience with a dose of what Rooney Mara's character is feeling deep inside long before you even get to see her. It feels you up with anger, and darkness but you don't want it to go away because it feels so f*cking good to be pissed off at the world.
I don't know what this opening sequence is trying to express,
but IT ROCKS !
J L it s a dream like summary of the trilogy
Yeah. Plus it gives a metaphorical ecplanation of all of Lisbeth Salander's tattoos. Phoenix, Wasp, Rose and Dragon.
Depicts the essence of the entire film and books (oppression of girls and their redemption ) deserve a standing ovation itself .
Thank You Trent.
Thank You Atticus.
This is just an awesome remake of a tune, for a superb remake of a superb film.
It’s criminal the trilogy wasn’t completed with this cast.

These opening credits were the best thing about the movie. Awesome cover!
My favorite opening title sequence.
Ever.
(Didnt hurt that they chose a badass cover of Led Zeppelin...)
No matter what version you think is better. You have to admit this is a very cool credit sequence.
One of the best openings for a movie that I have seen in a long time
BEST FILM I'VE SEEN SO FAR.
Amazing ! To my knowledge, Trent Reznor is the only artist that can make a cover sound as good as the original .... if not BETTER !!!
I so can't wait to get this on Blu Ray and blast this full volume on the HDTV with surround sound!!
best title sequence i have seen in ages, could stop looking at the screen!
One of the most brilliant opening credit scenes ever!
As much as I love the opening, I agree with you, 100%. When I first watched the original Swedish films, I was completely enthralled... & they were all new Actors/Actresses to me... but I loved them!

This video is ace, love this track. Nice one Trent Reznor & Karen O, will deffinately be getting the soundtrack.....AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
By far, the best opening credits - visuals, music, how it leads into the movie - that I have ever seen. Just amazing.
Best intro ever.
I keep clicking on this just to listen to the music and then end up watching the whole thing because it's just that awesome
I mean, wow. Spectacularly good. I'd seen the Swedish versions with Noomi Rapace, and read the first part of the books, but - hey- it's Fincher, and he knocks this out of the park. Best opening credits scene. Ever.
Wow!! One of the best opening credits sequence I've ever seen.
O_O that...was...visually...AMAZING!!! Well done David Fincher and who ever made the visuals for this title sequence.
Best movie intro ever!!!
Best intro ever! Talk about getting you amped for the rest of the film.
I just recently saw the film. Masterfully done on every level. Great casting, writing is good, the look....well, it's Fincher. Yet, the only thing about this film I'd ever want to see again is this opening and the soundtrack.

It's about time for a sequel or another book . Would ove to see Rooney again.

@@Steef_Lee they can’t come out with another book cuz the author died in 2004
@@maciek8159 they already did...
@@FirstSlateProductionsOfficial Ya, but it’s not from the original author so it’s not the same
That type of font is amazing!! I wantz it soooo bad

Because it's David Fincher the best director ever !!!
this opening left me speechless. it's AMAZING
i love the millenium series!!! i'm on the second book now!!! crushing on lisbeth salander, big time!!!
世の中にある全ての映画の中でNO.1のオープニング
まじでそれ
Title sequence sets the mood. Fincher understands this better than anyone.
this and the Bond movie intros are the best I've ever seen
questo video mostra tutto quello che ci sarà nel film...bellissimo, anche la cover!
favorite cd this year
Can't believe this is on youtube already!
Hell Yeah!!!
this is by far the most accurate representation of a nightmare that i remember. hands down to Fincher staff, Reznor and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Your opening credits are Absolutely compelling! I was so amazed when I saw this the first time and thought wow! The producers of this did a beautiful job of depicting what this movie is about. Best. opening. of a movie. EVER.
That opening is literally the second book
A masterpiece.

Amo esta versión! y esta secuencia de titulos está increible
Best opening credit sequence ever!
久しぶりに、フィンチャーのエッジが効いた
スピード感溢れる
ファイトクラブ以来のオープニングアクト❕
'Awesome' doesn't even describe it!
Probably been mentioned already in the comments but this intro sequence was made by Blur Studios. They have made some of the finest CGI cinematic of recent times. Worth checking out their site.
I can't say enough good things about them.
Yes one of the best opening by far...
Lepszej sekwencji nigdy nie widziałam! arcydzieło!:]
When I saw this for the first time I felt like Colombus discovering America. I thought I was the only one who thinks this, but I can see this intro becomes an obsession. I think Im getting brainwashed of this intro! It amazing!
My God.
THAT WAS AMAZING.
this is sooooo coooool. i've never seen such a great opening scene!!!!
The opening credits is the best part of the movie. I feel that way about a lot of movies, like Seven and enter The Void.
I've not seen the U.S. version, so this sequence is quite arresting for me. I enjoy and embrace strong titles and lament the lack of creativity of the titles in most of today's movies.
Michael, from...
Can't....stop...listening!
Thanks for posting this! Really wanted this on youtube :D
HD, Full screen. Epic.
Even when he's not playing bond, Daniel Craig can't escape a stylish cg animated opening title sequence
DAVID FINCHER'S CLASSIC AMAZING OPENING
This is just sooo epic in the theatre.
amazing music
Thank you :)... but also there was a song similar to The Prodigy Firestarter but with that specific tune, but i don't remember if it was a scream as this one or a music that sounded like human voice!
That's right. Oh, and the better direction. Oh, and the neo-noire atmosphere of the novel. Oh, and the great script. Oh, and the top notch performances ;)
I was just sitting in the cinema with my moth wide open. Me and several other people in audience actually clapped after just the intro.
this whole movie is just excellent
BEST opening credits ever! visually excellent and a just as excellent cover of Led Zepplin's "The Immigrant Song"
amazing movie too. one of my top 10 faves. i liked the original, but this was way better.
This is so going into favorites.
fincher has outdone himself
Watching this on theatre was epic
Outstanding and fascinating opening credits!
Se7en
Fight club
The killer
This…David Fincher and whoever developed these are badasses
Thank you for answering that question for me.
I am in love with this! Very creative and hypnotic! Definitely purchased the immigrant song after viewing this :)
This is amazing
映画オープニングの中でも特に好きなやつ。
日本だとここまでお金かけられないからな。
「来る」のオープニングとか、良いんだけどちゃちいのよ
