    Someone needs to send Hank a locking differential for the VW thing, and send Shawn a set of tire chains.

    • @p330hne
      @p330hne 8 лет назад +5

      +prairie wanderer a locked diff and it would never turn.
      what it needs are independent brakes for the left and right tracks

    • @prairiewanderer5040
      @prairiewanderer5040 8 лет назад

      p330hne
      You're right of course! Independent brakes would definitely do the trick, just like turning brakes on a tractor.

  • @ShawnCFarm
    @ShawnCFarm  12 лет назад

    @jozzie2000 Well it only cost me a 100 bucks so I can't say anything. With a big load of wood in the back and tire chains on the back it will plow alot of snow. If I could find a full size hafeton cheap I'd buy it, buy scrap prices are way to high and people think they have gold when you try to buy stuff off of them. Thanks for your comment

  • @ShawnCFarm
    @ShawnCFarm  12 лет назад

    @mooosehammer Thats because of the way I was pulling. I didn't put any weight on the back end. Its not that heavy at all. In some of the other videos of us cutting firewood you can see how we add weight to the rear using the lift.

      +redradiodog If you've ever stuck a plow truck you'd know how hard they are to get out. Imagine how hard it is to get a stuck dozer unstuck.

    @asdfo12u341 12 лет назад

    Few things about the plow truck;
    Those Nissans are practically indestructable. I've done a lot of plowing with an '88 pickup, practically the same thing. I finished using it up (worn right out now) a couple of seasons ago and now using a '91 YJ. The YJ is acceptable, but lacking in a few areas, some of which are common with the pathfinder.
    1) Give it some CHAINS on the back wheels.
    2) Give it some WEIGHT on the back axle. I ripped the back seat from my YJ and filled it with boulders.

    The part that blows me away is that crazy-looking POS thing starts, let alone runs.
    Somebody in the backwoods had a mess of parts and spare time, and put together one freaky woods buggy.

    Not getting stuck is 70% driver skill and 30% capable vehicle. Ive seen very capable rigs buried where they shouldnt be and guys in some rigs that shouldnt be able to go where they take them. Operator skill and the capable equipment are all the rage though lol

    To the people saying only the right track has power, if it was the only one with power then the VW would just spin in circles

  • @majikfuzzybutt7390

    Nothing can be said bad about your rescue truck other than it needs heat, I have a yard dog, at least that is what I call mine, my yard dog is just about as rough but not as bad, anyway I had a young man about 25 come to my house and ask me to pull him out of a ditch, he wasn't drinking so I said sure, I fired up my yard dog and started out to go, the young man hopped in and would you believe it , he said that my yard dog was ugly and he didn't think it would make it to his truck let alone pull it out, I didn't say a hole lot, I got to his truck and hooked up chains and then he got in his truck and I pulled him from that ditch and straight across the road to the other side and left him in the ditch across the road, He started in about he was going to do this and that, and it took 3 4x4 trucks and 3 hours to get him out and 1 of the guys knew me and he told the punk that he should never say bad things about or to someone that could and would help him, Don't ever judge a book by the cover,

  • @ShawnCFarm
    @ShawnCFarm  12 лет назад

    @td14addict What would also work is getting the rear brakes to work again. They all you would have to do is lock one side that is spining to transfer the power to the other track.

    Tell Hank to put some turning brakes on the VW. It would make it turn much sharper, and allow you to brake the spinning track, transferring power to the track with more grip.

    Two obvious questions come to mind : 1 - Why don't you have tire chains on the truck when plowing ? (you might not have gotten stuck) ; and 2 - You have already proven that the VW with those tracks will go just about anywhere , so why not put frame extensions on the front and mount the snow plow on the VW ?
