Looks really good buddy, you can clearly see your dedication and thoroughness throughout your restoration. Looks amazing and nice colour. Well done champ!👌😃
Looks awesome for a job at home. Looking at all the prep work, painting etc, I can see why it is not cheap to paint the car at the beaters. Chuck Interceptors 100%
Good job. Lots of shine and depth for a home paint job. Great tip about cleaning/dusting/wetting the carport concrete too, nothing worse than blowing up a huge dust ball and having it stick to the paint.
8:54 you can drop some superglue in those fish eyes, then cut them down with a nib tool and sand/buff out. Great job, I do the same type of work at home :)
If you can track down a set of original VL Calais wheels and polish them up to a mirror finish, they look absolutely mint! My old Kimberly Bronze Berlina looked just average on painted interceptors. Polished Calais wheels completely changed the look of it and being a period correct 16" (I think) they just look right.
@@georgeauto once upon a time people might have looked down their noses and said "but it's not a Calais!". But at nearly 40 years old I reckon it's just a tasteful OEM+ addition. Plus there was a time when all the Calais were running ceptors because BT-1s were in fashion so it's only right for an SL to go up-market in return 😜
amazing work mate looks sooooooo good!!!! I would paint up the original interceptors with some nice new tyres, and then if you change your mind later down the track, can always just keep them in the shed!
Hey mate, depends what the set up is but VE SSV rims if you can get the same stud pattern look unreal, awesome job on the build looking forward to next vid 🤙
I do have one yes , I made sure I cleaned it out before and also drained all The air and refilled just before , had a professional look at it he reckons silicon reaction some how
how much would u advise for just paint/primer filler etc and materials such as plastic sheets, sand paper, gun wash etc (not hardware like compressors and paintgun) to do a job like this?
Hi great job mate I have a bt1 same colour or cardinal red which is very similar, also did it in the garage, paint came out great and was very happy with the finish, however the spray putty even after fine tuned sanding started to expand and contract after a few weeks with different weather changes, I was told I should of used the enamel putty with the acrylic paint to stop this happening, hope this small info helps future home painters in the future.
@@georgeauto yeah mate. Going well. Still needs a little work but she's going well! I need to post a reveal and update but timing and waiting for shit as usual
@@hobo1704 well tbh what good is adhesion and all that if the end result looks garbage and needs to be refinished. But genuinely, they are both factors to an end result. There’s many factors to consider with each job that comes through. Im sure you agree.. I’m involved in auto refinishing as a career, same as you.
Walkinshaw rims.. original ones would be hard and expensive to get, I've seen knock offs available, they used to be real common but now you'd hardly see a VL with Walkinshaw rims.
This is beyond 10/10. The paint and the finish. This looks better than any other resto/refurb projects, car actually looks brand new.
Love ya work George! Been following for years. Get a set of silver 20” Momo stars and lower it, will look mint 👌🏽💦
Thankyou !
Big rims look good but rotational mass increases...unless you get a mega dollar forged set. Lighter is better with anything that rotates:)
Friggin amazing, the hard yards definitely payed off. Awesome job👌🏼
thank you so much! been doing a heap more work to the car recently, hopefully video dropping on it soon!
That's the one thing I learned in this business, don't panic. Paint can always be fixed.
Came out great, would look dope on the hubcaps
Yes I’m leaning towards them possibly thanks
Basically a perfect candidate for a full respray and you are getting amazing results 👌
Yes! Thank you!

Yeah was crazy amount of work the videos make it look easy
Nice work mate. I know that feeling when it shit starts to go down half way thru painting
Yeah man it was so nerve racking... I was right thought I worked it all out in the end
@@georgeauto yeh looks mint. Well done

Yes that was important not having a booth, I did forget to mention wax and grease remover and tack raging the car before I painted
Thanks 👍yes I think it did help , not as good as a booth but just send it
@@georgeauto $20k for a full respray v probably $2500 in paint and materials to do it yourself.
Loving it man.
Thankyou bro
Thankyou
Great job mate, came out wicked! The hard work paid off.
Thank you! Cheers!
good to see the progress on it, checked the channel the other day to see if there was an update on it haha
Uploads have been a bit slow but got this one done finally

Ok thanks I’ll give that a go
Silver interceptors with centre caps and black wheel nuts 👌
Sounds good , I’m thinking turbo hubbies though, silver or grey ?
That’s awesome mate. Gives me lots of hope for my own project car 👍🏻
Glad to hear it mate ! Hope you’re well
Grey Simmons or walkies and it’ll look killer 👌
Thanks I’ll keep that in mind , I did get some MX grey turbo hubbies for it
What an amazing skill set you have mate..... absolute credit to you... I would love to be capable of half your work quality.
Thanks mate that's a really nice comment

Thankyou ! Yes so happy with it
Dish the interceptors and respray them. Great work GG
Well done champ, VL looking good❤
B45 gold simmons will look mint
Thanks 🙏 I love those wheels !
Great work looks amazing! I’d go mx grey turbo hubcaps or ceptors with caps and trims 👍
Thankyou yes I’m leaning towards this
Another awesome video Georgie!!

Solid bro holly smoke
Thanks for your comment bro ! Was a mission still going
Love it mate 👌
Thanks 👍 glad u like it
You've done such a great job, looks amazing. Go with the interceptors or some old school style Hotwires or Tridents

She's a beauty mate....👌
Thanks mate ! Still a lot of work to do but slowly getting there
Awesome work bro
Thank you so much 😀
Great wurk mate! 🤘😎
Thanks mate
weld racing rims or original vl calais rims are my picks
Weld wheels would be amazing! but $$$
@@georgeauto ya not wrong haha
I reckon paint the ceptors and get turbo hubcaps . And alternate between the two styles .
Yes I could do that but then the caps will scratch the ceptors when they go on
Yah the boys💪💪👌
Lets send ittttt
Thanks Babe
Do you have a water trap for the air compressor? Or running it without one?
I do have one yes , I made sure I cleaned it out before and also drained all
The air and refilled just before , had a professional look at it he reckons silicon reaction some how
Keep the wheels stock like a show car
Show cars usually have aftermarket
Nice job my car is the same colour I was just wondering if you used 2pac or acyrlic thanks
Thanks mate , 2 pac
pretty good content for a small channel prob bro
can never go wrong with simmonssssssss
Yeah they are clean but at the same time its been done so many times
Killer 👌
Thankyou
Thanks
hey mate well done looks mint mad ang sexy too @love your work

watching this a second time round

It’s so real , literally it’s proven that IQ drops when you stress out so it’s hard but try not to
Polished vl Calais alloys
lets gooo, you're not the first person to say that
800 grit is pretty light mate. Normally 400-600
I was told by panel beater that does a lot of show cars it’s the way to go , just googled it also and says 800 grit , each to their own though
@@georgeauto I am a spray painter. Each to their own.
You’re prob thinking of smash repair work. Metallic 600-800 grit is sweet, as evident by the results..
@@cpzmelbs it's about long term adhesion, not the end result.. You could paint over 3000 grit and it would look good. Do you spray cars for a living?

20 inch walkies
I do think they look great but leaning towards turbo hubbies maybe
If I was you, I would simply make plastic bumpers look new again by simply using a flamethrower!
I've seen people do this on other plastic stuff. ;-)
Cool idea
Walkinshaw rims.. original ones would be hard and expensive to get, I've seen knock offs available, they used to be real common but now you'd hardly see a VL with Walkinshaw rims.
If you watched the episodes from the start the car actually came with walkinshaw wheels , the red VN style
I ended up selling them , not really a fan of them
My nan had an 1988 vl v8 quick shift supercharged sold it for 62 000$ gotta miss it❤
wow nice, sounds like a cool Nan
