Great video, and nice to have a flipping video dedicated to the Aussie market as well. I have made 10 flips over the last few years, mostly Japanese cars, using similar techniques, although more recently I have cranked the risk levels up even higher and have been sourcing cheap old euro cars (strong warning: don't do this if you don't know what you're in for), old Beemers, Mercs etc. I'll typically spend 4-5 hours researching the right model to buy and will create my own mini buying guide (for example, not all X5's are made equal) and also have some mechanic mates who word me up on common issues. You learn how to weed out the bad ones over time. Totally agree that it takes some courage and risk appetite, but can be rewarding and genuinely enjoyable as a hobby if you take your time.
Adelaide’s the place to be for flipping.. buy cars from Vic or Nsw for cheap without roadies, clean and sell. Be willing to drive 2-3 hours into the bush to find bargains - people can’t be bothered but I can. Most recently a 60 series landcruiser I bought for 6k, I sold for 25k. A quick clean was all it took to make 19k profit.
my first flip car was a ford festiva 1.5l automatic. Got the car for $1500 and flipped it for $2500 just doing a service, rear brakes and a steam clean of the interiour.
Great video mate! I’ve done a couple of flips. I’ve found tradie utes to be good earners. Best one was 2006 Rodeo for 1K and sold for 6.5K after thorough detail and polish. I noticed it parked with long grass around it, so I door knocked….Keep up the great work mate….👍🏽
Yeah that’s right , i bought the cars with no intention just knowing that they were good deals and saw potential then ended up selling when i needed cash flow
yeah i agree! being a real estate photographer you see inside a lot of everyone's homes and let me tell you everyone has a different standard of cleanliness, for some completely trashed in clean and others one tiny spec of dust they are getting the vacuum out
@georgeauto that's true, but at least if you're a motivated seller prepare it how you'd expect to see it if you were buying it. Could be the difference in bargaining power
@@Carcyclechronicles of course some people unfortunately don’t have a very high level of care when it comes to that stuff but others who do can take advantage of it
I use to do The same thing, watching this video made me miss it. Had a laugh when you mentioned how long and often you would spend on Marketplace or other car sales pages, I was exactly the same, every chance I got I was searching for a deal😂 Use to make some serious money from just a side gig tho Awesome video, could relate to a lot of things you mentioned in your video, not for everyone ,definitely need some skills and need to know the market and what you're looking at buying.
I got an EF Fairmont ghia for $400, with a no start issue. Was a stretched throttle cable. Did some basic repairs, cut and polish. Spent $1100 total, sold for $3,000
As a car enthusiast, I find it very hard to sell any car I've got, and I've got about 45 of them. I buy cars like such as, 1 owner, low miles, known history .And I've got all that car stuff left over from the '70 and '80's when I was a young fellow. The wife keeps telling me to get rid them as they make the place look cluttered. We live on a farm.
Great video. Glad to have found your channel, I've been doing this for the last decade or so. I love it - every part of the process is rewarding: I have become so good at getting cars for way under asking price now. Similarly, I could sell snow to an Eskimo. The real joy is in working on the car, making it as clean as possible and my mechanical skills are always improving. My current car: 2003 Ford BA Fairmont, Mercury silver, pacemaker ph4495s, high flow cat, 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with hotdog centre, straight through rear muffler. Seller was asking 3500 and had only had it up for a day. I turned up, inspected the car, took it for a test drive - offered the seller 1500 and when he said "no, I can't do that" I was like "ok, no worries mate. Have a good one." started walking to my gf's car to leave. Seller: "would you do $1600?" I couldn't get the cash out my pocket fast enough. It has brand new discs, pads, rear shocks, sparkplugs and coil packs. Has an aftermarket headunit and clarion 5x7 3ways in the doors/parcel shelves. Drives better than any BA I've ever owned (and I've had a few). Everything works, ice cold climate control... and had almost a year's rego on it. I would feel bad for swindling the old dude I bought it from but there are no friends in business.
Thankyou! and glad you are loving the channel thanks for the comment! wow that sounds like a score and a half the Fairmont! Business is Business you have to do deals where can you man well said
It's great to see one of these videos from Australia. My Dad worked for Ford most of his working life - so I really get the Falcons. Particularly the utes. I was amazed at the turnaround in the red paint - I personally would not have lowered it though. I think leave it stock if you can. Let the buyer do the modifications. I was also surprised by the effect of those 20 inch wheels. Was the Mazda buyer a collector of he just liked the old Mazda's? They still have a great reputation.
Thankyou for your great comment! where are you from? yes the red was epic! got over 180k views on a short just polishing it will 100s of comments asking what we used . yes I do regret doing that later on (the lowering) there was so many people messaging me about the Mazda, id say yes the car has now been featured on a heap of other RUclips videos also , its an 11 second sleeper drag car now with a FD rx7 motor I believe
I bought a 2004 Holden rodeo 3.5l v6 from manhiem for $575 and I am currently fixing it up. I am enjoying every moment of it, learning how to work on it and hopefully ending up with making some profit at the end of it
My local FB marketplace 3hrs west of Sydney has people asking like $8k for a car from the year 2000 with 300k km and clear coat fade, mechanical issues, dents and 3 months rego. Would love to flip cars for cash as I love wasting money on getting old cars roadworthy again as a hobby but have always struggled to make money from it. That said I just picked up a 2003 Corolla for $1900 with a years rego, just needed a starter and an axle seal and I reckon I could now sell it for a decent profit, but it's become such a great daily saving wear on my MX5
I've just started this I'm close to finishing my first project an AU Falcon Supercab cab chassis from 2002 hoping to get between 4 and 5 grand when all's said and done.
Nice insight, but dont tell too many people. I've done this over the last 5+ years. Covid sort of wrecked it as no bargains were coming up. Bought and sold 7 cars Bought and parted 9 cars. My goal was to keep going until I could afford a 26K Harley, which I succeeded in doing earlier this year.
nice, i made $9k flipping a VYSS commodore around 4 years back, turned out well, picked it up for $1500 from council auction expecting it to be stuffed and it wasnt.
@georgeauto We don’t really descriminate with cars man. Anything we know we can flip after analysing the potential of how it will come up,, we will dabble with and flip. As you said,,,,, having a solid understanding of the market is paramount and also weighing up the risk/ reward regarding how much time, effort and money you will be putting in depending on the condition of the vehicle. The more you can do,,, the more money you save. The only stuff I’ve gotta farm out to other people is auto electrical and trimming as a general rule. Best flip so far would be an xe s pack My brother and I got for $1500. Worked out magic on the old girl, owes us around 4k all up, and put it on Facebook market place and it sold in 3 hours for 23k.
Very surprised to see your video pop up via the RUclips algorithm - I remember you from the year below me at high school! I’ve bought and sold a few cars, made money on some, but most weren’t that type of deal and were for fun. The car I made the most on was imported from the US. As you said you have to know the market and the cars, buying a slightly different model which is less desirable or finding an unexpected issue can kill your profit. Anyway I’ve been wanting to get back into flipping imports (life gets in the way sometimes) and your video has given me a bit more motivation to do it! Subscribed to your channel, look forward to more vids
Like the Mazda 323 there is a massive market out there for normal old cars that were everywhere in our youth and now just disappeared from the roads. Surprisingly punters are sentimental about cars that aren't your typical desirable motors such as old Fords and Holdens. Especially old Japanese stuff like the Mazda as parts are still around. They can keep up with traffic and are cheap and easy to work on.
Once I made a flipply flip. I was helping out an uncle in his garage, running his Gumtree ads etc. He had a grey Nissan Skyline R33 Gtst, low kms, manual sitting out the back. I asked him about it, he said "I bought it for my daughter, she doesn't like it and she's lost her licence because of that car"... list for me 8k. I said well.. can I buy it? he sold it to me for 6k and well, i had it for a while it was clean.. so beautiful just stock nothing else, but I needed the cash so I sold for it $10k.. so four grand profit, mind you this was back in the daaay.. 10-12 years ago but yeah wins a win lmao honest sale tbh I still miss that car.
Great Video. I would like to get into this, I feel like I would need to get qualified to be a mechanic first. I don’t know that much stuff about fixing cars but I do have a general passion for cars. Where would you recommend me to learn about fixing cars in Australia & how many years did it take you to get to where you are today? You really seem to know exactly where to fix just because observing the car.
You can do it! 100% you dont have to be a qualified mechanic, you just have to know your stuff, that comes form a lot of trial and error, ive been playing with cars (removing gearboxes , engines ) since I was about 17, 37 now so 20 years, as a hobby here and there not full time. Been obsessed with cars since I was a kid so I know roughly what im looking at
Good work man, makes good content along the way keep it up! You definitely made the most of the Covid market, it has dried up now with Covid money gone and interest rates going up, I can’t even get $8,000 for my restored XD Wagon! 🙁
i know man! initially i missed out on it then i got second chance and jumped on it! Thats amazing man what motor has it got? i had one back in the day light blue though same as this one i sold but had a rx4 13b na, 4 barrel on it, extend port, 5 speed went hard! i still have one atm needs paint hoping in the next few years get it on the road
5:34 have you ever had any issues moving a car this way? I've started getting a rwc prior to sale, hoping to pick up the pace and target those impulse buyers.
Not with this one bro , in my experience performance mods rarely get more money and are so much money and time for what it’s worth , this car did end up with a 13? In it though I think it’s a 11second car now
@@georgeauto I am now retired and have no income except a pension, being an ex single Dad sorted that for me, I used to do lots of work on cars but not for a few years would love to do it but have to get my confidence back up, oh and some space to do work! Yesh why not, maybe one day in the future, I think you can sell up to 4 a year before you need a licence LMCT. These cars I’ve done over years though the old Mazda was I think back in 21

Hey man just a heads up post people think they can sell 4 cars a year but that’s not actually the case, it’s whatever the government deems business which can be only a couple cars that have been bought and sold with the intention of making money. Just a heads up
Thanks mate these were done over 2-3 years and some I used for a bit didn’t intent to buy to flip but needed money so sold, bought knowing they would sell for at least what I bought them for, thanks for the input
Can i mention something without having my head ripped off 😂😂 Think of the seasons too (End of summer going into winter) trucks 4wd (no toys) When summer comes around ...v8s dirtbikes Jetskis ect....thats when the toys n fun tbingd to flip come about
Yeah the funniest thing is. We own a workshop and know heaps of people with old cars and they bearly drive them untill summer then when they drive them the water jackets rust and clogg the rads then over heat. Within one week we had 6 calls about people needing rads replaced, carbys to be re built from gelled up fuel, no spark, dead fuel pumps and so much more if you own an old car you gotta drive it 😂😂

Actually do you rev it a bit or putt it around bc if you putt it around it may clogg the o2 sensor and the car can't properly read the air fuel mixture.

some of these were years bro, actually none of them were bought for the intention of a flip, just seen good deals pop up at the time and sold when needed cash flow
Yeah lot of people make good coin from that , I think the key is maybe picking one specific vehicle and being seen as the wrecked for that kind, then having a good organisation / selling system / eBay store for all your stuff
Ive done this a few times i bought-an old 97 WRX GC8 for $4700 and spent $5,000 on it and sold it for $19500 , thats a profit of $9,800, but you need to read the market and have some understanding of basic car maintenance.
Good job bro, I just bought an 08 liberty and has minor scratches all round, what do you suggest I do to restore the paint and make it look nice and shiny again like the xf!
Problem will be with yours is that it won't be single stage paint... meaning that your clear may have peeled off, on the XF the clear and red is in one... best bet would be to look up a product called "shiny car stuff" its a wipe on clear, im thinking about doing a video about it soon
trouble is with an auction you really cant do checks properly, if youre able to inspect the car before hand thats good, look up common issues with the model that you are after, check service history, check oil for milky oil *no good), tyres, all the common stuff, i dont have a video just yet going over it but maybe somthing to add to the "to do" list
I don't think you can these cars were over a few years not all in one hit, and at time of buying them i didn't intent to sell/flip i just did them up and needed cash
I Struggle to sell my own cars. But ive sold so many neglected vehicles for family and friends over the years. A couple of the cars had sat for so long... the scrap guy wouldn't even pay a cent to take them. I spent a few hours here & there. 1st job Kill spiders & any bitey creatures. Clean, degrease , vacuum. Pressure wash inside & out. Omo cold power laundry detergent and a stiff scrubbing brush removes any goo on seats, the detergents make the colours pop and smell fresh..just like new once dry. Gentle lick off with the Pressure washer to remove deep goo & soapy resi. Wet vac /air compressor to speed up drying. Hang out seats in the sunshine or on a shed post near the pot belly to dry. If the carpets grotty , and i can be bothered going the whole hog to perfection working with what i got. Il pluck the carpet out. Vac the bare shell, soapy wash sponge and soft brush scrub the inside. Seat belt stalks get suds lower dash console seat belts everything gets a wash. Bucket of warm Washing detergent mix splashed onto the removed carpet section. Ditch any sick or crumbling underlay/ felt.scrub any wear spots or marks in the carpet. The soap and warm water brushing action refluffs and releases any old spills. Pressure wash off and hang to dry. Replace the Few bits of dead underlay where needed. Sometimes freely sourced from later model parts car... i already have in the yard. Any model if the underlay is yee har. Nothing beats putting everything in fresh cleaned up, stain free and smelling fresh. Its not even a huge job for the results you can get without spending any money just time and some trigger happy wet n wild idea's zero F G because it will dry or die wet and wrinkled. It either works or youve destroyed the interior. It Always turns out awesome for me. Polish/ quick buff. Amazing results everytime. If the radios missing. Slap 1 in to fill the hole. Sometimes i wired them up. Sometimes i didnt bother because the radio was daggy as & probably the first thing binned by new owner. But it fills the hole and looks neater than a gap with spaghetti monster of wires hanging out. If i can fix a oil leak easy i do. I usually give them a basic service. Depending on the car and its value to flip. Pictures and add description is definitely the key to finding the right guy. I am always honest & happily point out the pros & cons of what iam selling on inspection. It is what it is. Gotta research what its worth potentially as a driving car. Also what its worth in parts. It all helps you stand firm during the haggling dance. Ive sold many vehicles for 7-10x more than people expected. After spending a day. Sometimes nearly a week ironing out the bads and improving everything that would be a negative. Simple things like getting all doors opening. Making sure its running sweet. Everything is working. Clean shiney as posible. Parked in a spot that wows potential buys at first sight can definitely help sell a car. So many tricks but the simple things are the most important things. A car full of garbage looks neglected. If someone washes a car to help sell it. They obviously care about the car that huge amount more. Every car ive sold has been snapped up within 3 or less genuine buyers who view the car. 1 car i was getting 150messages of fb sat 150 sun & 70 inquiries during each week day. Took 3 weeks before anyone got out for a look. 1st dude came from nsw. Wasn't what he dreamed of. Didnt want to test drive or anything. Barely looked at it. Bailed back to nsw with hes trailler. After driving 7hours down. 😂 2nd guy was a pro flipper. 3rd fellah snapped it up and drove it 3hrs home on a permit. No worries 👍 found a good home. Tank 78 ltd

@@georgeauto I might upload a few clips. Unfortunately my other problem is forgetting to take before & after clips or pics. Happens everytime. A little quick wash to help sell... always spirals into something much bigger over a week or 2 of cbf to enjoying how the neglected beater is transforming with some attention. & much high pressure jet blasting. Interior included lol. Just like your advice. anything that's a huge turn off... I can't leave it. If I can spend some time and elbow grease to smooth out these warts and fugly points just a little or a lot...its worth a go. definitely the simple things like a vacuumed spotless interior and a wipe with a soapy cloth then what evers handy for some shine... The details make all the difference with so little effort. ocd Transforms the car. Positive vibe all around = less reasons to go cold or try kicking the tyres for a huge price reduction. I like giving the car another chance. Neglected gems going full circle on a shoestring budget is just what the Doctor orded. At the end I always kick myself for not filming my achievements. pics are better than nothing. The cars always sell for asking price or very close. I Must be doing something correct.

You have gheed me up, I needed a reason to cut back my hours at work to do something like this I love
Literally exactly why I made this video
Lota work for not heaps. But love gettin these older cars back out there. Thanx
Yeah that’s right , i bought the cars with no intention just knowing that they were good deals and saw potential then ended up selling when i needed cash flow
Nothing beats presentation! Soo many cars ive walked away from, if you're prepared to sell, prepare to sell!!
yeah i agree! being a real estate photographer you see inside a lot of everyone's homes and let me tell you everyone has a different standard of cleanliness, for some completely trashed in clean and others one tiny spec of dust they are getting the vacuum out
@georgeauto that's true, but at least if you're a motivated seller prepare it how you'd expect to see it if you were buying it.
Could be the difference in bargaining power
@@Carcyclechronicles of course some people unfortunately don’t have a very high level of care when it comes to that stuff but others who do can take advantage of it
Guys got a energetic, bubbly, absolutely blinding personality... 😂😂
haha thanks mate guessing you have a very positive personality, love it haha.
Love the red falcon that would have sold for between 16 and 20k here in nz we just don’t have many here
I got an EF Fairmont ghia for $400, with a no start issue. Was a stretched throttle cable.
Did some basic repairs, cut and polish. Spent $1100 total, sold for $3,000
boom! nice work man thanks for sharing
8:16 bro that black wheels looked so good😮😮😮
Thanks man I had them on for a bit looked a bit too hoon spec for me with the black on black
Yes sounds like you might not really want to get rid of anything haha , might have to come and do a video tour of the farm !
nice video... I have been doing this for a few years too. Most recent one was an FG turbo ute.... I bought from a dealer.... but still made 6k on
Great video.
Seller: "would you do $1600?"
I couldn't get the cash out my pocket fast enough.
Business is Business you have to do deals where can you man well said
You know how it is mate. I like your style.@@georgeauto
Had a mate was a panel paint guy. Stopped at the shop. Got his garage sorted. Did falcons. Paint n v8. Did really well' i got sick of sandin.
Oh yeah it gets boring even with music on, kinda like a treadmill for the arms
@@georgeauto I'm from Adelaide. Currently in Greece.
I bought a 2004 Holden rodeo 3.5l v6 from manhiem for $575 and I am currently fixing it up. I am enjoying every moment of it, learning how to work on it and hopefully ending up with making some profit at the end of it
amazing! thanks for sharing how's it coming along?
Nice man! good luck with it
Nice insight, but dont tell too many people.
I've done this over the last 5+ years.
Covid sort of wrecked it as no bargains were coming up.
Bought and sold 7 cars
Bought and parted 9 cars.
My goal was to keep going until I could afford a 26K Harley, which I succeeded in doing earlier this year.
Nice work man that’s sick , well I kinda just went public with it so haha , 99% of people will watch it but won’t do it
Hats off to you, man. What a great breakdown, top shelf 🫡
Mate don’t tell everyone our secrets…. Na but good video. Now I will have to be even quicker on marketplace to get those good deals 😂
I did this for a few years started with a $50 TF Magna Wagon and ended up with a 383ci clevo ZK Fairlane
what thE! that sounds like a crazy combo!
nice, i made $9k flipping a VYSS commodore around 4 years back, turned out well, picked it up for $1500 from council auction expecting it to be stuffed and it wasnt.
I’ve always found if it has a carby I can get it running, fuel injected always left looking for a scan tool.
Great insight, awsome tutorial. 👍
Hey bro really enjoyed this video. Surprisingly every tip you mentioned I had figured out myself from buying/selling cars over the years.
Amazing man! Glad you enjoyed it , what kind of cars have you had?
@@georgeauto I usually flip ute’s or small Dailey cars as they are easy to fix and there is a high market for them, And some falcons too!
Everything this man says is true!! My brother and I have been doing the exact same thing for 20 years and have Made some bloody good money
Amazing man ! Thanks for the comment ! What was your best flip ! What kind of cars ?
@georgeauto
We don’t really descriminate with cars man.
Amazing man ! I don’t know your name so can’t say I remember you, I’m good with faces though . Thanks for the sub dude also
Monza red always comes up nice
dude it was so satisfying! have you had a red one before ?
bought a manual 8th gen mitsubishi galant vr4 twin turbo for 4000. spent 600$ on rwc and the few little things it needed and sold for 8.5k
They can keep up with traffic and are cheap and easy to work on.
yeah you're not wrong about that! you have to move on the bargains quick though when they pop up they get snapped up quickly
The 4 lita intec is great aswell
Yes I agree ! I have an AU with one also
Once I made a flipply flip.
That's a good story, thanks for sharing! they are worth a bit more then that now! and what a lucky daughter getting a skyline

I've started getting a rwc prior to sale, hoping to pick up the pace and target those impulse buyers.
Did you ever consider doing a 13b swap to try to get max $ on the 323
Not with this one bro , in my experience performance mods rarely get more money and are so much money and time for what it’s worth , this car did end up with a 13? In it though I think it’s a 11second car now
Great video mate!!
Thanks mate! glad you liked it

Would love to do this on the side if i had the space and time! Looks so rewarding. Also are you technically making all of this cash tax free? If so, makes this venture sound even better
Yesh why not, maybe one day in the future, I think you can sell up to 4 a year before you need a licence LMCT. These cars I’ve done over years though the old Mazda was I think back in 21
I noticed the XF had a ratted out interior, cracked up dash pad and centre console lid to name a couple. Did you end up fixing those too ? What about door rubbers etc. Those are notorious on early Falcons.
No I didn't fix the dash or rubbers, it still needed a few things to finish it off depending on how fussy one is

wow! its crazy how much they love them there. the guy who bought it off me then sold it again and im pretty sure its a 11 second 13b turbo now, there is a great video of it on youtube at the drags, such a sleeper
Great vid bro. Well done
Appreciate it, thanks for your comment!
Can i mention something without having my head ripped off 😂😂
Think of the seasons too
(End of summer going into winter) trucks 4wd (no toys)
When summer comes around ...v8s dirtbikes Jetskis ect....thats when the toys n fun tbingd to flip come about
Yeah the funniest thing is. We own a workshop and know heaps of people with old cars and they bearly drive them untill summer then when they drive them the water jackets rust and clogg the rads then over heat. Within one week we had 6 calls about people needing rads replaced, carbys to be re built from gelled up fuel, no spark, dead fuel pumps and so much more if you own an old car you gotta drive it 😂😂
@@snapped4433 yep, my daily is a v8 (not carby tho) but idk why it runs like utter shit when I let it sit 🤦♂️😂
@@Getsum-ii dose it hunt at idle (dose it go up and down in revs) becuse if it dose get plugs and coils done aswell as o2 sensors and if that dosent fix it try get someone to look at the ecu to make sure it's working

in what time frame do you repair the cars, like do you buy and sell after a week, a month?
some of these were years bro, actually none of them were bought for the intention of a flip, just seen good deals pop up at the time and sold when needed cash flow
Another awesome vid - any thoughts on parting out cars?
Yeah lot of people make good coin from that , I think the key is maybe picking one specific vehicle and being seen as the wrecked for that kind, then having a good organisation / selling system / eBay store for all your stuff
Good to see a 323 in here
Thankyou ! I still have one I need to paint ! Coming up on future episodes same hatch 1980 but I’m doing it in a Mercedes silver
any details on the laws around this and the dealer licenses?
pretty sure you can look it up depending on your state, In vic it states you can sell 4 a year in your own name
I can clean cars, but if there’s a blown gasket, no idea how I’d fix it 😂 so definitely not for everyone especially if taking bigger risks
Ive done this a few times i bought-an old 97 WRX GC8 for $4700 and spent $5,000 on it and sold it for $19500 , thats a profit of $9,800, but you need to read the market and have some understanding of basic car maintenance.
Wow nice one man , not bad at all

its always the falcon owners who know what there talking about
haha! not every time
Good job bro, I just bought an 08 liberty and has minor scratches all round, what do you suggest I do to restore the paint and make it look nice and shiny again like the xf!
Problem will be with yours is that it won't be single stage paint... meaning that your clear may have peeled off, on the XF the clear and red is in one... best bet would be to look up a product called "shiny car stuff" its a wipe on clear, im thinking about doing a video about it soon

Hey George, isn’t there a limit of vehicles you can sell before having to sign up for LMCT in Victoria?
Yeah there it is,
How do I know if a car is in good mechanical condition if I’m not a mechanic, and especially if I buy in an auction?
trouble is with an auction you really cant do checks properly, if youre able to inspect the car before hand thats good, look up common issues with the model that you are after, check service history, check oil for milky oil *no good), tyres, all the common stuff, i dont have a video just yet going over it but maybe somthing to add to the "to do" list
Amazing video and content keep it up
Thankyou
How do you get pass the 4 car limit a person can sell privately per year without a dealer’s licence?
Tank 78 ltd
Sounds like you got a very decent process there mate I love it , good read ! And thanks for sharing! Would be good if we could share photo comments on here so I could see some of your work!
Love your videos
