Wow this thing sounds good! Old enough to remember when these were new and this is definitely a huge upgrade! You are right, they are super comfortable - I did a road trip in the back seat in one back in the early 90's and I slept most of the way, the backseat was basically a bed!
Who wouldn't love this lol,a lovely young lady in a old school VL beast mate it's magical to see & she's not afraid to fry the tyres either 😁 you don't see many VL's around these days so this was special thanks Johnny brother.
Hec yeah front twin pot break upgrade to the VT style. Much better then factory single pot. Nice car, sounds unbelievably sick. Exhaust must be wicked. Burnt rubber goes hard!! Amazing work to everyone involved in your cars build.
I once owned a 1988 Holden VL Commodore Turbo BT1, the most fun car I ever owned, and I miss it so much since I sold it way back in 2005, I have a Kia Stinger GT now for 5 years, but the VL turbo was still more fun too drive.
VL's were great cars with the Nissan engine. I had the VL Calais station wagon selling it for about $7k AUD in tbe late 1990's , very comfortable car, but scary in the wet. I knew someone who had the VL turbo, that was a rare car even when new.
Thanks Ross for another great Aussie car review. And thanks to Nicole. Love what you've done so far. Awesome. There's more female V8 lovers out there. See them on the M4 & in Penrith. Maybe Jordan's still working on her VY in Penrith.
Nice review Ross. What a nice car and lovely owner. This is clearly a car she uses and enjoys, so good to see it not locked away for "investment" or some other silly reason. Our car season is over in the UK, winter has bitten, may get the odd dry day... so jealous of your weather.
30 plus year old car and you don't want to break it? Mate, the bits that make it go are not 30 years old! Got 2 VLs in my shed. A wagon with 1,380,000km on the clock. I used it as a pilot vehicle escorting oversize loads all over Australia for years. More than 200 trips across the Nullarbor! And a '88 SL sedan with 715,000 km on it. Of which I've driven at least 400,000. Both manuals. Both still have their original RB30 engines. Never been rebuilt. Obviously I live in the country and anywhere you want to go is a long way from here haha. Still reckon nothing drives as nice as a vl.
I think you would regret repainting the car back to original, the colour it is now (looks like Kimberley bronze) is a way better look compared to the original colour. Awesome car!
@@deevizm8035unsuspecting?!? It’s a series 200 VL that was an N/A 6 cylinder and now has a V8, it will never be unsuspecting. The car is already modified beyond being a series 200 anyway so why spend the money on changing the colour back to original? The colour the car is now is better than original.
@@danriley1980 because when it’s sitting there turned off, it will look original. Then when she turns the key you will recognise that it’s not a slow ass na rb30. I watch all off your reviews, thats probably the best one yet, that vl has heaps off character,it's so original and a strong 6 litre to improve its performance, good on her 👍
I love the V8 throb throughout this video. It's so sad that there has been a dramatic shift in the automotive industry and in Australia's outlook, and as a consequence, cars like this have passed into history.
I owned a 1988 VL Commodore (Ex- police car, South Australian Interceptor) powder blue colour, 304 (4.9), certainly did not sound like this beast with the LS2 6 Litre
Sold my faded paint low ks RB motor VL Holden fifteen years ago for a ridiculously low price. Oh well. Hope it survived and still runs about somewhere.
She fries drowsiness? In Australia, we refer to the rubber on wheels as TYRES, not tires. Tires is the stupid ass Seppo spelling and should NEVER be used in that context by real people!
Finally a chick with a proper built rig
This car is not for the light hearted 😈😮💨🇦🇺
Yep. Very nice rig. Car ain’t bad either
Nice to see the younger generation loving the petrol cars...nice build....another great review...thanks Johnny...
Glad you enjoyed it mark! Was a great day

Right on! Super comfy seats 💺
Series 200 was released for Australia's Bicentenary in 1988.
Thanks for the info!
Nice VL Commodore that has been tastefully modified... Great review and hopefully you find a VL Turbo someday 👍
I hope so too! Have been close a few times n then cars ran into issues will get one on soon

Kia stinger is nice but yeh the VL on another level
Another Kia Stinger GT car owner, absolutely love it, also a big fan of the classics too.

Absolutyly love a V8 VL
Can’t not love it eh
Luv the older commodores vb to vl so much lighter , they handle really well when you do the suspension and sticky rubber
Very light cars.. super cool styling

What a mint sound, hell yeah Nicole, beautiful VL!
Indeed it is!
I owned the 6cyl VL years ago, such a awesome car ,loved this video well done
Glad you enjoyed it!
Vls have always been a lighter better handling variant. HEAPS here in nz
They go hard
Reminds me of my old 5 lite vl with its full factory 110 kw engine..was a great car for its time
VK and VL best ever Commodore's made. Just my opinion being a FORD man. And probably the last of the good Holdens made.
They are both epic! I very much enjoyed the 1000hp VK I did In Sydney also 😂😅
Need to see more old-school Aussie muscle, particularly 70's.
I hope to show them off! Its not easy to find owners willing tho
That Calais interior is mint 👌
Super comfortable

First one was low all new suspension. Was a great handler. Money well spent.
Good one John such a fun review, onyx Nicole, wastnt expecting that tyre frying
Me neither🤣

Kudos to the owner/ Thanks for sharing. Enjoy.
She’s a legend
I love the VL. It would be the only commodore that I would personally own. 6 or 8. Either way. Very nicely done up.
You go girl.
Fully sik ey bro.
🤘
Good choice! I’d kill for a mint turbo
I do like the old holden vee8’s. That thing would weigh bugger all. It’s all motor
Yup.. nothing to it and a healthy amount of power
I owned a 1988 VL Commodore (Ex- police car, South Australian Interceptor) powder blue colour, 304 (4.9), certainly did not sound like this beast with the LS2 6 Litre
Unpretentious simple clean & sounds sweet 👌🏼🔥
Very well done
