There's a world of difference between an interracial marriage between an Asian guy and a NonAsian woman vs an Asian woman and a NonAsian guy. The one thing that most Asian women will not talk about is how much white worship is part of their equation. Age difference affects depending on the culture, most members of my family have married women at least 8 years younger up to 20 years younger and they had pretty good marriages until death some of them already. In Mexico or the Philippines age differences are ok sometimes even advisable

I lived in Asia for years and have spent a decent amount of time in China and even speak, read and write Mandarin, and I am also married to an Asian woman. I would never recommend anyone going to China to find a wife. Cultural differences are too great and family interference is enough to drive most foreigners crazy. Same applied to Korea as well, but that's another story. Always find your Asian wife in your own country. It will definitely work out better for you in the long run.

I think a lot of non-North Americans misunderstand the wearing shoes in the house thing. I don't think they realize that oftentimes, we only allow non-relatives/non-family members to wear shoes in the house, beause we want to be perceived as gracious hosts/very accomodating/non-rude/high in hospitality. My own mom would always let strangers (such as real estate agents or her co-workers who were visiting our house for a dinner party) wear their shoes indoors, but as soon as they left, my mom would leap to the drawer where all the rags are stored, grab one, spray some sort of disinfectant or soap onto the floor where the guests had stepped, and start rubbing vigourously to try to lift off any dirt that fell off any shoes onto her floor! My mom would always make me and my dad take off our shoes. I also noticed that when my aunts and uncles and cousins came over for dinner parties on special holidays, they'd all take off their shoes. I remember reading an article where a guy from India wrote a comment stating that in India, guests are king, though it's not as extreme as it is in the West where Westerners will bend-over-backwards to accomodate guests. I'm guessing he was referring to things like Swedes removing their crosses from their church rooftops in order to not offend their biggest group of newcomers into Sweden. I've also heard of office workers in Sweden removing all their cute piglet/piggy stuffed animals/plushies, magnets, stickers, bobbleheads, etc. from their desks and office refridgerators for the same reason. Other countries aren't that hospitable/accomodating.

Intercultural relationships are a beautiful thing,but they're not always a walk in the park. Both parties need to be mindful that they probably will face some challenges and have to go through a big learning curve. It's crucial for each person to teach their partner about their culture and the dos and don'ts. If you truly love each other you will be patient, understanding and willing to take the time to learn from each other's culture and family! A lot of people get into such relationships naively without considering the differences in mentality. In a intercultural relationship if the couple loves each other enough to compromise, and can adapt to eachother's cultural mores and remain respectful and united. Then the relationship can last. Gotta do a bit of research and investigating before seriously dating someone of a different country. In order for multiculturalism to work in a country, there has to be set rules and boundaries that are followed by everyone and not only by a few. That's what's lacking. Also governments must put in place a sort of introductory sessions that new comers must take and study in order to be educated on how the country they're moving to functions, what's the belief systems, the customs, the social norms. One area governments have failed is by letting people immigrate without any knowledge of how things roll. When foreigners from Africa, North and South America, Europe move to for example China, South Korea, Japan they adapt to how the life is there, they follow their systems of doing things they're forced to learn a bit of the language to get by etc. Being too lax with no structure as in the case in North America well ... nuff said.

Yeah, but our customs matter also. Just like we should be respectful and adapt to the traditions of a Chinese person's home, what gives them the right to barge in to our homes and "dust the shelves" and demand we take our shoes off? Until Chinese and other cultures can show that they are also willing to accept my culture, then I will conclude that interracial/cultural dating and especially marriage is a terrible idea.

I don't think the passport bros think about how most countries are culturally monolithic. Most people would prefer to marry someone from their same culture, and that could mean a Korean would prefer to marry another Jorean over a Laotian or Japanese person. The idea that the Philipines is full of women who is happy to date white and black guys seems unrealistic. I wouldn't say there are no women in these countries will to date outside their rate but it's not as common as Americans think. I agree somewhat with the video, but i also find it interesting that there are a shortage of women in China and this guy and Chinese guys in general get very touchy and possessive about any guys dating “their women.” I have a Chinese wife and find that a lot of Chinese guys are not very friendly towards me since I am not Chinese and can be seen as an interloper. Depends on the guy but a lot Asian men have an inferiority complex when it comes to women and Western guys dating “their women” from their home country. These marriages can work out if both the families are somewhat open minded and supportive. The two people in the relationship also have to open to each other’s cultures and accepting the differences. Can you change the title to international marriage. Because interracial seems misleading here. I come from a country where there are some interracial marriage (including the Chinese) going on, and it is long lasting. Some of your statements about Westerners could actually also apply to overseas Chinese from South East Asia since some of their traditions differed from the mainland.
It isn't that rigid. Take what he said with a big grain of salt. It depends on the region, some Chinese families in coastal cities are quite westernized and laugh at the old taboos. But for sure, the more a foreigner knows and respects the beliefs of the elders, the smoother the acceptance. If the family is that rigid, you'd better not live near them.
It depends on the interracial marriage. Im Filipino and I have seen Filipinas/Filipinos marry other cultures that have the same basic groundwork as Filipino culture: must be a Catholic (or even Protestant) background, and family oriented. Thats why I hav seen Filipinos marry Mexicans, Italians, Indian Catholics, Irish peoples, Lebanese Catholics etc.

Three isues: First, while you are correct that "multiculturalism" can lead to challenges to both parties within a multicultural marriage, race per se is a different issue. For example, white-asian couples within the same nation/culture have a much LOWER divorce rate than average. Second, even in marriages between those of different cultures, it depends a lot on the cultures themselves. I lived in Asia for years and have spent a decent amount of time in China and even speak, read and write Mandarin, and I am also married to an Asian woman. I would never recommend anyone going to China to find a wife. Cultural differences are too great and family interference is enough to drive most foreigners crazy. Same applied to Korea as well, but that's another story. Always find your Asian wife in your own country. It will definitely work out better for you in the long run.

I think a lot of non-North Americans misunderstand the wearing shoes in the house thing. I don't think they realize that oftentimes, we only allow non-relatives/non-family members to wear shoes in the house, beause we want to be perceived as gracious hosts/very accomodating/non-rude/high in hospitality. My own mom would always let strangers (such as real estate agents or her co-workers who were visiting our house for a dinner party) wear their shoes indoors, but as soon as they left, my mom would leap to the drawer where all the rags are stored, grab one, spray some sort of disinfectant or soap onto the floor where the guests had stepped, and start rubbing vigourously to try to lift off any dirt that fell off any shoes onto her floor! My mom would always make me and my dad take off our shoes. I also noticed that when my aunts and uncles and cousins came over for dinner parties on special holidays, they'd all take off their shoes. I remember reading an article where a guy from India wrote a comment stating that in India, guests are king, though it's not as extreme as it is in the West where Westerners will bend-over-backwards to accomodate guests. I'm guessing he was referring to things like Swedes removing their crosses from their church rooftops in order to not offend their biggest group of newcomers into Sweden. I've also heard of office workers in Sweden removing all their cute piglet/piggy stuffed animals/plushies, magnets, stickers, bobbleheads, etc. from their desks and office refridgerators for the same reason. Other countries aren't that hospitable/accomodating.

Intercultural relationships are a beautiful thing,but they're not always a walk in the park. Both parties need to be mindful that they probably will face some challenges and have to go through a big learning curve. It's crucial for each person to teach their partner about their culture and the dos and don'ts. If you truly love each other you will be patient, understanding and willing to take the time to learn from each other's culture and family!

In order for multiculturalism to work in a country, there has to be set rules and boundaries that are followed by everyone and not only by a few. That's what's lacking. Also governments must put in place a sort of introductory sessions that new comers must take and study in order to be educated on how the country they're moving to functions, what's the belief systems, the customs, the social norms. One area governments have failed is by letting people immigrate without any knowledge of how things roll.
When foreigners from Africa, North and South America, Europe move to for example China, South Korea, Japan they adapt to how the life is there, they follow their systems of doing things they're forced to learn a bit of the language to get by etc. Being too lax with no structure as in the case in North America well ... nuff said.

I found it amusing and cute at times when I had Chinese gf’s how I’d get scolded for not immediately removing my shoes when entering my own apartment or when they’d dust my shelves, or turn some objects in different directions, clean any dirty dishes left in sink due to my place bad ‘feng shui’. I did learn to be neater at least despite not giving into their crazy ideas of marrying again :) I will say some of the most solid and long lasting marriages I’ve seen were western guys married to ladies from China. Yeah, but our customs matter also. I don't think the passport bros think about how most countries are culturally monolithic. Most people would prefer to marry someone from their same culture, and that could mean a Korean would prefer to marry another Jorean over a Laotian or Japanese person.
The idea that the Philipines is full of women who is happy to date white and black guys seems unrealistic. I wouldn't say there are no women in these countries will to date outside their rate but it's not as common as Americans think.

Depends on the guy but a lot Asian men have an inferiority complex when it comes to women and Western guys dating “their women” from their home country. It isn't that rigid. Take what he said with a big grain of salt. It depends on the region, some Chinese families in coastal cities are quite westernized and laugh at the old taboos. But for sure, the more a foreigner knows and respects the beliefs of the elders, the smoother the acceptance. If the family is that rigid, you'd better not live near them.

Im Filipino and I have seen Filipinas/Filipinos marry other cultures that have the same basic groundwork as Filipino culture: must be a Catholic (or even Protestant) background, and family oriented. Thats why I hav seen Filipinos marry Mexicans, Italians, Indian Catholics, Irish peoples, Lebanese Catholics etc.

Three isues: First, while you are correct that "multiculturalism" can lead to challenges to both parties within a multicultural marriage, race per se is a different issue. For example, white-asian couples within the same nation/culture have a much LOWER divorce rate than average.
Second, even in marriages between those of different cultures, it depends a lot on the cultures themselves. For example, while I can certainly see potential problems in marriages between a Muslim and a non-Muslim, other cultual mixing--say, between those of a Hispanic and non-Hispanic background, seem to work out far better. Of course, terms "Hispanic" or "Latino" embrace a wide variety of racial backgrounds and race mixing, which again proves my point. Most Hispanic/Latinos from the Americas are miixed race, including mixes of extreme cultural differences, as between members of pre-Columbian tribes and European Hispanics.
Finally, just because some Westerners are abysmally ignorant of other cultures and traditions--including those in Asia--that does not apply to all, and people genuinely in love with one another will be motivated to understand their cultural differences and make efforts to bridge such issues in a positive way.
I like your content but this is BS. In China, as you noted, divorce is rampant in Chinese marriages. My wife is Chinese and all her 5 closest friends divorced years ago. All the mixed marriages we know are still together after 25 plus years. China puts huge pressure on marriage. Escaping this pressure makes marriage easier.

This video clearly shows your bias and limited knowledge on the matter. Firstly, success and failure of a relationship depends on the people's mutual interest and dedication, it's a mindset. Sure, there's extra things to consider in a multicultural relationship, but there's extra rewards as well. You get to learn a lot about another part of the world and expand your mind with a different set of normal. Granted what's necessary is mutual curiosity to discover the other persons world, and more skill to find the common ground. By the way, there are many empires and countries that were built on multiculturalism, USA is an immigrant country, the West had many influences from within and everywhere in the world.
