Your love and respect for each other is so evident it makes me feel so positive for the future of the human race. In 1974 it was rare to see bwwm couples but 2024, I’m pleased to say, it is commonplace and will continue to grow because it is such a normal thing. You focused on the right thing, "...when you're focused on Christ." You are made in His Holy Image and when your children are born they will be too. It's easy to project forward about how 'they will be treated.' The key is beginning their lives from the first moment with the two of you praying over your baby in-utero and after he or she is born. It's very much moment by moment. Your faith sets you and all Christians apart. As the Greeks who came to see Jesus during Passover said to the Disciples, "Sir we would see Jesus." Let you children see Jesus in you and the world see Jesus in them. Starting right now your family will strengthen in Christ so let not your hearts be troubled...y'all are a Godly couple...let go and let God fill you always with His Holy Spirit. Sorry for the long missive--we preachers preach.
It's disappointing that you guys seem kind of uncomfortable with talking about racism in a deep way. There's a lot of avoidance through the way you frame some of these things. It's a painful thing to address so I do understand some of the avoidance but as someone who has been in an interracial relationship myself, it's important to name racism in the world for what it is. It's embedded on an institutional level in this country, and that is undeniable. Things can only be changed if we address there is a deep problem in the first place. Thank you for sharing though.
