I've had both from Samsung. I sent the fold back . I couldn't deal with the narrow front screen. The ultra on the other hand is brilliant

I think the narrow screen makes it easier to hold, and I don't use my phone that much, so I think It's not a problem for me
I have purchased a z fold 5, 6 weeks ago and also have a iPhone 15 Pro Max. Now completely swapped over to the Fold5. I really like the narrow folded form factor - fits hand and pocket really well. Used to travel with iphone and ipad mini for light work. Now 1 device. The large screen and office 365 makes work possible - so much so that I leave laptop behind while traveling. Overall love the fold 5 experience. Use is 70% folded and about 30 % open.
I just dislike the battery autonomy which is sad (I get 7 hours tops) but I am so loving everything else. I love having the large screen to do so many things like my taxes! I also love the attention, LOL, people are often amazed by me opening the fold.
I agree. I have the Z Fold 5 and won't be "upgrading" to the S24 Ultra. I love the slim outer display for more mundane tasks like replying to text messages or scrolling through my feed. The inner display serves all my other multimedia needs.
the Fold 5 is my first foldable after using a TON of phones over the years (perk of working for 2 wireless carriers in recent years). I can never go back to a slab phone now. The inner screen is such a game changer

Going from a Note 20 Ultra to a Z Fold 5 has been an outstanding experience for me.
I've become spoiled with a foldable and don't see myself ever going back to a candy bar type device.
Is it really that good? I've got the N20U and really didn't want to upgrade for at least another year, especially now more competitors are entering the foldable space, as I swore my next phone would be foldable. Unfortunately, I'm starting to have network issues and it looks like I won't last that long. I'm seriously tossing up between the S24U or Fold5 but if I get the S, I won't be planning on changing phones for a good 4 or 5 years...
I've had no issues with mine and not upgrading for at least two to three years.
Suggest keeping a watch on the Z Fold 6 or Supposedly a Z Fold 6 Ultra releasing in July or August.
@@bairnonessieits alright but it definitely has its flaws, mainly the mains screen being so small makes things pretty inconvenient. The big screen is great and beautiful, but it WILL NOT be where you spend most your time. You will be using the main screen a majority of the time and for such a task, it just doesnt really cut it honestly. Especially on youtube, the phone is long and awkward, and very small horizontally. Makes typing on the keyboard near impossible. Watching videos without flipping your phone horizontally is also impossible, and even when horizontal its still pretty small.
Overall phones great, true innovation and great idea but its not quite ready for practical use yet. Its that “secondary device” as of now, like your ipad or tablet. As a daily driver, its pretty just inconvenient. I believe one day these phones will be the new “thing” that everyone has simply because of how great it can be. But as of now, its just not quite there yet. Honor magic v2 shows just how good these types of foldables can become and will become. Soon they will likely be just as thick or just a small bit thicker then a regular phone, and thats when they will take over the market.
So in conclusion, its up to you. Do you mind the small screen? You will just have to try it for yourself honestly. Just Dont be thinking you will mainly be using the big screen, i thought i would be, but you wont, so make your choice based off other factors.
Compared to the Ultra series, it's a weaker phone that I couldn't justify all that money on.

Traded in a Note 20 Ultra 256GB for my Z Fold 5 512GB.
Got the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic 47mm and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro with it and paid 1053.00, including taxes for everything.

went from a s20fe to the fold 5 and im just loving the use of the phone. Im not using the fold to its fullest but I love the niche folding use and got used to the narrow front really quickly
upgrading the s pen to be in the device, with Bluetooth, and working on the outer screen would be huge for the z fold 6.

Yup.. I use my z fold 5 for everything. Watching videos, movies, etc. I also have 15 pro has my main line but only use for messaging, family screen time. I haven't picked up my iPad mini because it really sucks compared to z fold 5 to be honest and maybe if the iPad had 120hz it might feel a little better. But, having 2 phones instead of a phone and a tablet is the way to go if you can do it. Both pocketball at the same time it's a wonderful thing and the way to go in 2024.

How about screen protector in z fold 5? Is it damaging in the middle part after sometimes...?
After months having both kinds of phones, and lots of time thinking about which one I should be using this video finally helped me to make a decision. Since my s22 ultra is 256gb/12 and the fold3 is 512gb/12, carrying my spen pro or the spen fold edition will be my best choice.

For Me:
I like to have foldable phones because Ive been wanting to experience the folding phone:
1. The unique experience to have a tablet and a phone at the same time
2. Having a large screen since I love watching videos
3. The folding mechanism has wow factor and may impress your friends and family
4. The feeling of technology advancement and luxury
However I don't like ZFold 5 because:
1. The front screen is too narrow, i was planning to use the front screen most of the time
2. I care about durability and longevity
3. I might not feel comfortable putting it in my bag or pocket because i might break the hinge
4. It's quite expensive
5. No option for tempered glass on the primary screen.
6. Looks the same as the previous zfold phones
I ended up buying Galaxy S24 Ultra 1TB
Because:
1. It is the latest flagship of 2024
2.it has a really good camera
3. I like the now flat edged screen as it is more duable and i can have a tempered glass
4. Im planning to keep it for the next 5 years and then it's can now try a foldable phone
5. Because of pre-order promo I was able to get discounts and freebies amounting to $700+ (without trade-in)

As the camera is of utmost importance to me and I frequently use high zooms, often ranging from 50x to 70x on a daily basis, opting for the S24 Ultra was the most suitable choice for my needs.

I actually have both because I have a problem 😅
They both have things going for them and in my opinion they complement each other nicely. I have the Zfold 5 for when I want to watch media or when I want to chat with friends or family. I know people complain about the cover screen of the Zfold but it's great for me because it makes it a pain free experience one handed typing. But when I want to do something simple and quick I pull out the S24U. Or when I want to take pictures.
Trading back n forth is seamless. Lugging a zfold around all day is not ideal for longevity. I don't want mishaps with a fold - repairs costly n never cherry again.
I switched from the Fold 5 to the S24U. Just couldn't get use to the super narrow front screen for day to day stuff. After you. Slap a case on it, it gets a bit harder to get to the corners and sides too. S24U is a WORK HORSE

same here! I had the note 20 ultra, went z fold 4, miss the damn spen the camera, and besides the big z fold screen and the user experience, (and the fact no case can fit it and im gonna break it sooner or later) im torn between returning to the slab or keep the fold :(

@xShinobiXx I did use the bigger screen the novelty was the idea of having a tablet like screen at the cost of durability, a folding & flip phone is great in concept but abysmal in execution especially when it comes to Samsung 5 years of the fold & flip and they still can't remove the crease and put an spen inside, they've become way to comfortable with the design of the fold.
@@Tyler-uj5mf ya I see that. It depends how you use it. For me it's been amazing because it's like I have two phones. And I usually prefer a one handed device because I tend to use my device one handed in many situations from in bed to outside or at the gym. So the fold is sweet because the outter screen when closed is so narrow it grips super nice. But at the same time I don't compromise a large display when I need it. I use that for editing videos. RUclips. Reading text. Which is all better than a regular phone

I have the folr 4, and when i got it, it was painful because of the lack of app compatibility. Most of them looked zoomed and stretched, but now they caught up, and its just amazing. Sometimes, i want to go back to the S line, but something always hold me back lol

I have the pleasure of having them both with me now. I am selling the Z fold 5 and keeping the S24U. They are both great and I only chose the S24U by a small margin. In fact I actually put the S24U on sale as well and altho I prefer the S24U, I will keep the one that I can get the most profit from lol. It is that close.

@nilsarivera420 I just decided to keep the S24 Ultra because it's more durable, has 45w charging speeds, & it has the newer snapdragon chip. Also, it's cheaper. Better cameras & I can put a case on it & not have to worry about parts being exposed like the hinge. The fold is pretty much a bad investment because it will eventually start having problems.
I ended up buying both phones. I had my Zfold 5 first but after my Note 9 started becoming a slower, I wanted that full phone feel at times, and the s 24 ultra would become my new "Note 9" if you will.
Ther are other times I want to use my zfold 5 for watching movies on a wider screen or viewing blue print design files. The zfold 5 is my tablet on the road.
With 7 years update support on both phone, I will not be impress with getting a new phone for many years.
I'm not looking for a zfold 5 to be a s24 ultra. Both phones are excellent dual partners.

I had the Z Fold 5 but I also bought the S24 Ultra and I decided to sell my Z Fold 5 because it might seem like that are no performance differences between the two but just the clunky nature of third party apps on the Z Fold 5 and lack of optimization yet really bugged me a lot. And, I am a photographer, and the camera performance is miles apart between the two and the Lightroom performance on the Z Fold 5 is terrible, the phone stutters hard because of the different aspect ratio of the Fold and lack of optimization. Loved the Z Fold 5 while it lasted but the technology is still not optimized for Foldable yet.
I am still not used to people comparing the s24 ultra to the iPhone. The plus and regular variants of the s line of samsung phones are the true competitors l. The iphone pro max is the heavy duty media phone that people started using for business. While the ultra ( note ) is the business oreinted tablet/laptop replacement for your pocket, that people started to use like a social media outlet. Thats why it isnt optimized for instagram but can do worksheets, graphs and other productivity tasks better and easier.

The way I see it is the S24 Ultra is an all-round better phone. Most people should buy it. Better no-glare screen, better battery life, better cameras.
The Z Fold5 has the bigger screen, everything else is worse or on par (except maybe speaker quality). I might sound biased towards the S24 Ultra but I'm a Fold5 owner with no plans of switching. The bigger screen means that much to me!
So basically - care for the wow factor and bigger screen? Z Fold5. Otherwise? S24 Ultra.

I had the zfold 5 i got it at launch went from a note 20 ultra. After about 5 months of use i traded it in and went back & got an s24 ultra (which i am using as i type this) ive found that the zfold & flip line of phones are nothing more than a novelty, upon which built on technology that i genuinely believe is not ready for another 8 years bare minimum. If Apple has shelved its production plans of an flipping iphone due to cause of concern for reliability sake, after which they tested Samsung's line of folding & flip phones that should tell you all you need to know, that they arent worth its asking prices. My main point of all this is to say get a phone that has been proven to be tried and true & wont have to replace or repair in 3 years.

The trouble with the Z Fold is that it's a half-way house between a tablet and a premium phone. If I were to have only one device, I'd probably go for the Z fold. However, I already have a large tablet, so I just need a premium phone, especially one with good cameras, and my S24 Ultra fills that gap.
I like that's it's in-between. It's replaced my tablet usage and I prefer it

Hey, so I had the Fold 4, and before that, I had the Fold 3. But I got tired of the narrow screen when I was using it outside, so I traded it for the S24U. I did like the big screen, though but I would only use it like that when lying in bed

The OnePlus Open is more attractive to me. It provides a full phone experience with the front screen but transforms into a tablet when you need a bigger screen to work on. The price has now been dropped to a point where it can be given serious consideration. I think the front screen on the Z Fold is just too narrow for serious use. The OnePlus Open for me is the better alternative to the S24 Ultra.
Buyers remorse will take its course when zfold 6 comes out 😊
The only thing with that is features. Not to knack One Plus, but Samsung has more usable features and optimized apps for the experience. It also has a better ecosystem and has a developer option to force app perspective. Though, the One Plus's hardware, design, and build far outshine the Fold 5.
After my ZFold 4 I tried the Oppo Find N3 (identical to the OnePlus). Usefulness, camera, split screen apps, all are better with the Oppo/OnePlus.

I have a Pixel 8 Pro. But If I wanted a fold I would just wait for the Pixel Fold 2. I think it's going to be a lot better.
I used XS Max for 5 years. Just got Z fold 5 for bigger screen and android is more freedom. I can't believe I'm still using both phone. This isn't me. was planning to put iphone away and only use fold phone but guess I need both. the front folded screen is too small.

How does fluidity on thr One Plus Open compare to Samsung?
The fluidity on the open is great. Solid phone. I use my Z Fold though for the S Pen.
Good battery life on the Fold 5? Not in my experience, mainly as you have to keep opening up to the large screen, it needs a 5K battery as a minimum.
I've been using fold since 2nd gen and have seen so many meaningful improvements in the fold series. I'm using fold 5 now, but I really want to try out S24u because of its AI features.
Just wait there coming to the fold 5 don't give up... the ai features are great as I have a s24 ultra but I'm fixing to buy a fold 5 as I love the big screen and will have both and hoping samsung will give 1k for the fold 5 when the 6 comes and I'll trade the 5 for the 6
I have a real problem concerning the fold crease after a while of usage. Is it reliable?
Crease is the biggest anxiety you'll have tbh you'll be constantly having to baby it and you can't get sand in it either as it will damage the phone. Don't bother with a fold or flip phone I had the fold 5 for about 5 months before I went to an s24 ultra, unlike the zfold 5 there is no comprises & it's durable.

My Samsung fold 3 phone died on me in 2 years. The main centre screen went blank, only the front screen works. I kind of knew one day it will as folding the main screen back and forth takes its toll. Ive ordered the S24 Ultra now, dont think i will be going back to a folding phone any time soon.

I am just tired of the fold inside screen starting to seperate. Does the Z fold 5 fix this problem. I have had 2 phones do this to me. So I don't know what to get. I like the fold but that is frustrating.
Don't waste your money check out my comment I gave a very detailed & logical reasons as to why the folding phones aren't worth it.

I've had the Fold5 since release after upgrading from Fold2 which I also picked up at release. Honestly though, I am now considering the S24U instead as the Fold5, whilst great, is just annoying with the aspect ratios most of the time. The actual screen ratio taken up by, lets say, watching films on Netflix, is actually about the same size as the S24U screen lol.
If you pinch to Zoom on the screen in most instances it stretches it out to the entire screen

With the Z5 fold, I rather Samsung make the phone with as wide a screen as the 24 Ultra, with the same cameras, even bigger battery, and a slot for the S pen and just charge for it. That's the phone I want. I can afford it- especially if I'm not going to replace the phone for 3-5 years. Give me your halo product. The absolute best you can do without compromises.
Maybe you make it a seperate product, like the Z Fold Ultra, but give me the halo.
Samsung should add a microphone to the s pen , that would maximise the media creation

One of your better video , imho. You explained how to navigate the cloudy water. As a Samsung believer , I think the s23ultra & zfold 5 are their best devices. I bought " the last of dumb devices " in hopes that AI would not ruin perfection by getting too fancy..( I find a few Ai features helpful, but others go beyond that at this point of development). ....Also, you left out the DEX feature, which the competition was happy about. ....I enjoy taking a big slab with me and using the zfold as a " sit n get immersed " machine. ....that positives of s24ultra and positives of zfold5 was on point . Then, the "second thought regrets " of choosing one made heads spin , especially you mentioned new zfold 6 coming in August. Samsung, Pixel, Oneplus have their work complicated by competition and " its a good thing ".

Oneplus has set the standard for all flagships that doesn't have Al.
At this point, I wait for the Fold 6.
I was set to trade in my ZFold5 for the S24 Ultra. When I got the S24 Ultra and compared the photos my ZFold5 was capturing way better photos. I took an entire week to evaluate them side by side and it wasn't even close. Now I'm just waiting to see what they do with the ZFold6.
I respectfully disagree with your assessment. In my professional opinion, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra offers superior camera capabilities compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.
@DominusDoritos picture quality and preferences is subjective to who's looking at it. I have the s23ultra and s22ultra and everytime we are out, my friends with fold would beg me to use my phone to take pictures and smart share it with them. To him he may like how pictures on the fold looks compare to what s24 ultra produces but at the end I concur with you, you can't compare those 2 phones on pictures, s24ultra is way ahead of the fold.
@@LordDoritoss I wasn't claiming that ALL S24 Ultras were inferior to the Z Fold5. My assessment is based on the S24 Ultra I had as compared to MY ZFold5. If you look at the specs for these devices they shouldn't be close but that didn't translate into real world performance in my case.

No way I could replace my Tab s9 with the z fold… Z fold is difficult to take notes on because it’s small. You can’t hold it in one hand and take notes because it’s too uncomfortable, so you have to lay it down and then the screen isn’t as smooth as the glass tablet and the pen is tiny and cramped for writing AND it’s just a small screen
