    I have a total love for my MT09. As with anything built by man the bike is not perfect. What few little things I don’t like can easily be fixed and I know because I have done them on my bike. The engine, gearing and over all fit are fantastic for anything available in a bike with this price. It can perform as a cruising bike, a fast touring bike or a willing track day companion. I started riding back in the mid 1950s and the evolution of bikes is truly a wonder!

    Pro tip - The fuel gauge sucks, use the "fuel consumed"-meter instead. Just remember to reset it every time you fill up. It lets you know exactly how much fuel you have left and I've found it to be accurate to within .1 liters.

    • @JeremyVaught
      @JeremyVaught Год назад +1

      Thanks for this. I've been considering a better way than the fuel gauge.

      Excellent idea! Just had my second fuel-up, and I feel dumb for not exploring the dash options and settling on this.

    • @markosz22

      It's insane that they can display that information that accurately, but still have the fuel gauge step jump half a tank

    Love my MT 09. Have had it a little over a year and have completed my build. The biggest ones being the Akra full exhaust, tuned and dyno. It’s a great bike and handles well, although a little light on the front so have to be very throttle conscious in the twisties. The Puig racing windscreen looks great and works good for its size. That was a big plus for some longer rides. Stay safe and great vid. You’ve got a new Sub. 👍

      That little wind screen is absolutely amazing for it’s size. It also looks great on the bike and kind of puts a finishing touch to the front end. I found a very nice set of grab rails also that gives a place to strap down some gear for a weekender.

    I can get about 240 km out of a tank, which does involve some “enthusiastic” riding.
    One thing that’s worth mentioning as a negative is that the steering sweep is very limited so you quickly end up running out of space when doing slow U turns.
    Other than that I love my MT-09.
    What really sets it aside for me is that it has a more upright seating position than most of the bikes in this segment, which makes it more comfortable on longer rides.

    • @gavincostin1729
      @gavincostin1729 Год назад

      bang on with fuel i get 240km 150 miles in uk mixed riding, if you thrash everywhere the miles will go under 200.

    • @walterjohnson2031
      @walterjohnson2031 Год назад

      I can if careful on secondary roads go at least 325 km on a full tank. On interstates at speeds around 80 to 90 mph dodging traffic 😳, lets say 180 to 220 km find fuel.

    Hi Josh, nice bike! I was thinking about getting the mt09 myself and honestly, it's probably more than what I even need. Now I'm waiting for the 2024 models to come out in the US. Probably going to go ahead and get a mt10. I'll probably be riding about the same as you. No more than 2 hrs out. First thing I'll be doing is getting a good windscreen.

    • @freework24

      dude the mt09 scared me shitless. I couldnt imagine an mt10

  • @ryanobravo20
    @ryanobravo20 Год назад +4

    The reservoir needs to be big enough to ensure no air will get in the system and with a twin disk setup at the front it needs lots of room for movement to keep the brake pressure solid, Hence why sport bikes and the likes have the same reservoir. Having one of these on the MT09 is why the brakes are 10 times better this gen. Also, look into getting a cover for it. I have one with the MT logo in black. Looks bad-ass. It looks lame without a cover, as stock in white for me. But yeah, solid points man. If you haven't already, give it a try with the electronics set to "OFF". The power is huge!

    • @ryanobravo20
      @ryanobravo20 Год назад +3

      Random add... The reservoir has to be at the highest point of the system. Gravity and all. This is why it is where it is. :D

    @huggybear3156 Год назад +3

    Had mine nearly a year now. Yes, it does have minor issues but when you wind it on and are snicking it up the gearbox through that buttery smooth quick shifter, all is forgiven. The sound is great as well, even as standard, when you nail it. I probably will change the pipe at some point though but don't want to go too loud. I think Mivv suits this bike. So far I've just put bar ends on, radiator guard, fly screen, tail tidy and sock for that ugly reservoir. Also put rubber washer on that because it does wobble a bit.

    • @_JoshJB_
      @_JoshJB_  Год назад

      Yea stock pipe sounds decent. I'd like to go a little bit louder but I'm unsure if I like the look of the aftermarket pipes or not.

    • @huggybear3156
      @huggybear3156 Год назад +1

      @@_JoshJB_ Yes, I agree. A lot of the after market pipes ruin the look of the bike but the Mivv X- M5 sits below the swingarm and looks pretty good in my opinion.

    The stock seat was a bust for me, ended up buying a CORBIN seat, definitely a good choice for me love it. TST makes some pretty good lighting up grades, highly recommend. I put a front brake reservoir sock/cover on it, looks better and probably helps protect the plastic from the sun’s rays. My 2021 MT-09 Blue…. Fantastic.👍

    Your negatives are minimum. I have not got this bike i have the 2022 XSR900, i did get a R&G radiator guard and fitted a tail tidy plus some tank pads knees and belt. CP3 engine kicks big time and i agree who needs more power than this. This machines awesome, your tank is shaped different but its the same capacity gives around 150 miles/240km , but i find my seats comfort would want you to take a break every 90 minutes anyway even with a gel pad, thats 1 negative on the XSR is seat the other steering lock thats about it, everything else you can live with. well for me i can. Happy CP3 riding.

Other than paint or a big European Name very prominently displayed, you saw one you saw them all. The MT09 is like a 1957 Chevy, you won’t mistake it for anything else.
