- This edition of our 4 part series (be it a little late) covers the heads we will be working on during 2022. Some is just plain Jane stuff that is easy to do in a home shop while some is off the chart in terms of hi tech. Just check this out and see what might apply to your hot rod program. Just for the record it will included 2 and 4 valve stuff including the world's most powerful 4 v head mods.

YES, Jag V12, I've got a 6.0L with a T56 Magnum in thr works!!!!!
Finally the master is doing the v12 heads justice can’t wait to jaguar like
A Ferrari
Thanks D.V. Just a journalist?! I think not! Cheers from a subscriber in Washington state. I have been a diesel mechanic for more than 25 years many of those with 10" or larger bore engines. I love your content, and grew up reading many of your books. Thank you Sir.
Looking forward to the 4-valve content!
Thanks DV! I really need help with the E7 heads and more MPG.
I have to be honest. That modified port on that big block head you showed, looked very similar to a 5.4 ford head intake port, but bigger. Cant wait to get this year started on learning....
Huge SBF fan here. I love what your team has been doing with the E7TE heads. I use those and the GT-40s often. The information on these videos is largely unparalleled.
The only thing that REALLY needs work in the presentations is the Grammar in the text edits. Everything else is tops.
I have been looking for som info on porting Jag V12 heads, especially the later Michael May version. Can't wait.
Looking forward to the 2v vs 3v comparisons 🤘🏻
I really appreciate the education offered in these videos. I'd personally like to see more Chrysler heads for porting details, but regardless, seat and port form translate fairly well from the small block Chevy stuff to most of the wedge heads. Just learning what tends to work well has been a big help in my home porting efforts. Thanks!
David i have been following you for all of your career in motorsport from your days at hot car magazines with the Averager love your channel take care stay safe and God bless you always 🙋♂️🇬🇧
2022. So many projects. So little time.
Hi Tom!
Looking forward to the next episode
"this long lanky dude" that line just shifted my perception of D.V. very good I like it.
Happy to see the 4-valve heads. Still hoping for a 3-valve vid
I love your videos and all the knowledge you share very much appreciated can’t wait for the Honda 4 valve head tech
Looking forward to the Ford Modular heads episode!
David, I've followed your work since the 1970s. I am still patiently waiting for a video showing and describing the differences between porting a 4 valve cylinder head and porting a pushrod V8.
I live in the UK.and nobody I know drives or modifies American V8s.
I know I will be in a minority amongst your US subscribers who will in the main, not be interested in porting European or Japanese 4 valve heads. I am sure though that many more people would subscribe to your channel if you just posted one video about 4 valve heads. I am not too worried about brand specific modifications, more the differences in technique that apply.
I am particularly interested in the treatment of the cylinder wall side bowls of the inlet ports.
Keep up the good work, but spare a thought for us guys that don't run Ford or Chevrolet V8s
Nice to hear you will be doing some work on the 4.6 mod motor. I’m modifying a 4v right now but own a couple 2 valve engines and have one 3v as well.
I have been following this serie over a year now. It had helped me a lot in understanding Heads and porting. Your experience in this field is indisputable.
One thing though. To much effects in the editing! I speak not only for my self.
Thank you for a fantastic video again.
The humor in this video was thoroughly enjoyable. DV is human 😁
Can't wait to see the 5.3 v12 jag engine. I've worked on quite a few xj's, I'm really curious to see what kind of power is obtainable and how much work will really have to go into it. That's a lot of porting and combustion chamber massaging to do. They do sound amazing at any rpm, especially over 6k
Love your books and your videos, can’t get enough of them! Same goes for Andy’s and Charlie’s videos. Keep up the good work and God bless you all!
DV would have to be 1 of the smartest engine gurus alive today
Looking forward to more! Marvin, thanks for fixing the audio on David's parts. I hear him on both channels now - much thanks!
Thanks David, Marvin, and Andy for all the time and effort you put into these videos. David could you please do a video on proper header design. Thanks
Thank you.
Your books have helped me tons through the years. Looking forward to all the upcoming information, especially the 4.6 Trick-Flow comparison!
I hope to see more stuff from you. Sounds like you are stopping? Like your books and love to go to your classroom work shop but it won’t happen. Need to help get more of you out there. I am 62 now and wish I had found this 40 years ago. But such is life. I could watch this all day but my wife controls me. Lol ! You know. Really love the stuff.
DV- looing forward to the bbc & cathedral port LS. Also, would appreciate a look at what can be done with the small port cadillac (472/500) heads.
Yes...i think those engines have a lot of potential as economical and reliable low speed TORQUE producers...
Looking forward to all of the 2022 videos. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Looking forward to the upcoming content, especially the non 2-valve V8 topics. I think an episode about port and chamber surface finish and textures would be great to watch, and very popular.
Yes!! Finally we will find out what a Jag V12 can do!!
I cant believe you have one of those dominion heads, cant say ive ever seen one other then the videos they put out
What a wealth of knowledge!
Thanks for allowing us inside your brain on these topics.
looking forward to all things esp sbf stuff.
So excited about the diesel heads been hanging out for some DV knowledge to be dropped on that 👌
I'd LOVE to see a Jag build. I always thought those engines were so cool, just a shame they get trashed for generally pretty plain small block V8s. I'd love to have an XJS with some good power, and a manual trans swapped in.
One of the best automotive channels on RUclips! Thanks!
David v, I really enjoy your videos, and your books, but the videos give a more personal experience with the info you provide. Thanks for making them.
I would love to see more in depth explanation of chamber modifications on different chamber types.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us.
100 mpg carby, that should be interesting given the price of fuel at the moment.
I can't wait to see the electromagnetic boosted intake!
David, No one has done any V10 heads!!! Can u imagine if you worked a set of dodge ram v10 heads. There would be so many thankful viewers subscribing too to your channel.
Always watching Dave...Cheers.
I'm more into small engines but I can translate you language. Or at least act like I can. People dont understand just yet what you are allow us to witness. This is history in the making. One of the last living of the greats. Which include imo you sir, smokey unick, E.C Birt just to name a few. Just wanted to make it clear, I thank you for you efforts and I also appreciate the fact this didnt have to be done Whatsoever, so again THANK YOU MR.VISARD!!!
I like to see some Port work done on some 4-valve heads
DV... looking forward to what you have to entice us motor heads .....
I'm really looking forward to it! I'm going through and watching all your videos. What I would like to see is porting videos on Ford 4v 4.6l heads, both the early "B heads" and the later 03-04 heads.
Recently found your videos and fascinating content. Excited to hear about the comparison in the 4.6l ford heads!
Always excellent continuity. Super job! That is such an important aspect of what is going on here. I’m frequently delighted about how seamless the ideas are presented. Well done!
David great video as always, keep them coming 👍
I remember years ago i saw a article in a magazine that Mr. Vivard had written and if ran on to more of them i always read them . I found this channel and i watch all of them to learn . As far a cylinder heads i bought a set of heads off a G Gas car that the port were a lot of epoxy and titanium valves ect . I built a engine based off a dirt track as far as the bottom end was concerned . That experience showed me that cylinder heads make a huge difference in how a engine will run and not lay over. If i want a engine to run and make hp cylinders is where is spend my money on along with other parts . That was in a long time ago but i never for got. Look forward to the articles especially the LS heads . thanks for the information
Please can you cover chamber work un shrouding valves on Chevy 706/862 heads for use on the larger bore of the 6.0 ls engine
wow, looks like a great season! looking forward to the 4 valve info as well as the hi torque truck build. thanks for all the great books & info over the years!
My engine builder buddy builds all new casting Jaguar inline 6 heads, very impressive units
Looks like a full plate. Looking forward to you Cam video's as well.
Look forward to all you guys are doing
Great Insights
You guys are great!😀
Thanks for this... really want to see what you do to the Jag head.
One thing I've been pondering is a 4-valve air-cooled head... How to dissipate the heat?
And the other stuff is nothing short of scintillating.
I'm on the edge of my seat.
Thank you! I’m looking forward to learning the information you’ll be sharing with us!
You have an ambitious schedule for 22 let me add some more please. Can you do a video of how moving a carb around on a manifold for a “ sweet” spot. The circle track guys put the 2 BBL on a 4B manifold sideways make great power (2bbl class)Thanks
Thanks for the Video David and Updates.
I'm looking forward to ALL the upcoming tech, whether I ever use it or not!
Thanks for sharing your lifetime of knowledge . You are a true asset to the auto community.
UR the man! Thank you for sharing. Would you consider doing a video on rings? For instance, are the drain back reliefs below the oil ring groove on wiseco and dss pistons beneficial. Here's one, if piston manufacturers now recommend more gap on the second ring, to prevent back pressuring the top ring, why do we need 2 compression rings? I've never heard of it, but why not 1 compression ring. Especial;ly if that ring is a total seal.
Mr. Ported Head, - a ring test on Total Seal rings is on. Just got to find the time!!! DV
@@marvingvx1 Thank you David. You have terrific energy and have already accomplished what 50 average men would take a lifetime to do.
Looking forward to following .just found out about your channel
Still looking forward to the Ford E7 porting guide👍..I enjoy watching people disbelieve thier capabilities.
Yep, those E7 heads are the best SBF heads ever poured.
So you’re telling me I should go to the scrap yard and try to find my old set?
@@blasterracer817 Absolutely. Easiest bolt-on 200whp you'll ever get.
Excellent videos Dave, I've been reading your books for years, it's good to see you still hard at work making horsepower!
Really interested in seeing some 4 valve head stuff. Idk if it's due to a lack of gains, or knowledge, but you really can't find much info at all about porting 4 valve heads. Everything is 2 valve.
Jafromobile does port the 4V heads on the Mitsubishi 4G63T. However, I don't think he could ever go as far as Dave Vizard could.
Thank you so much once again Mr. David Vizard! I'd love to hear your thoughts and the pros and cons on the sb chevy 113 aluminum heads
DV. Thank you for your knowledge.
I hope you are also dictating all your life's and family rememberances for your posterity.
Wouldn't it be nice if each of us knew the recollections of each our great grandparents?
Having recently lost my best friend of 40 years I am pleased that he relented and his last years he wrote many stories of his early life and family stories. Now published in hard back form!
I'm working on mine.
Thank you. 😎
Some years ago I found myself next door to Lister while I was visiting a customer in the UK and they (Lister) kindly took me for a tour of their facility. One of their specialties at that time was modifying the Jaguar V12 engines for larger displacement and more power. I'll be interested in your modifications. Regards, Neil Tucson, AZ
Not trying to be rude- but lets get on with it. I can't wait to glean more knowledge. Thank you ever so much DV
I wait to watch your new videos every week!! Keep them coming!
I love the V12 Jag engine and really looking forward to seeing what you do to the HE heads. I'd love a Mark X (420G) with V12, not original of course, to cruise around in. I remember watching the TWR Group A Jaguars wining the 1000km race at Bathurst in 1985 against the best that Group A worldwide could throw at them and with a weight penalty due to their over 5 litre engine capacity.
If I may make a couple of points, not really criticisms, but rather observations that will help make this much easier to view and listen to.
1. Audio - please fix the audio so it is actually stereo (when wearing headphones the audio often only comes through the left ear) especially when you are speaking David.
2. Sound track - not sure how the chipmunk style soundtrack is supposed to help these videos but I, and I recognise I may be the only person, find it annoying. Sounds induce responses and that chipmunk squeaky squeal sound is headache inducing.
3. Spelling - I know you are not a journalist David, thanks for clarifying that Andy, but I think it would help if the text that is put on the screen was proof read and corrected when errors are found. Marvin I believe that is probably your department.
Love your videos
It looks like you have some good information for us coming up. I'm especially interested in what you're doing to the LS heads.
I really appreciate all the knowledge your sharing with so many DV.
Can you share finishing techniques for chambers and ports.
For the doit yourself people.
And the importance.
What do you think about the Saenz flow benches?
Great content.
Thank you, EM.
Looking forward to lots more great videos
You are the best DV!!!L
Mr Visard, I love ❤️ your videos! It’s actually really nice to see the person that wrote the books 📚 that I read many years ago! I honestly would just like to see you get your projects done! I understand that everyone is trying to get every bit of information out of you! You really should have been able to retire years ago 🙄🙄🙄🙄! I can’t believe that none of your students want to stay to work all day every day 🙄🙄🙄🙄! (I mean a normal work week) I normally worked 2 jobs! You should just be supervising one of your good students & they should be getting things done, (how you want them!) I would really like to see you do some max effort updated castings! Honestly just about every engine that goes out of my bosses shop, has some kind of aftermarket upgraded CNC ported heads! Which could always be made better, & normally the customers bring them in! Almost nobody other than the restoration guys want factory heads anymore! Especially with what labor costs today 🙄🙄🙄🙄! Even restoration guys are bringing aftermarket aluminum heads & just asking us to look them over & mill the names off of them! Then they want them painted just like the factory engine! If they want max effort power, they just ask us to supply the complete engine, which my boss has a few top cylinder head guys he calls for top end parts! They usually could get a complete custom top end to us in about a month, definitely less than two! Even with the parts shortages! Sometimes you don’t have any choice other than to use guys like MBE, or Darrin Morgan when you have to build something that has to complete & win 🏆! My boss started building racing engines from junkyard stuff, years & years ago, he’s done everything, from truck pull, Vintage Shelby Mustang engines, midget engines, circle track, drag race & other vintage engines! So he knows how to get airflow! We even did abunch of work for Paul Newman before he stopped racing! Today no one wants to wait for us to do a R&D program, when they could just go somewhere & buy the parts! I’m sure you know that there is plenty of small block heads that flow well over 350cfm actually 400 & big block heads that flow over 600! I would love to see you do something along those lines, even just a blank porters casting into the best you could make of it! But I would really be happy if you could clear your plate! So maybe you could do something you actually want to do? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
always good content for me at least. cheers.
I don’t know those heads referred to as diesel kind of look like Oliver ones with that chamber but it don’t recall any diesel heads with the injectors not between the valves.
HELP! There are a lot of us that have the General Motors 4.3 Vortech V6. The one thing that we are missing is some good cylinder heads for the mighty mouse. We need someone that can get through to the cylinder head manufactures to make us some performance cylinder heads. Car guys like you and Jay Leno could be very instrumental in getting the aftermarket to step up. Please help us!
Could you talk about recommended camshafts for each of the head work you do, even basic, this spec for low end tourqe, this spec for high rpm HP. I think most people are over camming street engine's and paying for HP they early ever use. I have been guilty of this myself, the BIG HP Numbers are vary seductive.
Did I hear you say Honda, hope its a K20a? Would really like to see you tackle a K20a head, everyone seems to go for big ports & high peak flow as I guess it sells but what's really needed for the average track day driver or club racer is a nice wide spread of power which your attention to the bigger picture brings, I think it would get a lot of views
👍💪
Hi David! I, for one, would love to see you go through a Flotek 180cc SBC cylinder head and tell us what you think about them. You can get a bare head for 319 dollars (102-500) . Helluva deal if they're any good.
I'd like to see something done on a rb30 single cam head with turbo.
Any additional info on the Polyquad head and who could build one properly for my Triumph would be great
i love this channel, so much knowledge learn by just watching powertec 10. only 1 thing i have a request, would you mind teaching the best flow port for a 4 valve per cylinder head? i wish you a very good life and hope the channel get more popular.
David love the channel can you do something for us Mopar guy’s please
I have nagged about this before, but could you please sort out the sound? What David is telling is interesting enough to be also heard in my right ear :). On a different note, I read once that Honda used a Saab 16-valve head to show how badly it flowed compared to what they had made. So could you shake down one of the early Saab heads? I know, small market, but I am sure the world wide Saab community would appreciate the effort.
👍👍👍
can you please make the audio mono, David is only on the left in all your videos
Nice work. The only constructive criticism I would offer is to answer more of the comments sometimes.
I thought I was!
@@marvingvx1 needing help with Torque master
Needing help with Torque Master.
I talked to you a few years ago and it was a wonderful conversation about camshafts when we were setting up a cam for a 409 ci SBC, back when it was COS-CAM.
We just dynoed this engine and made 614.5 hp, and where we started recording data at 5500 RPM, we were coming down off the top of the torque curve at 542 ft-lb. Of course we are looking for more, and Torque Master is wanting something somewhat different, and that's what I have a few questions about. Plus, would it be worth it to try the cam it's recommending.
Also, are you still having your cam classes? I would love to attend to learn more and get some credentials. I think I've read every sentence in your books about camshafts and I feel like I know a good amount, but there is nothing like being in person and learning it.
I have tried every phone number and email address I could find on the internet. I did talk to Marvin once when he was extremely busy, and he never got back to me. I know y'all are very very busy, we all are I reckon, but it is really difficult to get some feedback from y'all.
👍👍
Dude. It's April and your bringing out Part 1?
Can't wait for the V12 video
