  • In this, episode 62, DV looks at what it would take to build a normally aspirated (an atmo motor)1000 hp pump gas street drivable SB Chevy. This episode talks of the rotating assemble and shows off the awesome heads that will be used. Miss out on any of this mini series episodes and you will miss out on a substantial step forward in engine technology.

Just an observation, but 468 cu in would require something like a 4.185 x 4.250 bore and strike. I can’t get there with a 4.125 stroke and a bore that fits a 4.400 bore spacing that I’ve heard of. OTOH, those ports are truly beautiful! If you can make 1.25 lb-ft at the power peak, you’ll need to spin it to 9000 or so to make that 1000 hp from 468 cu in. That actually sounds doable! Looking forward to seeing that happen!

The 4.250” stroke would take an aftermarket, raised cam tunnel block, which is what he had-I think. That would put the pin really high in the piston, too, unless it’s a raised deck. Then it may be hard to call it a SBC any more.

      @@marvingvx1 Hello David, I've watched your PowerTec 10 - EP45
several times & found it to be very helpful & interesting. As are "ALL" your videos. Regarding your recommendation to drill-out the rod journals of the crankshaft, is it equally beneficial to create "hollow" rod journals on flat-plane crankshafts?
Knowing about the "vibration" characteristics of flat-plane crank engines, I plan to take every step to minimize this issue.
I sincerely appreciate your attention & hope you will reply to my question.
      Best regards,
      Ben

@@ianmopar our pump gas in New Zealand goes up to 98 Octane and we can also get E85 Ethanol blend. So having super high compression engines down here isnt a problem. But would be nice to hear Davids thoughts on Small Block mopars as we have lots down here between Australia and New Zealand they were very popular in the Chrysler range.

CAM specs anyone ? I'm gonna say on a monster mouse like this beast to make 1000 hp we're gonna need to have 266 @ 0.050" int. by 270 @ 0.050" exh. with around 0.800" lift , 110 LSA, he did say he wanted to be a bit shorter camed 5:52 and maybe 17 to 1 comp so peak cylinder pressures at around 7000 rpm ?
