    Slightly brighter tones

I can only hear a noticable difference on the Fender tweed comparision, but I wonder how much the playing (kind of forcing the tone out of the older strings) has to do with things. They both sound good. New strings are always a bit brighter, but neither set are a deal breaker to me.

I was expecting a greater difference in tonal quality. I could barely tel the difference on the dirty tones. Biggest difference when using clean amps. Thanks for watching!

I’ve known guys who didn’t change strings unless they popped them. If one has little acidity in their fingers, the strings don’t really corrode. While if one does have a lot of acidity in their fingers, the sweat will eat them up, and your frets, neck, etc., if not changed and cleaned all the time.
I’ve met guys who change strings every time they play a guitar for even an hour.
With a set of 9’s, looking and sounding like that, after two months, you probably don’t need to change them very often. Some folks just like the feel of new strings.
If I’m gigging weekly, and rehearsing a set, several times a week, I’ll change strings every couple weeks, or I’ll pop one within that time.
The only time I have had an issue with breaking strings, or wearing them out, was when I still used thicker picks.
Now, I have gotten use to a certain nylon pick and the thinner sized normal ones. When I used a medium pick, or bigger, even small “speed” picks, I would pop a string in one night sometimes.
There’s a bit brighter tone to a few of those comparisons, with the new strings, but there’s not much difference. When they feel dead to the touch, change them, or if one hasn’t performed live in awhile, I’d put on a new set.
Check the video the Vertex guy did on strings. He has such acidic hands, that he has to change strings everyday. He sweats a lot, and it just immediately starts eating his strings. Fascinating video.
Probably search “Vertex When do I change Strings” and it will come up.
