Oh my I love this piece, the colors, the stitches ... Love watching and listening to your process of creativity. Thank you for posting.
I also am presently going through the same dilemma however I try not to look at the piece as a ‘mistake’ which brings in one’s ‘fear’ to create. Taking a breath, trust and give time to see what the fabric speaks to you.
Susan, thanks for sharing your process. Often, I hear "How do you come up with your ideas?" I say, Trial and Error, correct and continue. Watching you audition elements into your piece made me chuckle because I was making suggestions as you went along. Sure enough, you must have heard me. You have a great sense of balance with your placement of elements to bring focus to you piece.
Susan I think there should me more fibre art like you are doing! I have fallen in love with this art! Keep going you’ve got it! 🥀
I find that I need to remember the original vision I have for a piece. If I start out seeing a cave drawing I can’t merge that with a Norman Rockwell style painting. Staying true to the original vision helps to guide me. Not saying a piece can’t evolve, just that it is less frustrating for me. I also only watch the videos that stay in that groove. I usually go awry when I blend too many styles. Your work grounds me. Trudge on, dear sister, you are blazing a trail for many to follow.
Always doubt, but sometimes I need to just walk away and let my mind have a rest!
It will be beautiful when you get it finished. I think we overthink our projects. I'm learning sometimes less is more. I like to take pictures of my ideas and then look at them. Does my eye travel around the piece, does it get stuck on one spot, how do the colors flow? I prefer things in threes or fives they just make sense to me. Your work is amazing trust your inner artist I very much look forward to seeing your finished piece!💗
Yes I will fiddle with my artwork sometimes till exhaustion sets in. All in an attempt at perfection. It's sooooo elusive indeed!
Susan, you are always a wonderful source of inspiration! It is already so beautiful, I imagine that it is going to turn out amazing! I can always, always relate to you about self doubt, unsure, not liking something, etc. I have a dozen or so things that I have walked away from and when I do finish something it takes me forever. Thank you for sharing and reassuring me that I am not alone.
First, the fabric printing/dying is GORGEOUS! That's a good start. WE ALL HAVE OUR DOUBTS - at the beginning, the middle and hopefully as we arrive at the end, that crazy journey makes sense. Just love your work and your freedom in the creative process. I have to try the doily dying because those colors are just gorgeous. This was such a helpful video; learned so much. Thank you for sharing.
Yes Yes Yes!!! There's texture, structure, flow, top to bottom -- and of course, MUCH MORE TO COME!!
This is beautiful!!! Congrats
Thank you so much!!
I feel like you are speaking to me. Our brains work in the same way. I fuss and create a 1000 extra elements so I have plenty to choose from when I stop procrastinating and begin actual assembly. Then I audition items forever and need to walk away for an hour because I don't like it. Usually to dig for that something special that's missing. BUT... in every project there's a magic moment where a switch flips and I'm in LOVE with it and i have an art frenzy until it's finished! 😂 Most All my creations take forever but the process was worth the end result! 💜 I see your vision and I hear you my friend!
Namaste xo
Loved watching your thought processes. Working through ideas is always interesting and yes we all have doubts. The hardest thing is to keep going!

I always tell.my students "there is no such thing as mistakes, only creative opportunities". I often have to remind myself of that tho. Sandra-Kay.
Love seeing how your mind works. I can really relate to your process as I create in a similar way. Only I don't think of it as doubting myself, it's just trying things till the visual strikes the right chord of my thoughts. Thank you for sharing. It's kinda nice knowing there are birds of a feather that are similar out there.
The FUN in creating as you go! 👍🏽
For those who may struggle from time yo time, this book has been very helpful so I share its wonderful advise with you all: ‘ART AND FEAR’ BY DAVID BAYLES AND TED ORLAND
