When this album was released in 1980, I was only 14 years old, fast far forward and now at 58 I still realize how blessed I was to have been a part of a decade with some of the best music ever!
After seeing most the bands from their era-Queen, Journey, Cheap Trick, Loverboy and others, I'm FINALLY getting a better late than never chance in Jan 2023! SO pumped
C Dawg. I grew up in the 70's and 80's and ROCK then. It was so much fun. Miss my 80's bands. No more Chicago touring either. Hope there are tribute bands will be out there playing they're music.
Well you got one right….Ridin the Storm Out….I will preface the other 4 as being fronted the Gary Richrath and not the carcass that is REO today….1) Golden Country, 2] Ridin the Storm Out, 3) 157 Riverside Ave, 4) Back on the Road Again, and 5) Keep Pushin……note Lightning would have made this list if they had ever played it live.
I wasn't lucky enough to see them back then- saw many other of the big groups but always wished I saw them. Hit pay dirt 2 months ago in Modesto, though it wasn't quite the same without Gary
Fail. No Music Man. No Golden Country. No 157. These are the songs that made REO a huge arena draw. Not saying the songs you chose aren't good songs...Most of them are. Time for Me to Fly is one of my favorites from REO. But Ridin'the Storm Out and Roll With the Changes in my opinion are the only two in this video that belong in the list of "Best Live REO songs". Moreso now that Kevin has aged and his ballad-singing voice has become so nasally.
more bubblegum. Hi Infidelity was of course the album that skyrocketed them to the top nationally. Set up by Tuna Fish. But Hi Infidelity also marked the musical turning point. They scored huge with a couple power ballads, and that style steered their future direction. Less high energy arena-style rock, more top-40 oriented.
Los tiempos cambian y eso hace apreciar más la música de los 70, 80 , REO eres leyenda. Ojalá en algún momento la humanidad entienda que debe regresar a la música de antaño.
Dude who replaced Richrath earned it. Love him. Never thought I would go there, Gary was one in a Trillion. I saved his life in Lincoln NE, really. Going to the bar Kevin and Gary walking to the Three Stooges Bar and Gary walked into the street with a car coming at 40MPH, I grabbed him and dove to the curb with him. Keven was wearing blue I remember that, and the car passed inches from us.
I love these guys but I think they should retire! Ok this performance is better than most but I know Kevin's getting pretty old I watched one where he didn't sound so good. For Pete's sake I think he's 75 years old now that's just a guess.
U of I Campus Red Lion............. 😃❤💃🎸🎼🎤🎸 I couldn't always get in but I tried every time you were playing back in the 1970's. What a long strange trip since then!
What a goods souvenirs of my and probably yours also (the young life). 🥰 ! Do you remember at that time, that there was no internet and we were enjoying life fully. Now it’s totally different for me who cross all those evolutions than today young men haven’t cross. It’s not a reproche to young’s one, they just born in a different world than we do, we can’t blame them, we have create this situation ahead of them.
REO also toured with and played on stage with Styx. Went to see one of those shows. I had never seen REO before. Hadn't seen Styx since 1981 Great show!!!
There's ONLY 4 LIVE SONGS in here. Unless studio without public it's considered live nowadays. Specialy THAT SONG it's missing the public reaction. Thanks
@@johnalton4661 He wrecked his health drinking and partying and he was terribly out of shape. He had struggled with alcoholism for some time. The band didn't want to deal with that. They needed him to be reliable. The rest of the band had gone on a health kick.
I'm not saying you are wrong, but I just Google. Why did Gary Rithrath leave R.E.O.Speedwagon ? Pretty much followed what I am saying . Said nothing about drinking, partying or health problems.
Right on Kevin Cronin!! And I was so happy to see this video in 2023!! I still Play "Don't let him go"! On my BOSE!!! MOST PEOPLE DONT HEAR THE DRUMS IN THE OPENING OF THAT SONG GGOD RESTY FRIEND LARRY LESPIER AND HIS "MORAN CE SYSTEM AND YOUR SONG ON 43- !! IT SHOOK THE WINDOWS IN HIS HOUSE!! I ! THANKS!!ncredible

It's nice to be called young at my age! (LOL)! Thanks!
not an original member left. oh, yeah, Kevin. You are a replacement for Michael Murphy. Shame on you for pushing Gary Richrath out. Shame.
Great times to be young...
I was 18 in 1980 and just graduated from high school. I loved this album along with Styx, Boston, ELO, Heart... toomany great groups to list them all.
Gran agrupación musical, sonido excelente y trascendencia a través de los años, REO SPEEDWAGON ❤️

I’ve seen Speedwagon in 73 and again in 1980, both were great shows!
Same here in San Antonio TX

DANG GOOD MEMORIES,,I WISHED IT WAS STILL 1980
One of the best rock n roll bands still playing out

Seen them 5 times over the years watching them And I getting older
I am 77 and I would still like to see the at Red Rocks.
I was fortunate to see REO in the 80’s with Gary jamming on his guitar solos…good times!!
I wasn't lucky enough to see them back then- saw many other of the big groups but always wished I saw them. Hit pay dirt 2 months ago in Modesto, though it wasn't quite the same without Gary
Always loved watching the Richrath show! ❤❤
Dave Amato is better than
Gary was good but Dave Amato is better
Brian HiTT on drums Is AWESOME
Reo still bangs even without Gary.
Played reo speedwagons cassette over and over again while driving around town back in the 80s
Playing them with my under dash 8 track in my 66 mustang. Good Days then.
OMG, REO + Chicago with Jason Scheff, Keith Howland, & Tris Imboden, that’s rocking it!
I know it's been years but you still REO,♥️Is Older NOW TOO, BUT STILL ♥️IT LOUD🎼😊💕
saw these guys when I was 14, at the battle of the bands in Raleigh, N.C...they won and got their BIG chance...my first rock concert.

Dave is a good player but doesn't quite fill Gary's shoes. I miss great music.
Gary now is gone he was reo but Davey Bruce Kevin still got ♥ and it sounds good. . In 2024 keep on rolling .
Love REO in 80's and now 2024
Gary is a very under praised guitarist
He was great. I think the guitar player in this video is his replacement though.

U so rite!
KC's voice has aged. He can't quite hit them high notes like he could on Wheels are turning
True but still plenty good.
Ain't REO Speedwagon without Gary Richrath. The end.
Well he's dead so what do you want them to do?
@@TailgunnerATC Retire
WHAT? No Golden Country Live? This is the bubble gum pop era of REO....Foo, Yuck.
Two of the songs were written by Gary Richrath, the late original lead guitarist. Riding the Storm Out, and Take It On The Run....

Live means no lip synching. Kevin had a great voice and could sing live
Wow. They came to our small town in Lewiston Idaho in 1976. Love REO Speedwagon.
I really need to see when each of these concerts took place. They are completely different, yet we don't have the info; anyone?
Horrible
saw them in 80's with Cheaptrick. Obviously new members here because other than Kevin those guys are too young to be originals.
REO and Chicago really compliment each other
Oh , did Guns and roses pick ? Paradise City ?
losfui a ver al festival de viña del mar en 1989 muy buenos
The guitar is AWFUL. Sounds nothing like GARY RICHRATH. And Kevin for some reason is trying to look like Mrs. Doubtfire. Utter lightweights. :(
The seeming obsession over Gary is sad. Yes, he was good, but he chose to put the partying ahead of the music and he paid the price.
What???
Not quite the way I heard it. After the success of Hi-Infidelity Kevin wanted to do more love songs. Gary wanted to ROCK.

Golden Coutry? Not played😥😥
I went to a country n western bar I think it was called country palace in New Mexico albuquerquearond1990 big place
