      The thing here is that Bitdefender was actually parallelly disinfecting the file along with active protection , while Kaspersky was only actively protecting the system and was prompting the user to disinfect the file.
      Test cases differ with different Av's as both have different settings. Kaspersky still takes the round , however it definitely depends on User's preference.
      I have used Kaspersky from the year 2009 -2011, and although it was great on the protection, it was a system hogger(i had a pentium IV back then). I have used Eset from 2011-2013 and i really liked the lightweight of the AV, I moved on to Avast from 2013-2016(i was a college student and needed to save funds),plus i got free Premium protection from Avast for referring few of my friends 😅. I have again moved back to Eset from 2016 after building a new system on the same year and never really looked back to other products. I have heard much about Bitdefender, but never really got around the bush to try it.

    • @zehph
      @zehph 3 года назад

      @@soledfamily That is not the point, the VM had only a share of the host CPU anyway, the difference in usage here is that Kaspersky was waiting for user input to desinfect files, Bitdefender scales itself up in priority and deals with threats automatically even analysing the execution chain while cleaning up, considering it closed malx reassures my trust in their behavioural protection and on it safeguarding my less tech savvy relatives.

      ..so blocking the execution chain allows for blocking the potentially undetected threats....in my scope of view having 99.5% detection rate but blocking the entire execution chain is better than having a detection of 99.999% but having a nasty ransomware. In the end it is your choice but all this is useless as Bitdefender is trash this year (2022) advanced threat defense became junk and shields are worse. I really found good that Bitdefender blocked the Powershell script. Imagine for example that a trojan puts a script that downloads other infected files from the internet. That would be a good way of stopping this quickly. Yes, at the end when you added the exception, it detected less malware than Kaspersky, but I guess a normal user won't add python or powershell to the exceptions.

    • @SgtRamen69
      @SgtRamen69 Год назад

      Well, the exception didn't do anything for detection rate of actual malware, just some preventative measure in case it's zero-day exploits/malware. Either way tho the results were probably not accurate since both systems were clean afterwards, so it's really just preference anyway

    I used Kaspersky for 5 years or so, and eventually moved to Bitdefender. Reason for this was, that in our business we use very specialised software, that Kaspersky did not like at the time. Bitdefeder was better at the time of swap. However now, Bitdefender is also a pain, to such degree that you cannot install software without uninstalling BD (switching it off did not do anything). However as you work longer with some AV, and you understand it better, you just get used to small issues and either live with them or learn how to resolve them. Recently I purchased 4 years of Bitdefender for silly money (black Friday) and I do think it is better value for money, when you need more than 5 devices. Also, as I now understand BD behaviour better, I can live with it. However I would not recommend full auto for business. I experienced this with an update, that all of the sudden started blocking software, that was OK before... Anyway, nice review :)

    I have used Bitdefender now for some time but always thought it slowed down my system. Now with Kaspersky i dont feel the same at all. It even picked up on programs that Bitdefender never picked up on. Kaspersky said that some strange activity was going on and just removed the program and fixed everything. Bitdefender tho never said anything at all. Not that I think I ever had any problem with it or anything so whos to say. Kaspersky also picked up on some browser trojan that Bitdefender and no other program including Malwarebytes,Zemana and Hitman pro picked up on. . Bitdefender is slow but if that program was some kind of malware of some kind that could also be the reason to why my system was slow. But i will stick with Kaspersky from now on. Great channel >D

    Actually both products are really awsome. Because i always use both products to protect my PC or the other device. But the biggest problem with bitdefender is to much eating RAM in the PC version comprate to the mobile security version. Which that aren't eating to much RAM. And for kaspersky. The biggest problem with their products. They don't include like trial reset. Like reset to use email or something just like eset for example or the other AV. But so far love it of both. Hopefully both products can improve that

    Having used both over the years - I canned BD in favour of Kaspersky.
    Bitdefender seems far more intrusive and resource hungry in general and in some cases would create noticeable stutter on the target system. I'm a gamer, IT engineer /programmer and don't tolerate security software that creates lag spikes by maxing out resources particular on high end machines.
    In my experience Kaspersky is generally the better of the two. But remember no AV or AM software solution keeps you 100% safe - it's still largely up to the spongeware behind the keyboard to behave with a little intelligence.

    • @prg2812
      @prg2812 4 года назад +1

      @Rick. I agree totally re resource gobbling by BD. I used Kaspersky last year and thought i'd try BD upon renewal based on reviews. I find BD starts an update when I'm gaming and slows everything down. Kaspersky however was virtually unoticable in the baskground with a reminder that update was due which I could do at a time of my choosing. I'm going back to Kaspersky on renewal.

      @@prg2812 Trying to pick the best AV solution is not easy - they seem to play a game of pass the hat - this months pick isn't necessarily next months - it obviously depends a lot on who does the test and on what system, system conditions etc. But so far for gaming Kaspersky seems to be one of the best. Even the free version of Kaspersky is superior to Avast, AVG and Avira imo - they seem to be playing a game of lets see who can pack the most bloatware into their software. Out of that trio I'd say Avast seems best at the moment.

      Sven D. Waterlaw multiple anti-viruses may interfere with each other just like two people disagreeing on a condition.
      Using multiple anti-viruses also increases RAM/CPU usage. You do get a higher detection rate, but I suggest running them separately; enable one and disable the other, then switch periodically.

As I have the original Windows 10, Windows Defender is my choice, it's free, so far it has done a job, prevented several malware ... but on Samsung S10 +, because of Net Bankig, i bought Kaspersky for Android at 5$ for a year, the license also valid for both smartphones and tablet ...
