Obviously, there’s some sort of flex in that area that caused the original fracture. I would’ve cut more of the filler neck off and made the hose longer to allow for some play.

I found a new inlet for around $50 online. That costs more than your method, but it might be the way to go.

Thanks for the interesting video. However, according to Sika's own data sheet, Sikasil Gasket can withstand long time exposure to oils although it can't withstand exposure to fuels. Here is the text copied from the data sheet in Finnish - Sikasil® -Gasket kestää pitkäaikaisesti öljyjä, vettä ja jäähdytysnesteitä. Ei kestä kosketusta polttoaineisiin.
