Bacon Ranch Cheese Log - A Wonderful Appetizer Perfect for Snacking and Parties!

- Bacon Ranch Cheese Log
2 blocks (8 ounce each) cream cheese
1/4 cup sour cream
1 ounce package Hidden Valley Original Ranch Mix
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 Tablespoons Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
1/4 cup bacon bits, divided
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans, divided
In a mixer bowl, blend well the cream cheese, sour cream, ranch mix, garlic powder, pepper jack cheese, cheddar cheese, Miracle, Whip salad dressing, 2 tablespoons bacon bits, green onions, and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Form into a log and set aside. Chill, if desired
On a large plate, combine the remaining pecans and bacon bits. Roll the cheese log in this mixture, coating the outside completely. Chill, then serve with crackers.

Yes it is a but chopper first they made I had 2 of them I am 65 yr old lol lol so but choppers and myself are antiques lol lol❤❤ but the but chopper last does not wear out lol so true

Logs are better ! AGREE! Surprised Tom didn't say this being a teacher, put your cheese in the freezer before shredding, it will not stick to you grater. Thaws out very quickly. Thanks for ALL both of you do.
We do butter like this, but have never the cheese
I got a nut chopper just like that a while back, it is all white, from Amazon. I LOVE it. I make a recipe called "Georgia Cornbread Cake"" that calls for 2 cups of finely chopped nuts. The first time I made it I chopped the nuts with a knife and it took forever. I bought the nut chopper and it cuts 2 cups in just a short time. Just perfect. (There is no cornbread or cornmeal in the recipe. Nobody knows why they call it that.)

I always wait and let everyone else go in line and by the time I get there most of the foods are gone or like the cheese ball all the good has been taken. Our standard cheese log is getting difficult to make because a couple of the ingredients are difficult to find. This may become our next try. Thanks for sharing. I'm sure it tastes yumny!

Looks delicious, and I like the idea of a cheese log instead of a cheese ball. It never crossed my mind about the coating. So, cheese logs for me from now on. Thanks for sharing that and for sharing your recipe , although I do have your cookbook, and it's wonderful. If you don't have the cookbook, go ahead and purchase it. You won't regret it, a fabulous purchase.
I enjoy watching you prepare and not wasting any of the ingredients. I prefer a log, it's easier to serve, by the way Super Bowl I taste a cheese log in in a week.
One thing he could do with the leftover green onions.... mix with cottage cheese. It's delicious.
Hello Tom & Melissa- this looks like a great recipe . It sounds delicious. I do not make my cheese balls into balls either. I put a piece of plastic into a corelle white bowl it is big around but not deep. I put my nuts around on the plastic . The put my cheeseball mix on top & spread it out . Then I bring the plastic up to totally cover it. Then put my medium corelle plate on it & put into fridge until ready to serve. I then take plate off. Take plastic wrap down place the plate on it & turn it over. Then peel away the plastic wrap & I have a nice top on the entire top. Then it is ready to go & the plate is cold & the cheeseball as well. Thank you for making & posting a great quick appetizer. Have a Blessed weekend! 👏👏👏🙏❣️

The ones you can find are white top. They are the best. Mine I got in 1975. Love using it for my banana nut bread and my fresh apple cake.

I am severely lactose intolerant, but I love Violife plant-based "cream cheese" and shredded "cheese", so I think this will be perfect for me with those substitutions!
Those mini spatulas are found at QVC called KOCHBLUME Last Drop Spoon Set. What I like about them is that a few of them in the set have that pointier tapered tip, a few have the longer handle etc. No, I wasnt the nice person who sent them to you. I wish it was. ❤ - Lizzie

I searched Amazon for "Vintage Nut Grinder" and there are several on there that look like yours (and mine.) I have an old one like you do, so I don't need one, but they do have some just like it on there. Whether or not they made as well as our old ones, I don't know. But it's worth a try! Your recipe is great. I have a similar recipe that has everything in it except the bacon and have always loved that one. Now, I want to try this one. Thanks again for a winner!
