This is a pretty ham set up. Especially the repair that you showed using packing tape. Thanks for the review it was helpful to help me make a decision on this item.

Try using a type of homemade solar battery to keep it warm. I got the idea from Homestead Rescue. Barrels or something with water in it (closed in), painted black. They heat up through the sun of the day and radiate heat through the night. I want to put that in my greenhouse once it is completed. :)

Pam here…I live here in WI too, i wonder with all that wind, maybe a modified ‘raised bed’ made into a cold frame. With the glass facing south? Could use old windows? When the seedlings out, plant with flowers for summer could be lovely garden feature.

Nice review of a sensible design! Can you get a hygrometer in there? Measure the min / max during day and overnight. Generally, high humidity, around 78 to 80% is ideal for germination, is my experience. I agree that excess humidity, over 90% can risk PM or fungi but the seedlings will love it around 78% and I suspect at that - you WILL see water running down. It's okay - humidity is your friend.

Interesting. I added these to my wishlist to keep an eye on them. These could get me an extra couple of months of grow time here in Georgia, and I can put them in storage during the coldest and hottest months to keep them from breaking down too fast. I use the metal 5x3 King Bird grow beds, and these would drop right over them. I also use grow bags for tubers and these would hold plenty of them. Not bad for $50

I bought one last year. The tarp lasted but it tore over winter.
