      @drippingwax I am either going to buy a slightly larger kit or design something similar with my dad. He has done very similar construction his whole life, and this sort of thing would be a breeze for him to build from scratch... I am going to have an outdoor drum room/ greenhouse where I can record drums and also take care of plants, and also get some sun... it would have to be larger than the one in this video, I'll be sure to document the whole process once I get started. 👍

    • @drippingwax
      @drippingwax Год назад +2

      @@lunarfifthstudios Nice. I built a greenhouse from scratch and found a great deal of misinformation on-line, which cost me hundreds of dollars.

    • @lunarfifthstudios
      @lunarfifthstudios Год назад

      @drippingwax oh, really? Snap! What kinds of rigor did you have to find within yourself to keep going when the challenges were most confronting you? That sounds like a healthy challenge to overcome, but I'm just speculating. 👍

    • @drippingwax
      @drippingwax Год назад +1

      @@lunarfifthstudios For example, I locked myself in my room on Mother's Day so that Mom and I would not argue for just 24 hours.
      I built the greenhouse for her, with permission, and I am positive that she changed her mind before I finished.
      She has a terrible track record for either telling me to stop when I am almost finished or saying "It doesn't work" and refusing to use something.
      The garage is full of things either she told me or she gave me permission to buy and then refused to use.
      Regarding the greenhouse build, people said that you can use plastic drop cloths for a while, but they will wear out eventually.
      The wind tore ours apart in 3 days--and they cost $20 each!
      I think that screwing down furring strips instead of stapling the edges would have worked vastly better, since it failed where I stapled it.
      I bought proper greenhouse material, which is thicker, reinforced, and UV-treated, but decided that I wanted something more rigid to resist the wind.
      I bought 48 in. x 96 in. x 0.157 in. (4mm) Clear Corrugated Twinwall Plastic Sheet (10-Pack) panels from Home Depot.
      Everyone said would they work okay, just slowly yellow over a few years.
      The front and roof disintegrated within months, even though I UV-treated them.
      I replaced the roof with Tuftex Multi-Wall 6mm Panel Clear 4-ft x 8-ft Corrugated Clear Polycarbonate Plastic Roof Panel from Lowe's.
      Bob of I Like to Make Stuff and other RUclipsrs used to build greenhouses.
      They worked, but cost as much as the 10 panels from Home Depot.
      Then, over the next 18 months, the Home Depot panels continued to disintegrate, and Mom refused to use the greenhouse that I built her, with permission, complained, and ordered me to tear it down.
      I am not going to spend several hundred more to replace the remaining panels on a greenhouse Mom refuses to use, so I removed the side panels, and the Tuftex panel on the roof gouged my eye and I needed to go to the E.R.
      Everything is down in price, but the Tuftex panels are $61.36 each and one of the more popular choices, and you don't need to buy 10, like with the Home Depot ones.
      They work great, just make sure you cut the roof pretty flush.
      I put on a face shield when I removed the rest of the siding.

    The secret to assembling a premade greenhouse in one day.
    We are supposed to use stainless steel screws with pressure treated wood. Epoxy screws will loose some of their coating when getting driven in and could be subject to galvanic corrosion caused by the copper in the preservative.
    Robertson square drive screws are the best

    Please share how you made the little table in the greenhouse. That would be perfect in my garden. Thanks!

    That was fun - full of laughs and really useful tips - I love your greenhouse, and the speed with which you got it up - really awesome! Anyway, something else that i noticed - and I hope that it's okay to say this - I'll say it quietly so that no one else notices - when you returned the hammer strokes that you recorded whilst putting up the rafter "plate" to normal, I think that they correspond almost exactly to the drum beat from Night Flight to Venus by Boney-M (or put it this way, it's the first thing that entered my mind when I heard them) - just saying... Anyway, I really enjoyed this video - thanks for sharing and have a great weekend. :-)

    I've been collecting old windows for a couple years and was gonna build my greenhouse this Spring but instead my Dr said I had to have shoulder surgery (due to falling down a flight of stairs) so my greenhouse is on the back burner for now. I'm hoping this Fall I can get it built.

    I wish we could build this kind of greenhouse. Two people in their mid 60's, and I have been in 16 wrecks so that isn't happening. We have no kids. I watched Jeri Landers of Hop-a-long Hollow build a greenhouse by herself with doors and windows she got for free. She is older than I am, and maybe she hasn't been in any wrecks. So I would have to get someone to build something like this greenhouse.
    Have either of you heard of Toxic Foods (oxalates) by Sally Norton? Spinach, chard and beets are really high in oxalates. (toxins).

    Holy bejeebus, they ain't cheap! Not that i thought they would be, but definitely beyond our budget 🤪 I think I'll continue scavenging used windows and build something from scratch when i have enough, lol

      Oddly enough my plan was to use reclaimed windows but people around me want almost as much as new windows for them so I scrapped that plan.
