Just watched this & your pros & cons video. Absolutely amazing what yall have done! We live in SC so we dont have the snow weight like yall do but very informative videos. Will be working with the hubby to see if i can get this dream of mine a reality. Thanks for posting & good luck with all of your homestead ventures.
Great and full of passion work. Thanks so much for your videos. I am from Poland where conditions, materials and prices are different but your way of presenting of all execution stages are best ever. Thanks so much brother’s ❤
What you've built and done, just incredible. QUESTION: when you use those limbed trees for upright ridge supports -- where it is raw/untreated wood put into the ground ... how does that do as far as rotting or not rotting? I have a property where I could certainly take advantage of that so - very curious. And "of course" I just subscribed! 🙂Thanks for your great shares!!!
Great video. Genius way to mark the areas to put sill plate on top of the concrete. I would have burnt the bottom of the tree support to harden it & debarked it. But that would be my preference. Yours looks beautiful.
Wish I had room for a solid built greenhouse like yours. That looks incredible, loving the cheery color! Nice warm place to take a break from chilly garden chores this spring. Its already the end of the first week in January - can you believe it!?! Spring is coming up on us FAST! Nice camera & editing on your build, BTW. Enjoy your weekend guys.👍
I get so excited when you post a video. Just love watching your progress. Wish I had that kind of land and was 30 years younger🙀. Keep the videos coming. Thank you for sharing❤️🇺🇸
The paint was VOC free and had some outdoor additive to preserve the wood. We figured that was a more cost effective option than cedar and didn't want oil or regular paint in a growing area. We put windows on the front and with those and the doors open the airflow was more than enough. But, we are in zone 4 so the cold is more of a problem for us, than the heat.
Yikes did my reply too soon. I just love that greenhouse. The buildings you have constructed are beautiful yet different. With each build I see changes. Happy planting🇺🇸✌️
Great build and fantastic diy skills. A couple of thoughts. Concrete footings didn’t have enough water and we’re too shallow. Ventilation is lacking no room for windows (or at least none that I could see) so it will be too hot in summer.
Thank you and your thoughts are correct haha We did not add enough water, this was our first time ever working with concrete. And We have to add some ventilation this summer. We left the doors large to help with that, and we are pretty far north so hopefully we do not need too much more. Thank you for watching and for the comment:)
Great video, I'm on my 3rd time watching it 😂 Few questions. 1. Were your foundation forms built with 4x2 ? 2. How tall were the side walls ? 3. What height was the ridge pole above the front/rear frames ? 4. What was your slope length for the roof panels ? Thank you 😊
This is absolutely incredible! What a build and how great it turned out! This actually made me think that maybe it would be possible to build something like this with my partner as well. We've been considering buying a greenhouse for a while now, but seeing this makes me think. Truly an inspirational video!!
Turned out very nice. Couple of questions Why did you use wood ridge instead of the poly ridge . Ascetic or availability issues. Not sure why rafters don't align with wall studs. What did you use between wall twin wall panels. Did screw heads make attachments of the facia trim difficult
We had a lot of ceder and prefered that look, too. They dont align because we framed from the front back then did rafters from back to front. It was a beginners mistake but it held up to a lot of snow. WE are still learning as we go. Between panels there is an H channel they slide in. The screws dont stick out much and the cedar is soft enough it wasnt a problem to trim out.
Perfection! I will use your design as my guide. Two questions: 1) Suggestions for gutter collection funneling into greenhouse for plant irrigation? PVC piping through top maybe allowing for gravity feeding? 2) How did you ventilate? I want to build two greenhouses… one adjacent to kitchen and create external door entrance maybe dutch door if allowed by code. The other will be off the family room extending our living space when existing door is open. Goals: reduce heat costs and nutrition.
Thank you, and good luck on your build! We are planning on collecting rain water to water everything. We ventilate our a-frame greenhouse with a vent and the door staying open. We haven't figured that out for this one, yet. But we made the doors big so if they open that will be a huge help. We are pretty far north so we don't need a ton of ventilation. But, if we need more I am going to frame in a window/vent and maybe put a solar fan or something in. I am going to observe and react as the growing season arrives
Beautiful build! Hope you get everything out of it you desire. Enjoyed watching the build. I saw your other video on comparing greenhouse builds after watching this one and you mentioned you still need to figure out the ventilation. If you were building it for me, the ONLY change I'd ask for is a window at the back end with a built in thermometer that opens the window automatically when it reaches a certain temp. That way I wouldn't have to keep the door open to vent it, to keep the critters out.
We left the door large to hopefully ventilate most of what we need. We will probably have to put a window in on the other side and get a solar powered arm or something. We are still planning the layout of the interior
You did a great job. Yes perhaps a window in the rear , a ridge vent and some type of exhaust fan should keep it cool. What state/climate zone are you located in?
Great and very helpful video. Beautiful Union of two bothers of building a green house. Could you please share where did you buy the polyurethane sheets?

very easy to build this greenhouse but need some time 👍provide my family with food security for the next 100 years - I like this very much !my next DIY project is the greenhouse and thanks for sharing !
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it or not. You could use those large stones from digging the foundation in something like a work bench base in the greenhouse. The mass of the stones would make an awesome heat sink and look cool, too. I appreciate the time and effort you have to build such an amazing project. Would suggest using a heavy container. For example, cattle panels. Anchor with long t-post like a Gabion wall. Then a wood or masonry top for work surface. Just a thought.
Hey y’all, quick question from someone who has poly panels in their tractor supply cart as we speak: did you have to get H clips to connect the poly panels or did they come with connectors, or were you able to make cuts that secured them together?
Hi! I hope i got this to you in time. But the h clips are what connect the panels. They slide in and that makes a seal to keep water and bugs out. Then the u channel goes on the bottom for the same reason. I hope this helps and I hope I understood what you are asking correctly

The cost for number 4 l thought was very reasonable. Any idea when you will have the cost estimates for number 5 done? It's the one that l want to replicate.
That one is a little tricky because we milled our own cedar for the trim on the building. If we had to buy that from a store it would be quite expensive.
They are called twinwall polycarbonate panels. We got ours from various hardware stores, there are probably good places online to source them. and thank you:)
The runaway wheelbarrow in the beginning got me 😂 You guys this turned out awesome! Was looking forward to this video and to see the whole process is so cool. Also being able to use your own milled wood is dope. If and when we ever build our greenhouse I'm just going to watch this a thousand times over!
It is a little tough because we had our cousin mill us some cedar boards which really cut down on the cost. But each panel is about 55 bucks, it took all of those bags of concrete we bought, and a lot of 2x4's. And I am sure prices have gone up even in the short time since we built it haha
@@TheNorthBranchWI if there is no heavy snow load, I am sure the ridge beam will withstand (replacing is not a problem, I believe). And there is reason to believe that the tree in the center will survive the greenhouse;)
Incredible video and details. I noticed on your A-frame you gave us a cost breakdown. What was the approximate cost of this awesome greenhouse please? Would like to put one up in Ohio since our weather is so unpredictable. Thanx lots.
Thank you, Jerri! It is a little tough to come up a price for this one because we milled the cedar for the exterior ourselves. If we had to buy it I don't think we would have been able to built it, at least in it's current form. The panels are 4x8 twinwall panels, and those were roughly $50 a piece, and there were a lot of 2x4's (and we painted them all) that went into the frame . There was also concrete, and screws and everything like that. It all depends on the size you are looking for too

Also being able to use your own milled wood is dope. If and when we ever build our greenhouse I'm just going to watch this a thousand times over!
Hills are tough sometimes haha and Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words. My cousin saved me with his mill on this one and many times since.
Nice!
Ballpark on the total cost?
It is a little tough because we had our cousin mill us some cedar boards which really cut down on the cost. But each panel is about 55 bucks, it took all of those bags of concrete we bought, and a lot of 2x4's. And I am sure prices have gone up even in the short time since we built it haha
@The North Branch Yeah that's cool.
Good job though, it's sharp 👍
@@Michigan_North_Woods Thank you! I am finishing up some cedar beds inside there today, the video on it should be out soon.
That is an awesome looking greenhouse, Evan. Y'all did a fantastic job.
Thank you!! I appreciate it, Chuck
Very nice job guys ❤️👍🙋♂️
Thank you!
Great job guys!! Looking forward to watching you grow your produce!!😊Robbie
Appreciate it, Robbie! Thanks for following along
I don't understand how you cut everything so precisely
how long does such a greenhouse live? how long does a tree rot in a humid environment?
We will see! I will have to replace the tree support as some point. we were in a hurry so I did not take the bark off.
@@TheNorthBranchWI if there is no heavy snow load, I am sure the ridge beam will withstand (replacing is not a problem, I believe). And there is reason to believe that the tree in the center will survive the greenhouse;)
We get a lot of snow though
It all depends on the size you are looking for too
@@TheNorthBranchWI I can appreciate your reply. I can work up a rough estimate even with just the skeleton information you gave me. Thanks so much and I really enjoy your channel.
What's the finished dimensions?
In a previous video, they mentioned building the framing studs on 24” centers…so my estimate would be 15 x 12.
Just came over from Life with blinda and chucks suggestion
Thank you!
Гидроизоляцию между бетоном и деревом не положили?
How about air flow?
Working on that right now! We put a window on the other side of door and it’s working well!
Where is damp proof sheet between concrete and timber???
An easy subscription 😅
hell yeah! Thanks man
Does he ever mention an estimate of cost?
The ARMY guy sawing your boards. My boys call him the army guy.
Haha 😆 John is the man
What is actual size?
Haha this video is awesome. 10:01-10:06 had me cracking up haha
What was so funny?
@@TheNorthBranchWI Perhaps because it was in fast forward? Not sure. I did laugh when the wagon turned over 😂 I was laughing with you of course! One other chuckle. That large rock.. My dad had one in his yard that a loader turned up when grading a new drive. It was so big that I dug a hole right next to it and the 2 of us pushed it in 😂 I told him we should have buried a note with it in case it ever found a way to the surface again!
